Usually these casting threads throw out a few nuggets & you often see one or two names/faces that you either hadn't heard of or didn't think about for a role, but I'm really not impressed or seeing much Batman in a lot of the suggestions, some of which look boyishly young.

I remember him from War Horse. He was quite young then and did a good job in that movie but I haven't seen him in anything else since then. The last I heard of him he was in Mamma Mia 2 and I avoided that.
Remember that Reeves has final say on the casting here via his full creative control on the film. If Hammer is purely a choice that the studio wants, I doubt he'll convince Reeves to change his mind from how he's envisioned Batman to be in his film.
Personally, I think it comes down to Jack O'Connell, Aaron Taylor Johnson or Nicholas Hoult.
One name I haven't seen mentioned is Max Irons (Jeremy Irons' son). Seems like he'd have the necessary chops, and he's in the age range at 33. I'm not sure he'd be my first choice, but he's certainly better than most of the names that have been bandied about in this thread. At least he'd be a Batman.

Didn't Reeves leave for a time so he could have greater creative control? Some sort of negotiating tactic anyway...
I hope he does have final say for his vision. WB are always bragging about being the director's studio, filmmaker driven...until they start interfering...

He did, yes. From what I understand, Reeves has creative control and final say on casting here because of that. So yes, WB can want an Armie Hammer to their heart's desire, but I think it's telling that every other name in the running is nothing like him.
So I know I shot down the Richard Madden suggestion a month or two ago for being too boyish, but it looks like boyish is what Reeves wants, and compared to the rest of that list, I'd welcome him with open arms, lol. If Robles' list is accurate, then he and Jack O'Connell are the only two on there I could go for.
This week is such a DC roller coaster ride.
Ben is out, it feels inevitable after a while but still hard. He's my personal Batman and Bruce Wayne after years of Keaton on top.
I love Nolan trilogy but the weird thing is that Batman/ Bruce Wayne isn't that impactful to me. Bale is super great though. I don't know what 'the thing' is.
The replacement is a hard topic, but again, inevitable. Most actors on the list are all can act, but so far I'm rooting for Armie Hammer's HammerBat. He's at the right age, could look both young and old, has the chops, chemistry with Henry, the JL member height. I do agree that he's not as hard-edged as Ben in the look department but Hollywood is excel at that kind of magic.
I admit that my main reason is somewhat superficial, but his height is what most other actors in the list didn't have.
Batfleck showed me about what a monster Batman is.
Batman is normal human but peak human and inspires fear and intimidation with many things, including great fit stature and height. Camera trickery can do only much.
I still can't believe RDJ and Tom Hardy's Bane height illusions for the example. Their proportion seems off.
After I went Batfleck, I couldn't go for shorter Batman, at least for a decade.
I want another monster Batman.
And yeah, I do worry because Armie Hammer is 'The Studio Favorite' based on the rumors, but others on the list aren't like him (Hoult and a few are tall dudes too, but not 'HammerBat', if that makes any sense). It seems that he is an anomaly. Never thought that someday Dylan O'Brien is in the consideration of Batman role, but here you go.
Possibly he (Armie) isn't the one that Reeves envisioned.
Every Batman actor casting announcement were always full of backlash anyway, so I didn't think Reeves is afraid to go out of the box.
Reeves is looking for the best fit for his vision, just like Sandberg. He was judging his audition tape (for another role) first and said he is the one, not looking for his stats whatsoever. It's just a lucky extra that Zachary Levi also has the height.
But I hope for the best, the best actor for the job. I'm sure I'll learn to love it anyway.
I don't know any clue about future DC casting nowadays. With Snyder, I knew he loves great visual, character that almost 'mythical', larger than life in quality and actors that could match it, height included . I'm sure besides charm, ability etc, Momoa and Gadot for example trumps others with height as one of the factors.
Look at Gal Gadot in Snyder scenes, you can tell that Snyder always makes sure that she's one of the tallest person in the room. He even carefully picked extras that would emphasize her height, even before the WW reveal. Since her introduction at the gala, other gala, hotel lobby scene, Lex valet photo etc. She even looks as tall as Ben at some part, and I love and miss that.
Smart money is still on Armie Hammer. Any guy whose name floats around that much usually comes back around. Let’s look to the past. Bale was considered for Wolfgang Peterson’s BvS and Aronofsky’s Year One before being cast in Begins, Cavill was considered for both Superman Flyby and Superman Returns before MOS, Ryan Reynolds was Goyer’s choice for Wally West before Green Lantern, Manganiello was a finalist for Snyder’s Batman and Superman before being cast as Deathstroke, and Affleck was courted to direct MOS and an early iteration of Justice League before being cast in BvS. Armie Hammer has a very very high probability of being cast after being cast as Batman already for Justice League Mortal and being one of the finalists for Superman in MOS.
Robles heard from six different sources that Hammer is very much in the conversation and that the studio views him as a compromise between Reeves and WB.
If Reeves wants Egerton or, (god forbid) Noah Centineo, then can we really trust his judgment? I think if that’s the case, we really need the studio to intervene a little bit... For once I trust the judgment of the studio over the director.

I mean I'd still give it a chance regardless of whether I like the casting or not. I'm just saying, I have been wrong way too many times in the past to outright dismiss anything.
A little studio intervention doesn’t have to be bad. Strong arm him into casting Armie so we can have a viable Batman that could believably appear in team up films AND solos without being dwarfed or too glaring of a difference from Ben. Ideally, since the DCEU isn’t dead, we would have a Batman that can slip into Ben’s place in the DCEU without too much of a fuss.
Its a toughie, the director will want the 'talent', the studio who's more likely to bring bankable 'wedge', Hammer's career is building in big ways and now would be the time to 'grab' him if the studio want someone who maybe links 'both' ability of craft & $$$$.
