Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread - Part 4

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JL1Rd98Pv3Y I think this scene perfectly encapsulates why Jonathan Groff is my choice to play Bruce Wayne. In this scene he manages to show a more cold and calculated side of Holden (to be honest I can totally picture this same scene with Bruce and X love interest), and in that little glimpse I saw what could become a really good Bruce Wayne interpretation. Put on top of that the fact that he's a very nuanced actor in the rest of his performance in the show, and I think he'd be very good. He has range.

I'm kind of intrigued by this pick... He doesn't have the best "voice" for it, but that could easily be fixed with a voice modulator as we saw with Ben.

The fact that he's intriguing just furthers makes him my candidate. You cast someone like Armie Hammer and while I wouldn't complain, I can already picture in my mind exactly how his portrayal is going to be, however Groff is an unexpected and solid choice that will make me wonder what he's going to do with the character
before the movie comes out while at the same time being sure he'll do a great job. I kinda like the intrigue of wondering what an actor is gonna do with a character before seeing it on screen (like what the general feel was with Tom Holland's Spider-Man) Makes things more fun and the experience more unique in my opinion.

I also like the fact that he's a solid choice that looks the part and isn't in any random fancast lazy predictable list.

Groff doesn't scream Bruce Wayne to me, but I liked that clip.

I'd suggest checking out Sweet Virginia if you want to see Abbott take on a darker character. Very good movie, and he excels in the role. He also has a movie called Piercing coming up, which has him playing a husband/father with murderous impulses.

Between James White, It Comes at Night, and Sweet Virginia, I think he's my guy.

Abbott seems like a neat pick. As does Groff.

Personally I have a feeling we should keep an eye on Nicholas Hoult too. I don't know if he's my personal pick or not, but I think he fits a lot of the mold that Reeves seemed to be interested in for Batman when he was planning on replacing Affleck for an older Bruce (Gyllenhall, Huston), just at the younger age range he's looking for now (age 25-30).

I like the look of Christopher Abbott, now I need to watch some of his work.

I've only seen Abbott in It Comes At Night. He was good in that film, but I'm seeing the Batman potential way more in the trailer for Sweet Virginia. Kinda reminds me of Oscar Isaac acting wise.

Definitely dig this suggestion.

I just found this guy that I've never seen in any movie but fits the mold so I'm just gonna throw it out there since it's a possibility: Sam Claffin.

He'd have to bulk up even for "ninja" but otherwise he's okay in terms of his looks, I don't really have any complaints.

I'm looking at it more as acting potential than anything else, he obviously hasn't had quite a role like Batman but if he did I think he'd turn out surprisingly convincing and good.

Here's another dude that fits the mold but I've never seen in any ****ing movie: Pete Ploszek.

He did got cast as Leonardo in TMNT so I guess he must be a good corporal actor to embody a CGI turtle for whatever's that's worth.

Hoult's a bit boyish to me...but I don't hate the suggestion either. It could help draw suspicion one identity's the other.

If Hoechlin can act, it'd certainly behoove the movers and shakers over at WB to give the man a screen test. He's got the right look for a young Bruce; he's tall enough; and his facial structure suits the cowl (especially if we're wanting a traditional one).

Nothing against Abbott, but you all know he's another "Teh Puffy" waiting to happen.

Hoechlin can definitely act. I think he might be the best Superman of the 21st century in his hour or so of screen time on Supergirl

I don't watch Supergirl, but I'll take your word for it. He definitely showed a lot of promise in his younger days, specifically in Road to Perdition. I actually recall thinking he'd make a good Bruce or Dick Grayson once he got a little older.

Funny. I'm just now realizing how eerily reminiscent that scene is to Killing Joke.

I like Jude as Joker/Riddler/Zsasz.

I saw Jude Law’s name bandied about a lot before Heath was cast. I’m guessing people got the idea from this movie

Probably not, as Killing Joke came out in '88. I was referring to the parallel between the aforementioned scene (where Law's character grins as he photographs a bloodied Michael Sullivan), and the infamous Barbara Gordon incident in KJ.

You misunderstand, I was saying people wanted Jude Law to play Joker because his role in Road to Perdition May have reminded people of TKJ

I still remember Hoechlin from 7th Heaven.

He talks about Batman briefly in this interview around the 5:00 mark
