Also, the It movie wasnt even that good. It basically felt like a wannabe Stranger Things, which is ironic since the book influenced ST.

Totally agree. It was average. Not scary at all. Good characters but modern genre cliches all over the place and too much CGI. Not my kind of horror film. Fine, fun, but overrated. The Wonder Woman of horror movies last year lol.Seriously? Thats what he was teasing? Something thats already been rumored for months?

I think Reeves would have to take it to pretty big extremes to scare WB off. Either that or he's serious about making this a full-blown detective film and they get cold feet over that aspect.Reeves dropping out would be a tremendous blow to the brand right now. Only thing worse would be Jenkins leaving.
In spite of the latest setbacks featuring the character, Batmans still their bread and butter. Reeves hire maintains the integrity of the franchise. Short of immediately announcing his replacement with a potentially bigger name, I dont know how they could come out that hole in the hype stages.
I have to believe WB is doing everything they can to acquiesce to Matt's vision.
Villeneuve is completely off the table for any of the mainline heroes. He's mentioned declining the projects before, and when pressed, he's adamant he's not the right person for those movies as he doesn't have an innate passion for them.I'd be OK with Reeves leaving if they keep Jake Gyllenhaal and replace him with a better director who has worked with Jake before like Villeneuve. Or simply a better director than Reeves. I wouldn't miss Reeves (who i like) if it went down like that. As people around here know by now, i'm a huge Nolan/Bale guy, but i would get even more excited if we had a Villeneuve/Gyllenhaal pairing. Now imagine Roger Deakins shooting a Batman movie too.
In all honesty theres probably about a dozen good candidates for this job at any given moment. Its just within this current landscape I dont see many of those names having a shot.I think Reeves would have to take it to pretty big extremes to scare WB off. If Reeves did walk, the only hire that would instantly wipe away my disappointment would be Fincher, but he's even riskier than Reeves in terms of going to extremes.
Gosling could do a Barry Allen, but we already have a Flash.
