Random, but I watched about 20 minutes of Starred Up the other day; and I have to say that O'Connell kid is not only a great performer, but also a scrapper. Height concerns aside, I have no doubt that he'd be able to meet the physical demands of the role.

He’s not right for Batman, but the kid demonstrated some natural acting chops in Dunkirk.

I can easily see him being cast in Nolan’s next movie.

Jack O'Connell is easily my number one pick. I think Taylor-Johnson would be good, and I must admit Irvine and O'Brien pique my curiosity. Pass on the others.

If Reeves is adamant about under 30, I hope there are many more names being considered. Pretty much every young actor would be vying for the part and there are many of them. Especially if unknown/up-and-coming actors are being considered as well as "name" actors.

He'd be easier to consider if there was anything out there that showcased his ability to pull off this role. So far I haven't come across anything. His early work has essentially pigeonholed him into "teenage heartthrob." If he is actually in the conversation for the role, he must have shown Reeves something I'm not seeing. I'm getting zero edge from the guy.

Also, anyone who utters the phrase "I'm hella, like, stoked on" without any irony whatsoever deserves to be slapped in the face.

I don't even know who the hell that is. Nah, back to the teen soaps with that dude.

Of Boom's list, O'Connell's a cool actor, about the only one of those I'd want to have a chance. But admittedly he doesn't really have the look down, like at all. Guess that's not a dealbreaker, but I guess everyone bar Keaton so far has had some resemblance to the usual book portrayals.

Kinda can't see him getting it anyway, he's been in some good stuff but doesn't really seem to have broken as much of a "name".

On Boom’s question... of the under 30 actors I would like Aaron Taylor Johnson or Jack O’Connell too.

Dylan O’Brien could be a maybe for me but he just looks so baby faced that I can’t really see it working.

Look at Christian Bale who was cast when he was just under 30 like these guys... there was no question that he was a MAN. Like he didn’t have this boyish look about him that he could still conceivabley play a teenager in a movie. That’s kind of my barometer for Batman.

Not necessarily... it says Principal photography is already underway so he could be finished with that movie by Summer or earlier.

With O'Brien, put a bit more muscle on him and give him a shorter, slicked-back haircut and I have an easier time seeing it. However, I'm not sure I could ever really buy him in a paternal, mentor role so I feel like casting him would effectively rule out Robin down the road.

He's not my first choice by any stretch, but for some reason the prospect intrigues me. On one hand because it's so left-field, and on the other hand because it would cause the DCEU Reddit to completely self-destruct.
