Spider Man 2- hands down as of now the best superhero flick of all time.
Iron Man was excellent and is definitely better than the 1st Spidey.
But the Dark Knight is coming and when that happens....................

WE MAY HAVE A NEW NUMBER ONE.

Yes indeed. :word:

In a way I don't want to say Iron Man is my favorite comic film, I want to say that it was an X-Men film (my all time favorite comic), or a Batman film (perhaps the greatest character of all time), or a Spider-Man film (whose early stories lend themselves perfectly to screen), or even Marvel's first family, the Fantastic Four. I want to say that because Iron Man is a character who is C-list at best in the eyes of the public, and so rarely does he produce any good stories on top of having the crappiest rogues gallery in...well...nearly ever. Yet for me I've now resigned myself that Iron Man set the standard for comic film excellence. It started an interconnected universe, it told a story that was true to the comics, taking most of itself from the pages themselves, while finding a way to appeal to a mass audience. It was filled with great performances, and it escalated a character above his status.

For once I'm not caught up in the hype of a movie which basically butchers it's characters. For once I saw a comic film that felt like watching a comic. For once I watched a director and cast who were doing more than collecting a paycheck...and it was awesome.

Sorry, but I totally disagree with that. A lot of the dialogue in BB was actually very cheesy (ugh, those one-liners) and faaar from oscar material. Some of the delivery was just awful. It is one of the weaknesses in BB, IMO.
Yeah, you could basically use Batman Begins to teach a class called "How never to write a script: 101".

The cheesey one-liners (nice coat), the bad cliche' dialogue (It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me), the exposition (He'll be taking the train, straight into the heart of Gotham). Thanks Goyer, I would've never figured out what was going on by, godforbid, watching the film...I'm so glad you were there to spell it out for me. While you're at it through in some awkward humor, no one will notice.

To each their own, but I loved the dialog. Batman Begins is just a waaaaay better movie than all the superhero movies out there and that is non questionable. The only weakness in the movie was the fight scenes which were too close and uninspiring and also Katie homes. One of those problems has been fixed in TDK but as for the fighting? I hope so for god's sake. As for cheesy? let's not get on spider man...MY GOD!!!! Green Goblin was just cheese written all over him. The only fear I have is the Goyer side of TDK who was also the bastard responsible for the worst memories of BLADE. Still can't believe Goyer could do all that horrible junk.

can whoever moved this to DC comics films undo that please??? This is not a DC comics thread since it actually has Marvel characters too. please put it back where it was or in the appropriate thread due to the fact of fairness and actually not beating the purpose of what I was doing by running this poll.

surprised by the lack of x-men loving on these boards....

the first x-men film is probably the best continuous story in any comic book film. real threat, real menacing bad guy, real need for entire cast. the only thing that lets it down was a mediocre budget.

I almost fully agree but they changed the essential story arcs which throws that whole movie out the window. Iceman not an X man yet? Rogue a teenager? Storm very badly acted...Cyclops miss used completely in all three movies...nah X men just aint on that level that Batman Begins and Iron man are on. I just put spidey up here honestly coz I know many friends who loved it, but seriously it's too childish and kiddie to me.

well rhodey was pretty much underused in this film and so was stane so....

:o

At least magneto had purpose and a great actual idea to make the mutant movement important by making important people mutants. He also showed the 'do as i say, not as i do' atitude by not willingly wanting to kill himself for the cause and rather the life of rogue. Great dialogue between xavier and magneto as well and it also had the best balance of having wolverine being central because it was roughly surrounding him (unlike the other two films which had no right to be wolvie centric).

I'm not doubting it had its flaws but as a script, I believe its the strongest of all superhero movies even though it's actually the most original. I can almost forgive it considering it occurred so long ago.

I just remember that cage fight scene from wolverine, no scene in a superhero film has had that sort of impact showcasing a character for the first time, not even nightcrawlers ass whooping or blade in the club in the first film. It's the only time ive been convinced the comics had come to life.

Singerverse X men just doesn't do it for me AT ALL!!! His whole flamboyant style of directing in his movies is annoying when it comes to comic stuff. Superman and Xmen suffered the same problems to me and just don't do it for me.

Batman Begins with Iron Man at a close second. However, it appears that the Dark Knight will be number one by the end of this summer.:brucebat:

'Batman Begins' - A great film, a great cast, a great story, a great gallery of characters, a great movies. 'Batman Begins' is "great" in every way possible with the exception of a few flaws that can't hold it down from being a truly great film.
**** out of *****

'Spider-Man' - I honestly think this film is way too overrated, I like it a bit I must say but I'm just disappointed watching it now I mean they get some things done right but they get so many things done wrong. From the scene where Parker literally revealed that he was Spider-Man in both the cafeteria and the school hallways(proves how stupid the background characters are in these films from: "It's Spider-Man!" to "It's a Web... Go, Spider-Man! Go!") to the horrid final fight sequence where half of it, is the Goblin doing backflips and making weird gestures while doing so. Fight sequences in this film are the main problem really, everything else is fine, if not good, if not enjoyable. 'Spider-Man' is a "good" movie, not as great as people seem to believe it is, well, at least in my opinion.
**1/2 out of *****

'Spider-Man 2' - I love this film, as many people do. Unlike 'Spider-Man', I believe that this film deserves all of the respect it's gotten. My only problem with this film is the love story between Mary Jane and Peter(unlike the first one), and Mary Jane herself. Other than that, terrific film.
**** out of *****

'Iron Man' - So far, this film is the best recieved film of the year, and it's not hard to see why. 'Iron Man' is a fantastic origin story and a fantastic movie all together. Honestly the most fun I've had in a while with a film, I can honestly see a sequel for this film being two-times better, which will be like perfect, if not, near it. The only thing wrong with this film is the final act but that is all washed away by the rest of this powerhouse film.
****1/2 out of *****

Winner: IRON MAN

+1 Very well expressed. I agree 100%.

My #2 would be a tie between Spidey2 and X2.

To this day I just can't get into Batman as a character, and his movie makes me feel the same.

Batman is a good hero. Batman Beyond is a good hero movie.

But neither appeals to me. ( I've always felt Daredevil was a better super hero...movie sucked)

The thing about Iron Man that makes it so great is that I've like Iron Man even less than I've liked Batman. As a comic book hero I just think Iron Man is simply blah.

But the movie was so well put together (acting, directing) and the CGI was toned down just enough to really put the movie in my #1 super hero movie spot.

Batman Begins is still unmatched today, in terms of its scope, maturity, and filmmaking sensibilities.

But here's my top 5 favorite superhero films
1 Batman Begins
2 Spider-Man 2
3 Superman: The Movie
4 X2: X-Men United
5 Iron Man
