Amazing pilot. Excited to see what's going to happen next and how the machines will evolve. Also curious to see if they'll feature other similar parks (Romanworld, Medievalworld, etc) like the original film did.

I was a fan of Nolan's Person of Interest. That's what actually drew me in. Interesting pilot.

I have a feeling that the park is actually a front for an operation to develop advanced artificial human bodies.

The word 'Host' could be a clue. That the bodies are designed to host a living human's consciousness to in effect grant immortality to the rich and powerful.

Ford talks about humanity curing all diseases and being close to achieving the power ability to resurrect the dead. We also know that there is a serious ulterior motive behind the park and that the probable trillions that went into developing it aren't spent to just entertain holidaying rich people. Afterall if the park only aimed to entertain it would be cheaper to simply an advanced virtual reality experience.

Wise you could be right.

i enjoyed the premiere . liked everything.
How could a company allow a guest to take a robot and ''rape'' the robot in a barn. Didnt the company see what The man in Black was doing with the robot when he scalped him?

never saw the Yul version & stayed away (As much as I could) from the previews and everything.... Man, this is really bloody good.

Wow, that premiere seriously creeped me out. :p

Interesting pilot looking forward to see the rest of this season.

That is likely part of the experience they sell. Guests can play it as "good" or "bad" as they want. There was even on guy who mentioned that at the start.

How do the guests know which one is a guest and which one is a host? Like what if they accidentally shoot a host?

^ I think you meant to say "guest".

As to your question, the guns that are used have a technology built into them that lets them differentiate and fire different projectiles based on a particular individual's bio-signature.

That's why Teddy's bullets were hitting the Man in Black without any effect; because the MiB is a guest, Teddy's internal programming - which prevents him and all the other hosts from harming the guests - kicked in and the gun he was using essentially fired 'blanks'.

i was unable to watch it last night, so is Westworld like "The Matrix" where you mentally plug in like VR or is it an actual real life setting that you physically travel to?

^ It's a place that you physically travel to, although we don't yet know where its precise location is (or even when precisely the show is set, although Jonah Nolan apparently accidentally let it slip in a BtS interview featurette put out by HBO that the show is set in the 21st Century).

Wow, that sounds pretty intense... I'll have to definitely check it out.

thanks!

Yup I meant guest and thanks! That explains it.

The delay in production was narrative-based, not technicality-based, as they realized that they were barely scratching the surface narratively and wanted to put the time in to examine and think about all of the possible avenues and narrative ramifications of the "Pandora's Box" they'd opened. Taking a break from active production gave them the opportunity to do all of those things and map out a 5-year gameplay Babylon 5-style.

I love the original movie and the first episode did not disappoint.

But I do hope for a Roman World and a Medieval World. Maybe they're saving for future seasons.

Considering the cost and the amount of advertisement, that is a much needed result.

since the robots look and move like real humans some robots could be humans and some human characters could be robots.hidden. correct? i would be afraid if this was from a bad writter but in J. Nolan i trust.

It was visually great, I especially liked seeing them creating the robots, but I found it a bit dull.

Nice start.
I was a bit disappointed that the gunslinger was a guest and not a host like Yul Brynner in the movie.

on another site someone asked . what if Man in Black didnt rape her in the barn but changed her program.
