Batman: Arkham City

I don't have an issue with the character models.
They're more detailed and I think, generally speaking, they look better.

My only disappointment about this whole project is Arkham Origins not being included.
That's the one that had the most potential out of a remaster.

I and many others here would love an origins remaster. But that game was WB Montreal not Rockstrady so that's why we aren't getting it. But you really think some of these new character models especially face wise look better?

The environments, lighting, shadows, textures definitely look better - but the character models still don't look very good.

Something that I noticed - during the actual gameplay the Batman model in the remasters does look better, but then in a cut-scene the model in the original looks much better. It's strange.

I'm torn on this one, as a huge Arkham fan I've been dying to replay Asylum and City since I played Knight, but I've been holding out to wait for the remasters to do it. Just not sure if their worth shelling out $65 for.

Looks like ****. Ill keep my originals and skip this demaster release.

It seems like in almost all of those pictures that the background is improved, but the character models are either downgraded or altered. Harley doesn't even look the same, it literally looks like a different person wearing the same costume or something. Weird, I've never seen a situation like this with a remaster.

Lara Croft's model changed two times.

I was talking about this to someone else earlier, but wasn't Origin hated when it was released? I remember people being upset about the voice acting, the many glitches/bugs, the recycled map, and the story revolving around the Joker yet again.

It's still mostly regarded as not being very good and not being up to par with Rocksteady's games from the general public, but there a couple places I see like on here and on NeoGAF where it's generally liked. I for one has always thought it sucked but I suppose I'm the minority around here.

There was no complaints about the voice acting or the plot, but the bugs were an issue. Now its regarded as a great game and many of us rank it as best.

I also thought it was okay. Not on par with the others but still passable. Though I have heard some people defend it by saying that if people didn't know that Rocksteady wasn't in charge of it, then they'd look at it more favorably.

By voice acting, I mean that people were against Conroy/Hamill not doing the voices. Between that and Rocksteady not making it, I've always heard it considered to be the red-headed step-child that a lot of people don't like to talk about. It wasn't until the remasters were announced that suddenly I hear everyone praising it and saying they're going to pass on the other two.

Oh right, yeah there was disappointment when we heard Conroy and Hamill were not doing it. But when we heard the voice replacements, everyone was really pleased. Troy Baker does a great Hamill impression.

The critical fans used to like to believe before AK came out that it was the red headed step child, and it wouldn't even be acknowledged in AK. Then AK came out and was full of references to it. That pleased me greatly.

I wouldn't say it was hated so much as a whiney, over-reactive vocal minority decided they didn't like it.

Origins has a varied reputation; on the business side and on the technical side, it's easy for critics to write it off as a rushed cash-in, but in terms of writing, vocal performance, and in terms of some of the conceptual additions, it's seen as a clear example of how much WB Montreal loved the series. Basically, if you get a bug-free copy, it might be competing with City for you, depending on where you rank story and gameplay innovation. If you think that story is more important, you might go for Origins just because of how cohesive and well crafted its story is (even the side missions that link into the main missions) in comparison to the more fetch-quest plot of City. But if you're looking for excellent gameplay innovation, and a lack of any kind of broken gameplay mechanic (like the electro-gauntlets), you'll probably prefer City.

Asylum still gets a grace favor thanks to being the first game and having fantastic atmosphere, so in the original three games, Origins was kind of an honorary third place. But Knight kind of threw that for the loop, thanks to its own bugs, lackluster storytelling, and having its newest and most hyped gameplay mechanic be kind of regarded as a mediocre addition.

I still think Origins is the least of the series. It's a good game, but it has too many drawbacks with performance, mechanics, and narrative (the twist with the real villain really brought it down for me). How you feel about it greatly depends on how you feel about Knight, I've found. And I'm generally more positive on that game than some others. But both games got a mixed response.

Interesting, I've yet to play Knight, but as of now, I've always felt the Rocksteady games are 9's, and Origins was an 8. Basically more of the same, but without the polish, and you can almost tell someone else made it.

That's why it surprises me how highly people speak of it. But I guess you're right, AK may have changed how people feel.

Origins has the best story far and away and I think it also has the best character designs, but it is lacking in other areas.

They are not more detailed. That is the problem, which is quite clear in the images. It is like everyone got airbrushed.

For myself I never experienced any glitches except for one which only happened sometimes. Which was the audio being off when grappling up to the Batwing. Other than that I didn't experience the glitches others did. And for me Origins is still my favorite.

For sure best story, character designs and characterizations. All executed very well  And they nailed the Christmas setting. That's something that was missing big time in Knight. It takes place on Halloween yet you don't really feel like it does at all. Origins however nailed the holiday aspect.

I play Arkham Origins every Christmas. Just love that festive feeling in the game.

The actual in ga,e footage looks like a decent upgrade it seems to be cut scenes that have the problems.

The colour is enhanced which could be throwing something off.

Still think Arkham Origins should be in this collection.

The bad redesigns are the deal breaker for me

Arkham Origins has remarkable replay value. A bit of a shame it doesn't seem to be getting a sequel/continuation.
