Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread - Part 3

It's weird. There's really no young actors on my radar now that I am excited to see in the role.

After googling "actors under 35" and looking through everyone, I'm having a hard time getting a "Yeah, that guy" vibe from any of them.

I really don't care about how much they look like a spitting image of Bruce from the comics. I'm just hoping for someone with that innate intensity and screen presence about them, like Keaton and Bale had.

I agree about there not being any actors under 35 who are standouts... Maybe if they do go younger it would be wise to get an unknown who would totally give it his all.

I agree it's hard to think of someone. I think of someone like Boyd Holbrook...but then I don't know...

They could get someone unexpected who could train for the role and really transform. There are a few up and coming guys, or just less well-known like Cavill before Superman...

I really wanted to see Batfleck and family in a red hood movie. Oh well. I’m really not interested in a young Batman.

To be fair, Bruce Wayne was 25 years old when he became Batman. There are more than a few actors in their mid 20s to early 30s who be an amazing Batman.

I always thought starting with the old, grizzled Frank Miller version of Batmna for the BEGINNING of the DC universe was the wrong idea. Hopefully Reeves Batman is closer in age to his peers like Bruce is in the comics.

If they're really going with a young Batman, I hope they get rid of that dumbass idea of him trying to remain a "secret" for all these years.

Hmmm, I'm OK with them going younger as long as they don't go too young. I assume they would still go with someone over 25 years old. If Reeves really was courting Jake Gyllenhaal for the role, then I don't think they're necessarily going alot younger, just going with someone who can play it a bit younger than the 40+ Batman that Affleck was playing.

That does seem to take my choice of Fassbender out of the running though.

I don't even know what to say or think anymore. This news has me kinda bummed. The DCEU has had hard enough time appealing to a wider audience like the success of Marvel. Yet they somehow think Two different Jokers and Two different Batman will help fix this.
As someone who has supported the DCEU and legitimately and enjoyed it so far, things like this just have me scratching my head and a bit annoyed. Maybe with time and more news coming out it will help.... but right now.... I just don't know.

Prequels are definitely the way to go.
It gives them a kind of fresh start IN the universe created and it eliminates the need to continue a story that just wasn’t working for people.

I don’t think any of them would give a young cancer patient the immense joy Affleck did. I’m gonna miss him in the role.

Reeves is going for a younger Batman so that rules out Jon Hamm and Joel Edgerton

So from a recent article I just read, The Batman would still be related to the DCEU films. I take that as a potential younger Batman for these films taking place years before the events of BvS and JL and Affleck would still be the older Batman for the Justice League Sequels? I guess there isn't enough definitive information to put it all together right now.

If the movies are good, I don’t think they’re gonna care that it’s someone else playing Batman.

Batman is a symbol. Anybody can wear the cowl and have the same effect

Oscar Isaac.... since when is Batman 5'6? :funny:

I'm not worried about his height. I just don't see him as Batman. At all. He's talented, I admit that. But nothing about Oscar says Batman to me.
I've seen Idris Elba mentioned before too. Another casting choice of a talented actor but I just do not see Batman when looking at him.
