Apocalypse Bad news! No extended version of X-Men Apocalypse confirmed.

Actually, he also confirmed Jubilee's powers as being in the deleted scenes, too.
The mall scene includes a several minute montage of them getting out of Star Wars, going to the food court, Nightcrawler surprised at how people aren't afraid of him in America, Nightcrawler breakdancing with people at the mall, the four teens checking out a record store, and them at the arcade.
My friend who saw the full editor's assemblage cut of the film said that Jubilee uses her powers in the arcade, and then evades mall security with gymnastics while joking around.

Also, Bryan Singer mentioned they might add a 'toggle' option to include the deleted scenes with the rest of the movie on the DVD.

But for they to include the "toggle" option they have to finish the special effects and stuff or else will be terrible. Lots of deleted scenes on dvd don't even have the special effects ready to go.

So, instead of the "toggle" option would be better just release an extended edition.

Why would they add an unnecessary subplot about the kids going to the mall in the overall story? That just sounds like a detour, like the Rogue rescue. But with even less fanservice and purpose. They just needed the kids away from the mansion.

I do agree it would've been nice for Lana to get more time as Jubilee and want to see the scenes included in the DVD release. But I don't think it's worth getting worked up over because we're not getting an extended cut. It was just truncated. They should've given more time to Jubilee through other means. The toggle option is totally fine.

Exactly. And it to me comes down to Kinberg not really knowing how to work characters into situations properly. I think his thought process is something like this.

Ok so Apocalypse is gonna come in and kidnap Charles but Havok is going to try and stop him and then blow the mansion up, but Stryker will come and take Mystique, Beast, Moira and Quicksilver so how can they be saved. Oh wait let's send the new X kids to the mall. So they're not there for the explosion and then they can come back in time to go and rescue the adults. Let me write a whole bunch of stuff in the mall.

And then when it comes to the film it's all stuff that doesn't fit in with the plot. You have the urgency of a mutant wanting to destroy the world but then have a couple of kids breakdancing and playing video games in a mall. It doesn't flow and make sense tone wise. If this were a different X-Men movie one that's more grounded it could work. Those scenes should never have even been included to begin with.

More like the mall was a throwback to X2 and Bryan wanting to throwback to the actual 80s of his childhood. Might've been cool in the beginning of the film showing the kids of the 80s as already established students and friends, but they had to start with Scott and Kurt not at the mansion so they had to do all of that.

I think the mall isn't a terrible idea. It basically shows the teens having fun for a change.. And then bam! Cyclops' brother is dead and pow!! Their home is destroyed!
If they showed Jubilee crying over her home of ten years being destroyed... Or had Jean sense that Xavier was in danger while they were at the mall... Something to add to the urgency, it could've worked better. Still, im excited to see Jubilee's extra scenes. Hopefully with the toggle option.

I still prefer an extended version of the movie instead of the toggle option.

They could have made a TAS reference, it started with jubelee in the arcade. It would have had built up, as the Quicksilver scene kind of arrive in a flash, wich suit the character in a way.

They most likely were doing that but at least the Quicksilver scene served the story. It worked because it worked within the story and progression. If they did it with Jubilee in a way that might've worked story wise the yes. But sadly they didn't do that.

They should have scrapped the pointless alkali Lake subplot and have used the mall scene.

there is nothing to say the mall scene would have helped the movie

Alkali lak is no subplot. It show jean giving back happy memory to the bersek'baked old logan, as will Xavier at the end of the movie. In one case to slow down a brutal force in the other case to unlishe it. It shows Jean woman power to calm down those out of control boyz, Scott and Logan.

The mall scene probably was deleted because it didn't advance the story, it had nothing to do with Apocalypse and probably was in the movie in the first place to develop Jean/Cyclops/Nightcrawler more and to an extent, introduce Jubilee. But they could have just done all of that in the X-Mansion.

Again, the writing just reflects that they don't know how to work characters into the plot.. CW did a nice job balancing every core character and even the minor characters had moments to shine. I didn't see this in Apocalypse and Jubilee was non-existent in the movie, while she was heavily promoted. Why is this?

It would be amazing if Singer re-cut the mall scene and turned it into a 5 minute short film for the blu-ray.

Having Marvel style One Shots would be cool. I suggest that for DOFP in order to fill in the gap between X3/The Wolverine and DOFP.

The mall sequence is pretty clearly about these relative strangers starting to bond, whereas in the film, they're forced to do so right away due to their predicament.

I doubt the mall sequence would have enhanced the main narrative much.

Oh well, that just means I can grab the blu Ray of this asap so it's not all bad news! I had to wait for ages to get days of future past and I was so tempted just to double dip so many times

I imagine the film would've cut to them at the mall after Auschwitz to shift the tone back in a lighter direction, which they already did more or less with Quicksilver, but that wasn't as stark a contrast and fit into the plot.

It was probably just there for character development reasons and I look forward to seeing it, whether it's included in context of the film or not

There didn't really seem like there was any reason not to have Jubilee join them once they returned. Kurt didn't say much at alkali lake, she would have been superfluous, but not interfered at all really being part of the final battle. She and Scott could have fought Storm together.

There seems to be some idea that all these movies have left half the film on the cutting room floor. That this missing footage drastically alters the movie.

Yes that sometimes happens. But with these kind's of films, it really doesn't. Most directors film what they need and trim off the fat. I don't think there's some 30 minutes of footage of Apocalypse chatting it up with his Horsemen. Just basic minute segments that aren't worth making an extended version for.

I just hope they'll show us all the deleted scenes from this movie even if they are so unfinished like the VFX. There are deleted scenes from First Class and Days of Future Past that didn't make it to Blu-ray and DVD.
