Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread - Part 2

Yeah, I could see Kebbell as Bruce. He's a great actor. Shame he was in FantFourStic. I actually think he might have made a good (comic accurate) Doom.

Luke Evans, Jensen Ackles, Oscar Isaac, Michael Fassbender, Richard Armitage, Armie Hammer, Karl Urban, Scott Adkins

A lot those guys are near 40 or more. Karl Urban wouldn't be cast neither would Ackles. Cetainly not Adkins.

The best A-lister was Gyllenhaal, but since he doesn't want it; I figure they would go with a slightly unknown actor - Tom Cullen or someone in that vein.

Yeah, I'm on the Tom Cullen and/or Toby Kebbell train.

I keep seeing people say this here, and I've seen nothing to suggest that's actually true. Gyllenhaal denied that he was Batman, yeah, but he could still have very easily been lying due to contractual reasons. Heck, the movie he's doing with the Deadpool 2 director isn't even shooting until sometime next year. I'm just not entirely sure that he's out of the running yet. It's definitely possible, but we'll see what happens.

Tom Cullen would be great- as long as he can do a good American accent. However I think Toby Kebbell is probably a more likely option over Cullen due to his existing association with Matt Reeves.

Kendell is a good actor but Cullen looks more of a Bruce Wayne to me.

I think if Jake were cast as Batman, he'd have to drop the Division and a few others. He'd need to pump some more iron and be prepared for easily 4-6month shoot. He's filming the Dan Gilroy film and then set to film either the Welcome to Vienna or the Finest Kind right after.

Cullen just seems like an unlikely option to me. Not a bad one, especially if he can do an American accent well, but I'm not sure that Reeves is going to opt to go the old school way of casting for a part.

Based on what we know about how Gyllenhaal entered the scene to begin with, Reeves approached a few actors and talked with them about the role. I'd be surprised if Cullen was one of those guys. Kebbell, on the other hand, wouldn't surprise me.

I just want Jon Hamm as Batman. I know it's really unlikely to happen but there was that rumor he met with Matt Reeves too.

I've seen Hamm's name put forward before. I think he could do it. He's a few years older than Affleck though. I'd be surprised if they went older.

One thing I hate about the role of Bruce Wayne is it seems we always get the same 10 to 12 names put up for the role. Some of the outside the box choices feel too outside the box for the role. There's no standout. It was the same way when batman was being cast for bvs.

Were people suggesting Cullen and Kebbel back then, though?

Maybe a small handful of people on the Internet in general threw out Kebbell's name prior to BvS, but as far as I can tell, it wasn't particularly common. Beyond that, I know I threw his name out there a few times last year during the initial rumors of Affleck possibly leaving the role.

And as far as I can tell, the Cullen fancasting only just started recently here at SHH.

No but I'm not talking about the very few new names that crop up. I'm talking about the typical list:

Matt bomer
Jon Hamm
Luke Evans
Karl urban
Jake G
Ryan Gosling
Richard Armitage
Scott Adkins
Jenson Ackles
Christian bale

And so on.

Ah, yeah I see what you mean. I could see Jake or (maybe) Gosling but that’s it. Armitage would have been great 10 years ago. Bale isn’t coming back; people need to let that one go. Evans might be good but I think he’s too C-List. Same with Urban. I can’t really see it with Bomer or Hamm; both great actors who might suit a different superhero, just not this one. Whenever I see someone bring up Adkins or Ackles, I have to laugh.

Even if Luke Evans is C list he would be perfect as Bruce Wayne/Batman because he is lesser known even though he is well known for most of his roles he hasn't taken on an iconic role which is why Batman is perfect for him

Evans just doesn't have the charisma needed for the role. I genuinely like him as an actor, but I don't think he has what it takes to lead this franchise. He's better in supporting roles.

who was being considered for B v S? I seem to recall it was literally just Affleck

Of that list, it's best to go with an unknown actor.

Isn't Scott Adkins a C-list direct to video action star? Come on, there's a better chance 1 of us could be Batman.

Same with Ackles. No way a tv star from the CW lands the role.

Hamm would have worked 5 years ago.

Tom Cullen got very strong reviews for his performance in Weekend. He has chops.

I like Cullen, but I don't think there's any chance he winds up being cast as Batman.

I think he’s talking about fan suggestions.

But, hey, Brolin confirmed that he was in the vicinity of the role 5 or so years ago.

Sort of.

Not really.

Yeah, I really doubt he'll get cast as Batman. He seems like he'd do well, but unless Reeves opts to go for a full blown audition process for the role, I think it's highly unlikely he'll get cast.

Toby Kebbell's biggest advantage is that he's got that history with Reeves already and seems like he will likely end up being a part of The Batman's cast regardless of whether or not he actually lands the titular role.

As far as any of the alumni of actors that have worked with Reeves in the past go, Kebbell is hands down the most likely contender to play Batman. Wouldn't be surprised if we see Jason Clarke or Andy Serkis though as one of the villains or side-characters.

Keri Russell as someone, somewhere in there.

You'll have to forgive me for using an image from Fant4stic as I try to sell him as Batman.
