It's either Gyllenhaal or they give it to an almost unknown/rising star type actor
though if the first debuts in 2020, Gyllenhaal will be 40 but can easily pull off early 30's. I just wonder if he would contract himself to a trilogy especially considering how he really enjoys doing indie films.
I recall early 2000's when just about every young actor was in the running for Superman, but many hated to sign on for 3 films. Josh Hartnett in particular. Maybe better, so that Superman/Clark Kent would be played by a lesser known actor.
Im at a point where it has to be Gyllenhaal or I won't see it in the cinema. After Justice League (which I didn't see in a theater) and The Last Jedi, I think I'm burnt on expensive blockbusters. They're just not doing it for me. I need an announcement that makes me crazy excited or I just don't care anymore. There's too many movies past and present for me to watch and be excited about. A DCEU batman film with a director that makes "alright movies" with some meh actor replacing a crappy one like Ben Affleck...that's just not worth my money or excitement in my eyes.
Thank God Reeves approach is to make the movie noirish and Hithcock-like.
I think thats why he wants an actor like Jake. He fits more this approach and vision than a blockbuster type actor does. Ryan Gosling is another one like that.
