Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread - Part 4

I want a Batman movie unlike the others. We've seen him portrayed as a bit of a psycho. A troubled soul. A brute force tank. For once could we have a very intelligent and clever guy who is not only super observant and great deductive powers like Sherlock Holmes or House etc. Someone who can read people very well. Someone who rather than coming in like blockbusters guns-a-blazin blowing crap up instead plots a huge sting operation much like Ocean's 11 or something like that and takes the villain down using minimal violence and brute force? A Sherlock-Bond hybrid. Master of disguise. Escape artist. Scientist. Magician sleight of hand master. Who just happens to wear a costume when he needs to but use it very sparingly. Make it about the man and his skills and knowledge not his gadgets so much. And give us Oracle to help him. Make her part of the team. Alfred has his place as advisor and confidant and possibly useful in the field. But Oracle is in his ear when he's on an op. And he's mostly covert using disguises. And the car is also covert until he needs it not to be.

Great post, this is also what I’d like to see. It would feel very fresh. I want to see the Batfamily unfold organically though, they should start with Robin, and eventually we should get Batgirl, pre-Oracle.

Get some Matches Malone action in there!

James Wolk? Google says he's 6'4 and only 33.

I'm a fan of James Wolk, he's done a variety of roles, but I don't know if he would be good for Batman. He's actually one of my favorites as a potential Superman if Cavill is gone though.

He would make a great Clark, if he was dedicated and got into Cavil shape, he would be good. He would need to start now though as 33 gives him a good 10-15 years if he is dedicated and into it.

He's 33? Well then, cast him now so that we can maintain the Superman/Jesus parallels. :o

Jesus is believed to have been 33 when he was crucified.

I'm eye-rolling at the sites acting like this is something putting his future as Batman into question. He could be stone cold sober and the questions would still be there, and have been ever since he exited the director's chair.

There’s no reason for him to be as jacked as Cavill. Superman doesn’t need to be huge for what should be very obvious reasons.

All the while I was pretty sure he'd be back despite what anything out there said, but now I'm confident he's done after this.

I am deleting that picture. Several complaints already, and I sort of agree. No one needs to see that.

Well, not so bad as a suggestion, but they're looking for an older and bigger star for the role.

Oh, I know. Just throwing it out there in case they change course and go for a younger Hal. But even if they do I suspect they'll go for a bigger name or someone who is a hotter commodity. That's no knock on Wolk, who is a solid actor, but for whatever reason, hasn't seemed to hit that "it guy" status that sometimes propels TV actors to big movie star roles.

Reeve, Routh, Cavill... even Dean Cain looked good with a shirt off - all the movie actors took the weight training seriously - Reeve, Barrel chested and broad same goes for Routh. Cavill is by far the most impressive - the bar is set high for Clark and so it should.

Batfleck BvS compared to reshoot JL is all you need to know about going into a role on form.

so, for obvious reasons, the actor needs to have a happy medium of looking built and ripped.

Regarding Ben, it's sadly safe to say he is out for acting this year, possibly next year - does he even want to go back to certain roles? I think it's best to recast.

Watching The Mist (movie) and was thinking it's a shame they're going younger because Sam Witwer probably could do a bang up job. His Darth Maul voice could be a good warm up to a Bat Voice too.

I wonder if Ben being in rehab will delay any movement for re-cast?

The guy is already in a low place I doubt he'd want to hear an announcement any time soon.

I doubt he'd give a **** either way.

Cavill looks like an overstuffed sausage in BvS. It’s ridiculous. Compare to Reeve or Hoechlin, who are both in great shape, but aren’t as jacked as a Venice Beach body builder. It’s not necessary at all for Superman to be that big.

MoS was the perfect Cavill physique/look IMO. BvS his hair was too slick and looked like he was balding, also the suit looked to "muscle suit-ey" with the painted on abs, same with JL.

MoS suit was great because the abs weren't super defined so it looked more realistic to how fabric would sit on the body.

You say this like it's something that would catch him by surprise. If anyone knows where he stands in regards to this role, it's him. The only ones in the dark here? Us.
