Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread - Part 4

I think that's pretty likely... If they're eyeing a spring 2019 start date for production they'll need to cast the guy relatively soon so they can get into shape.

Hoping we get casting rumors from legit sources and we can move on from these bloggers!

I predict a year from now; they'll still have yet to cast him.

A lot more love for ATJ than I thought. Wouldn't hate it I guess if he got it. I mean, I did like that he at least tried the accent in Age of Ultron :P

Russian seems to be one of those elusive accents no one except natives can truly nail. I feel like every actor is criticized for their attempts at it.

Just to follow onto Boom's mad love for ATJ, to go from this to Batman would be pretty amazing

Would be really funny if they cast her as Batgirl, they're both in the right age range respectively

This thread will be pure chaos when we get an official announcement.

Do we even still get those from WB? :funny: Like someone in another thread mentioned the other day, they haven't even confirmed Phoenix as Joker in Todd Phillips' film yet (Phoenix himself did, but the studio has been all but silent on the matter)!

We'll probably get an official press release for Joker sometime this month.

So are we all in agreement that the news that Affleck is leaving will drop the same time we officially get a recast?

I don’t expect them to come out with just “Ben Affleck is no longer playing Batman” and all the negative press that will entail.

The reason all of this is taking so long is because they want to announce the new actor ASAP, right?

Yeah that makes the most sense. That way the focus of the news would be about the new guy/movie rather than Affleck bailing. i'm sure they'll frame it as "Matt Reeves wants to go in a different creative direction and we loved his vision/pitch so much that we wanted to give him the room he needed"

I don't imagine the studio will address his departure at all.

Why would they need to address Ben's departure if they're doing a "prequel?"

Something like "WB and MR are proud to present to you the prequel to Ben Affleck's Batman....Produced by Ben Affleck...."

Then when the movie's a hit and everyone loves the new actor, people would be like "F you Affleck, stay away"

PR job done

This makes the most sense...

Also... what if there are more than one joker in this continuity - i mean, it would be interesting to see how all the leto joker scenes in SS play out again and see if there is room for retcon, manuevering etc and have it that phoenix joker really was the THE joker and died/incarcerated, earlier on in Batman's career, maybe they had a ten year battle which we see play out in 3 prequels and then Leto joker took over the mantel so to speak just to mess with batman and to play on gotham's criminals. It's not ideal, but could work.

I say just have multiple Jokers.

Jared Leto as Pimp Joker
Joaquin Phoenix as The Coker
Jack Nicholson as Medicare Eligible Joker
Crispin Glover as Joker McFly
Andy Serkis as CGI Joker

BATMAN: INTO THE JOKERVERSE

Cause [new actor] is going to look a little out of place in the (presumably inevitable) Justice League sequel?

I think it's kind of funny how much stock people are putting into the "multiple jokers" idea when it hasn't even been paid off yet in the comics... It could end up being the worst story idea within the last 10 years, yet people are still saying "They should do 3 Jokers in the DCEU!!"

He wouldn’t though.

People will be used to the new actor by the time we get another Justice League movie.
If we ever do.

We could have a couple Batman movies by then.
People won’t be wondering where Batfleck is :funny:

With credence to Reeves denying the Year One rumors, are we going back to actors over 30 for Batman?
