Bad Robot/Jonathan Nolan Bringing "Westworld" to HBO - Part 1

In the first season, the time jumping was fun because once you realized it was happening, you could just follow young William or old William. This season, the time jumping was obvious within the first few seconds...and then it hopped around back and forth so much that it became frustrating for me...seeing a dead character before they actually die...spending half of each episode trying to figure out where in time each scene is happening so it'll make sense. Eventually, I realized that I didn't care about any of the storylines anymore. And I get that it's a show about robots...but now basically everyone is a robot and they can just be brought back to life at will (fake deaths are one of my big pet peeves). Then the show ended and...I'll watch the next season, but I already am bored with the "new" symbol mystery that keeps getting teased...and nothing they teased made me excited about watching it.

Should of had the post credit scene during the actual episode.

I missed it. What was it? (In tags, please)

The Man In Black arrives home...and Nick Fury is there to tell him about the Avenger Initiative.

Okay...that's not what happens. But he IS in one of the Delos testing rooms from earlier in the season where they tried to perfect a robot version of the founder of Delos...and his daughter was there (or a version of her)...and it turns out that they have been doing these tests on him over and over again, just like with the Delos guy. So...yeah, he's probably a robot.

Holy ****...

That was magnificent. And, why are Nolan’s so good at using Radiohead?

I’m convinced it’s
Teddy but she did send him to that new world
so I don’t know and I want to know!

Delores as Hale took 5 (maybe only 4, if the key/her father was 1) “brains”.

Teddy is for sure one... just confused on the other 3-4.

Basically the last 30 minutes of Westworld. :o

is the post credits scene set very far in the future?

I think season 2 was not as good as season 1. :csad: They wrotte everything so that they can bring all the important characters back.

I think so yes. In fact I wonder if...

..if William was ressurected to fight Delores' rogue hosts in a future good host/bad host war.

Lisa Joy just likes to troll and confuse, which I don't blame.

Dolores put Teddy in The Valley Beyond, we saw Teddys sphere at The Forge. So she didn't take him with.

Those sphere/pearls (I think it was LJN who called it that) would've been from
hosts that were not on the Sublime or died on the way there, right? Just because there's no way Dolores would've gotten it out in time so that narrows it down a whole lot. I was thinking at first that maybe it's Clementine or Angela (if not Teddy because he was already transmitted to the Sublime) since he/she seems to be acting as Dolores' right hand but I don't know how Dolores would've extracted their pearls when they died.

Gotta say, some of the cinematography last night was awesome...

I didn't like this season.
The show is getting too convoluted that it just isn't fun anymore. I have no fun watching this. There's not a single character to root for or to at least be on his/her side. I don't care about the hosts, or even the humans (or are they hosts? see), many of the themes and plot points about this show are intangible, everything is so abstract and I'm constantly asking myself "But wait... how does this work?".
It just... agh. Is too bad. I thought they really had something here but it just isn't working for me anymore.

Ramin Djawadi really is the master. Because of his music that episode gained SO MUCH. My favorite was the post credits scene :)

I kinda thought maybe this is
Dolores' punishment for him. She knows who Emily is and she told William he won't get peace yet.

Lol, I know people online joke about the series finale being everyone is a robot and the human race is long gone but now I'm wondering.

But you see, that's a cool idea. I can get behind all of that. But this season doesn't feel like the second one. Is too far ahead with the themes of AI and they abandoned too quickly the real park, with real people and robots. I don't want to sh** on the show because almost everyone here seem to be really into it, so I feel kinda left out talking about how I don't think is working.

I've enjoyed this season and I see your point, having just finished watching the finale and kind of starting to process some of it.

It kind of feels like they skipped a season or two in order to get to this point where it's possible everyone and their dog is actually a host/robot.

Tbh, I enjoy the show most and find it most compelling during scenes/moments like the one where
AI Logan was explaining the creation process and bringing all sorts of musings on the human condition to the fore, while detailing what they found during the process.

It's probably what I enjoyed most about S1 as well, where Ford was the one who more often than not was behind such moments/scenes. Which is why, overall, he's probably my favourite character. :woot:

Curious to see where they take S3 now.

From Indiewire: ‘Westworld’ Is Killing the Same Characters So Many Times, It’s Actually Killing Itself

(...)Season 2 felt so over-protective about what’s coming next it spoiled the fun of what’s happening right now. It was so determined to outsmart its audience it forgot to entertain them(...)

That part sums up this second season for me. I was still able to enjoy it and I'll definitely be watching the third season, but this season was unnecessarily confusing. I hope for the third season they focus on making a more entertaining season with more relatable characters, instead of just trying to outsmart the audience.

That is such a good quote. It complements my post from earlier. It wasn't fun.
