Yeah I’m alright with ATJ if they are indeed going younger. He wouldn’t have any issues getting in shape for the role; he’s generally pretty jacked. And he proved in Nocturnal Animals that he can play a dark, scary character.

ATJ was good in Nocturnal Animals, but he kind of struggles/comes off as bland when playing "straight man" type characters. See Godzilla. You could blame that on the writing I guess. But his Nocturnal Animals "toolbox" won't necessarily translate well to Batman.

I'd chalk Godzilla up to writing and directing. Performances don't seem to be Gareth Edwards' strength as a director. The actors in Godzilla and Rogue One all looked like they were sleep-walking.

ATJ makes a lot of sense now that I think about it.

I like him a lot for the part, as well as Nicholas Hoult and Jack O'Connell. My only hold up with ATJ is whether or not his voice can go a bit deeper. Not a big thing for me though as that could still work (i.e. ATJ's Batman speaks in more of a Keaton-esque soft whisper Bat-Voice instead of the usual growling Bat-Voice we expect).

Ugh. I'm gonna get hooked on this casting choice now and get massively disappointed, aren't I?

I was watching this interview on how he studied for and created his character in Nocturnal Animals. Very similar ideology to Gyllenhaal in Prisoners, in that he took it upon himself to form specific ticks and traits that didn't exist in the direction or page. Nothing big, but it's revealing to the type of actor he is.

I think that's pretty likely... If they're eyeing a spring 2019 start date for production they'll need to cast the guy relatively soon so they can get into shape.

Hoping we get casting rumors from legit sources and we can move on from these bloggers!
