I was hoping for Catwoman but was honestly very pleasantly surprised by the Bane news. can't wait to see what Nolan does with him.

I was actually hoping it was sleeveless!,lol.....But it's a great drawing and perhaps it would work IF there going with Bane seen as an evil Batman.

I'd love for the fight with the Mutant Leader from The Dark Knight Returns to be adapted into the fight with Bane, for Rises.

Imagine Bale's Batman telling Hardy's Bane, "Okay boy...show me!".

I don't think Bane should wear a ton of armor, i just see him as a very 'raw' guy when it comes to fighting. But if he does wear some kind of vest etc, i don't really mind.

I hope they keep the mask somewhat recognizable (if he has one). For some reason i have a feeling that he will take the mask off quite often, and only wear it for special occasions.

My guess is that we will see the origins of at least one if not both of these "villains." My reasoning includes the recent news that Nolan has been scouting in Romania. I know in the comics bane comes from south america, but tarm hardy isnt spanish at all. But im sure he could act romanian. Or maybe selina is from romania. I hope not, because i cant picture anne hathaway doing an accent.

I was thinking, and it might be a stretch, that in the film, Venom can cause the brain to get swollen up, thus making the head vulnerable. SO.....that's why Bane wears a helmet-type mask just to protect the head.

Either you're very young, or you don't know how this 'geek game' works when it comes to "disappointment."

Bane was never used. The Batman & Robin version doesn't count because that wasn't Bane. That was a generic musclebound idiotic henchmen that just happened to have a Bane mask on.

And while the Catwoman in Batman Returns was actually a very interesting and successful interpretation of the character I think it is kind of silly to expect Nolan's version to be similar to that one. Selina Kyle will be portrayed in a different but successful way too hopefully.

P.S. That is pure BS. You will go see the movie so stop making pointless protests. I am sure your ass was sitting right in the movie theater when The Dark Knight came out. By your logic you shouldn't have seen that movie either right? I mean Two Face and The Joker have already been done.

That is a very interesting angle, actually, since this is the first time that a villain will have a mask hiding his true identity, along with CW. Crane was weraing it just to make his toxin more effective.

This can provide for many thematic opportunities.

I'm fairly certain we won't see the tubes. Venom can be easily incorpareted into Nolan's universe as some sort of ultimate performance enhancer with nasty side effects. The combat gear theory seems like a pretty solid one IMHO and I'm sure he'll have a mask, though it will be heavily redisigned.

I was gonna edit my post to include your comment, however I think that even by not giving his true ID any gravity, it can be used as a theme. Bane being a nobody under that mask and CW bearing some importance to Bruce (and, of course, Batman being the ultimate somebody)... I'm not sure where I'm going with this since I don't know the plot, but I find it interesting.

Oh, another thing I thought of: Bane seems like the equivalent of Venom for Spider-Man, or Doomsday for Superman. He's a fairly modern character who has become notorious for something, but isn't a long-standing classic character. I'm hoping that Bane hasn't just been forced on Nolan because he seems cool to do. He's not really the character I'd like to see round out this trilogy.

I'm pretty sure no one ever forces anything on Christopher Nolan. He pretty much gets complete control and the studios beg him to please please please make another movie. I'm serious - he is one of the few directors who really seems to totally call the shots.
