Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread - Part 4

How about Ben Barnes? He was great in the Punisher. He's 37 and 6'1.

Unless they've really gone for a complete unknown or race/gender-swapped, I've a hard time believing our new Batman hasn't been name-checked at least once online during speculation.

Everyone in the appropriate age range has been combed over.
Ditto. It will probably be one of these names and my money's on O'Connell

As a general FYI, some of these actors are older now than a cursory Google search would have you believe. To get the latest image results for one or more of them, try adding 2018 or 2019 beside their respective names.

Case in point, that Irvine guy looks more like this nowadays.

That said, I still can't see him playing Batman unless it's for a CW version of the character à la Tom Welling's Clark Kent on Smallville.

Robles is undoubtedly one of the better scoopers out there, but something about his "list" feels like a random Google search for a bunch of up-and-coming actors in their twenties. However, if there's any validity at all to this, I'm praying O'Connell's the one to nab the part.

Well, a lot of these names have been corroborated by other scoopers so they're all hearing the same actors

How about Penn Badgley from You. He showed some serious chops in that show. 32, but always plays younger.

Though if we're casting 32 years olds, Pattinson would be higher on the list for me. Next to Armie Hammer as Supes.

His co-star Ed Westwick could be a candidate as well, but I don't know about his acting. I'm gonna lump him in with Matt Daddario.
His chin and voice are cool tho.

Dan Humphrey WOULD make a great detective...the greatest in the world? xoxo

I haven’t seen all of these guys before, so I’m working on the assumption that they’re all equally talented.
That's a baaaaad assumption. ;)

So I know I shot down the Richard Madden suggestion a month or two ago for being too boyish, but it looks like boyish is what Reeves wants, and compared to the rest of that list, I'd welcome him with open arms, lol. If Robles' list is accurate, then he and Jack O'Connell are the only two on there I could go for.

That’s interesting, but does penn have the right voice?

He looks the part, but, can he act?

My horse in this race will be probably Hoult. He won't win, most likely, but whatever. I'm not crazy over any other option.

If I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die historic on the Fury Road.

RE: Robles podcast, Hoult is the name I like best out of the "list" too. And he is not really the same as O'Connell. O'Brien or Madden etc. because Hoult is quite tall and can bulk up, the way Aaron Taylor-Johnson did for roles like Godzilla. Hoult can tend to look a bit soft, but a big part of Bruce Wayne would be the training and pushing himself beyond "normal." He is also at the stage where we can see him mature.

If it was between Hoult and Hammer, I would choose Hoult because it is more of a fresh, unexpected choice. And if it is Hoult whom Reeves wants, then I hope WB gives him that freedom rather than pressuring him to go with Hammer.

Remember that Reeves has final say on the casting here via his full creative control on the film. If Hammer is purely a choice that the studio wants, I doubt he'll convince Reeves to change his mind from how he's envisioned Batman to be in his film.

Personally, I think it comes down to Jack O'Connell, Aaron Taylor Johnson or Nicholas Hoult.

I hope so because Variety and now Robles and some other bloggers talking about what the studio wants vs. what Reeves wants did sound a bit worrisome.
