Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread - Part 2

Then if you want to go with someone that is lesser known how about Liam McIntyre

He wants to be a movie star, so Yes he would take the role. But he's too old. We need an unknown. Not someone who you see and you instantly think "Don Draper"

With exception to Bale, literally every movie Batman from Keaton to Affleck was a recognizable face; and Gyllenhaal (who was supposedly up for the role) isn't exactly a nobody. Hell! Keaton himself was initially dismissed as the "Mr. Mom" guy.

Point being, going w/ an unknown could be nice, but that clearly isn't as important to casting directors as it is to fanboys. Likewise, we could do a lot worse than a guy who makes you think of Don Draper. To be fair, Draper often made me think of Bruce Wayne, so it's a wash. lol

I won't comment on the age thing yet until WB tells us what the fudge they're doing with the character. What I mean to say is, we still don't know if we're getting more of the same "tired and weary" Batman or a younger incarnation in the Reeves flick and beyond.

Even Bale was "known". Not some huge star, but he had a significant career and awareness going.

Are you talking about Bale and Gyllenhaal in recent times or back when batman Begins was released ? Jake is considered one of the best actors of Hollywood right now and he's extremely famous.

Same for Bale. I can confidently say that Bale is one of the best actors of this generation. He's famous as well

Then I would go with Josh Hartnett or Colin Farrell as Bruce Wayne/Batman

Jake's pretty famous which is in spite of him doing very dark indie films most of his career. He and Gosling tend to do that rather than the typical audience pleasers like a Chris Pratt or Channing Tatum.

I believe Bale was pretty known in 2004, but not to the average moviegoer in America. He was pretty much the dude from Equilibrium and Reign of Fire. But for most people, they may have recalled he was in American Psycho.

I think Cullen would be a great choice if we're going for an unknown/rising star type. He's def unknown in America. Outside of the show Knightfall which I doubt most folks have ever heard of.

So, Jake Gyllenhaal, who some fans wanted as replacement for Affleck has signed on for a new movie based on a video game, with Deadpool 2 director David Leitch, this rules him out as potential candidate to play Batman.

He said as much in a recent interview where he admitted that he was not going to play Batman. Can we stop fan casting him now ?

Ben is still Batman till they announce someone.

Gyllenhaal being out is less upsetting to me than I thought it would be :funny:

I don’t have anyone specific in mind.
Excited to see who it turns out to be.

Still in the "**** it, let's park a truck of money outside Caviezel's house" camp here.

:oldrazz:

Exactly Gyllenhaal is out so we may as well fan cast someone else for the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman now that being said I would go with the following actors:

- Tom Cullen
- Colin Farrell
- Josh Hartnett
- Armie Hammer
- Matt Bomer
- Ryan Gosling
- Taylor Kitsch
- Oscar Isaac

Ryan Gosling is one of those who could be really awesome if he was directed well. For some reason I just can't really see him throwing on a Batsuit though.

I think they're going to pick someone who is on a "hot streak" in their career or can be referred to as an up and comer. Not someone like Josh Hartnett who took a step back from Hollywood, or Matt Bomer who is largely a TV actor, or Taylor Kitsch who doesn't have a hit to his name and has moved into TV.

Oscar Isaac could be a good Bruce Wayne but I don't really see him as Batman.

Tom Cullen: No opinion other than he doesn't really look like Bruce Wayne to me.

Armie Hammer is an easy pick, but something about him doesn't read right to me. Maybe a lack of intensity?

That doesn’t necessarily rule him out. We don’t know when The Batman will shoot

Yeah, I wouldn't be so sure he's out yet. The film he's doing with Leitch isn't even shooting until sometime next year apparently.

Yeah Tom Cullen may not look like Bruce but then again Bale didn't and look at what happened with him? He was cast and his career more or less took off after that
