Bad Robot/Jonathan Nolan Bringing "Westworld" to HBO - Part 1

Can't say news of renewal is all that exciting. This season has lacked the depth of the first two seasons (although it was losing it a bit in the second). It's actually hard for me to enjoy this season because I don't care about the humans or the robots.

Six seasons now, I thought five was always the (lucky) goal.

The renewal, per sources, was part of Joy and Nolan's larger payout as part of their nine-figure overall deal the duo signed with Amazon last year. While the married showrunners will create new projects for Amazon, the deal included upfront payment for their services as showrunners on Westworld for what sources say will be its final three seasons (taking it to season six).

Now keep Denise The for every season.

Very glad for the renewal and I always love to see a show get to plan their ending so far ahead, but I am too distracted by the details of their deal: the way that's worded, it looks like Amazon is paying them for these final 3 seasons? Even though the show's still being produced/released by HBO? Am I misinterpreting that?

EDIT: Oh ok, I get it now. Amazon bought out the remainder of their WB contract, and they just wanted to finish the show as part of the deal. Cool.

It’s like how a hockey team will only trade a player they don’t want to actually trade, if the other team puts up the rest of the ongoing contract (usually a season or so).

I can’t believe next season is already the finale! :wow: I hope Caleb is not a one season character. He’s been a nice foil for Dolores.

I love both but yeah I was rooting for Dolores in that fight. :p

Petition for a William/Stubbs/Bernard comedy spin-off please! :awesome:

“Don’t lecture me you ****ing can opener!”

I’m dead. Deceased. Scatter my ashes to the ocean! That line! :lmao:

Man so much great stuff in this episode and damn does it feel like this season went by way too fast IMO. Really crazy to think that the finale is just next week, but I'm definitely hyped for it. Loved all the scenes with William/Stubbs and Bernard and Ed Harris definitely had all the best lines in this episode lol. The fight between Maeve and Delores was pretty awesome too and wow did Caleb just become a significantly more interesting character. Really hope they can bring him back for another season and he isn't just a one off.

Ibthink for me I've found this last season too confusing ( I think I need to watch it through in a binge). I liked the park seasons better. :(

How are we already on the finale?! I thought this season had 10 episodes like the others.

Either way, I really liked it. I like Evan Rachel Wood and Aaron Paul together and I second kvz5 in hoping Caleb is not a one off character.

I find myself getting frustrated with Mauve because I want her and Dolores on the same side.

Through episode of 5, I was loving this season. The last two though...

- Oh look, crazy eyes is back!

- Dude, she is right there in front of you and you are robot. You can’t hit her from there?

- It takes two of Maeve’s crew to take out one Dolores. So clearly:

A crew of Dolores > Maeve and her crew

- Dolores be like:

- And then she be like:

- Ed Harris is treating Thor’s Less Handsome Brother like he is a member of Navy Seals trying to take back Alcatraz.

- The Last of Them or the The Last of Us?!?!

- I like how this is clearly a desktop changing situation.

- The Hammer of Dawn?

- Snow Queen sees Not Samaritan: *swoons* “Just like on Person of Interest!”

Snow Queen sees Not Elias: *swoons* “Just like on Person of Interest!”

Snow Queen sees A satellite: *swoons* “Just like on Person of Interest!”

Snow Queen sees Dolores with a sniper rifle: *swoons* “Just like Person of Interest!”

Snow Queen sees pavement: *swoons* “Just like on Person of Interest!”

- Show basically introduces the Machine that kind of sounds like Finch but is probably the brother…. Okay maybe The Female Monarch Of Nature’s Snow Cones has a point.

- I’m just gonna say it. The goggles are hilarious. Clearly intended to make the wearer look as silly as possible. It's like a jock strap for the face. :funny:

- Where did Thanos find a Switch during the pandemic!?

- Aiden Pearce is suppose to be in Watchdogs, not Phantom Pain.

- I am willing it relive my tragic past as many times as you'd like if it comes with those eyes and that jawline. :atp:

- This place reminds me of a set from Ready Player One.

- How bad does your post-war life have to be, where that is the part you need to forget, not the war?

- Neither living nor dead…

- You are the blade, Blade Runner.

- He’s drinking out of a hot water bottle.

- I thought Veronica Mars' Dad was bad on POI. Being a gangster is one thing, especially when you have morals. But being a part of Big Pharma? That’s just pure evil.

- That is the single ugliest drop ship I have ever seen.

- She brought a sword to a gunfight.

- Come on Big D! Whoop little m’s rather nice bottom!

- Everything Maeve says is like legitimately wrong. It’s like she’s become genuinely stupid. :funny:

Seriously, Maeve be like:

- Maeve just had to turn this into a race thing. :o

- The shot of the drop ship trying to kill Dolores legitimately looked like this in terms of scale:

- William, you really are full of it.

- Of course they had the black guy take the money. Okay, maybe Maeve had a point.

- Man, Veronica Mars’ Dad really only knows how to go out like a punk. :funny:

- That took an hour to get to what was obvious at the beginning of the episode.

- Maeve cheats at Playstation! :argh:

- I have been waiting all season for the rebuilding Dolores scene, and it’s going to be in the finale. :funny:

- Decades of technological advancement, and we are still using the tech Batman uses to mess with the paparazzi. :lmao:

I might be alone on this, but as much I liked the action in this episode, I can't believe how dumb down this season got. It's almost like they got pressured from HBO make the show more accessible to average viewers.

I'm enjoying this season and liked this episode, buuuut -

Seriously, Maeve be like:

Pretty much this. The episode started to feel really weird to me once she showed up. It's the one area this season has dropped the ball for me. They needed to bring her into the various connecting stories more, but she feels more disconnected to me than ever. They established some understandable grounds for a personal grudge last week, but Maeve's willingness to cooperate with Serac feels kinda willfully blind in a way that's frustrating more than it is compelling at this point.

Im not sure if it was on the script or just with Thandie’s acting but there was a moment at tonight’s episode where I thought for sure the lightbulb finally turned on and Maeve was ready to join Dolores but alas...

Maybe the swerve is it isn't really Maeve or something was done to her? Maybe because the system is always watching, they are acting to protect their actual motivates? If not, Maeve has turned very one note, and it isn't a note a particularly like. Especially as if her mission is to protect her friends and family, she really does seem to be going about it the wrong way.
