The Dark Knight Bale's rendition; what should stay and what should go?

It's just when I do watch it I'm expecting the boy to say, "Wow, thanks Mean Joe" LOL!

I think Bale should try some variety in his Batman voice.I loved it but at times it sounded forced.
The only thing that made me ok with it was the scene with Alfred right after he saves Rachel.
Alfred says something like "the only reason I didnt call the white coats blah blah wasnt about grandstanding" and Wayne says "Its not" in his Batman voice.
And each time he spoke after that his voice slowly went back to his Wayne voice. So I was able to see(hear) the transformation from one extreme to the other.
Thats when I realized he (as Wayne) is forcing it (as batman) so the voice sounding forced took on a different meaning. umm, hope that made sense :p

And if he smiles in the sequel i'd like them to cap his teeth. Otherwise thats not the smile of a billionare playboy. You've got to keep up appearances in a position like that.

lmao, you always make me laugh, very nice. What an image :D

I can't beleive you guys are complaining about it sounding "forced"

IT"S SUPOSSED TO BE FORCED..... Bruce never talks like that ever, and to change your voice that dramacially, your going to have to force it..... he talked like that so when he questioned and talked to people as Batman, no one would have any idea who he was...... plus, if someone grabbed you, pulled you up 10 storys, and was yelling at you, what would scare you more, and harsh, deep, pissed off voice, or a voice that sounded normal, Batman uses fear as a weapon, and making his voice animalistic, is one of the best ways to top off the fear..........

Cap his teeth?

What's wrong with them? They look good enough for me.............and his Batman voice is fine the way it is. I just hope he has another scene like he did with Flass again.........

Gawd I love that scene :)
I think Retroman was kidding. :p
Atleast the way I took it, like gangsta cap his teeth in gold or something.

I think ya'all are missing the point about the forced voice.
We know he is trying to sound scary. What we mean is it sounded silly scary at some points. As in if someone was talking to you like that you would giggle even if they were hanging you by your feet 10' up.

^Bruce Wayne with a grill

I'm doing a Manip now of that!!!

If you can, manip a pic from the flass scene when he is showing the upper and lower teeth :D
And you better post it if you really do.

That's not his real voice.
I understand why he would want to disguise his voice...

It's like he's doing some lameass Clint Eastwood impersonation.

Of course, if consumers never challenge the quality of the products they buy they will never get what they really want :)

It's not milk we're talking about here:)

Batman's voice is supposed to be scary and "forced", to put fear into the criminals and to keep his secret identity, er...... secret . Bale said he portrayed Batman as an animal when in the suit and his Bat-voice was awesome IMO:up: :)

if they do have Harvey in this film, or the next, I want Batman to go off on her like that, then she kisses him on the noise.....

what would he do then???

'Scary' and 'forced' are not synonymous: one can sound scary without being forced, and one can sound forced without being scary.

I meant that what some people here perceive as "forced" is actually rather natural. I don't think Bale's Batman voice is forced, for me it is deep, scary, raspy and very animalistic. I wouldn't have it any other way and I don't think it could be improved upon from Bale or anyone else for that matter.

Okay here we go:

Bale's performance should undergo a single change: His Batman should get better.

I don't mean his portrayal of batman should get better. This was the FIRST batman movie (well besides the TAS films) where I liked the Bruce AND the Batman. I loved his elemental fury. I loved the raspy bat-voice. I loved the intensity of the stare.

I just think Batman's obsession level should increase and his fighting should become even more efficient. He's been batman for a little while now. He's getting better.

So often they use the "should I keep on the mission or should I quit and start a family or get married etc" device. I hope they don't do that. I want Batman to be an obsession story. I want Batman to be worried that he might go too far, not that he'll want to quit and get married. But that's all in the writing.

I'd also like to see him scare the bejeezus out of somebody just by staring at them, but I'm okay if he doesn't do that, because, as I've said before, that's not really Bale-Bat's style. It would be cool, though, to see him by the end of the third movie have become so complete and terrifyingly badass that that's all he has to do.

I want to see Batman grab one of the old mob bosses, and actually scare them to death... he's accidently gives them a heart attack....

You people nitpicking the lighting are out of your minds. Completely out of your minds, you're picking apart Oscar nominated cinematography (a comic book getting Oscar nominated for cinematography is pretty extraordinary). AND the ASC Awards. They got it right, it's a brilliantly shot movie. I hope Wally keeps doing what he's doing because he knocked it out of the damn park and I'm sure he will again.

What would you like to see stay in his performance?
Umm... As long as he dosn't start acting like Adam West or George Clooney thats fine.
What could he improve on?
His voice
What do you feel he should get rid of?
The 'sounds like he's been smoking for 20 years' sound in his Batman voice.
What should he add?
Maybe he can talk Goyer out of writing more one-liners in the script?
After seeing his performance do you trust him with taking liberties in the role as much as you trust Nolan if you liked BB?
Maybe.

with Goyer just overseeing the writing and Jonathon Nolan doing most of the actual fdring, I think we can count on a significant decrease in one liners

Just because we are nitpicking doesnt mean we dont love it :)

The one liners weren't so bad. I actually liked all of them.

I like his Batman voice too. It would change b/c he had to either higher it or lower it for distance. Like, when he was talking to Rachel in the Batcave....no other sounds really around them, it was very quiet so he didn't need to yell it or talk above some sounds around him. Whereas in exacping Arham, he had to yell he brought his car.

I liked his many facets of Bruce Wayne.

The only thing I see that could change is Bruce Wayne himself, which I think we saw at the end of BATMAN BEGINS. So, that is.....getting the Bruce Wayne that donates money to Gotham charities and becoming somewhat of a help to the Gotham community with his money, kinda like we see in BTAS and the comics.
