I wouldn't want Bale back.
I want a fresh more fantastical version of Batman. Something between TDK and Burtons Batman with a more mobile suit and no silly voice. This Batman needs to be more physical. If you look at TDK trilogy, the costumes and fighting are the least impressive parts. Its mostly the story and performances folks dig.
I also want a more Batman Incorporated theme with Robin or Nightwing. If not a sidekick, at least other Batman Incorporated agents.
Court of Owls would be a great semi sci-fi Batman story for a solo movie. TDK is real, these new movies should have real immortals terrorists, test tube Robins, just don't make it over stylized and goofy (Batman Forever, B&R)

It was misreported.. these are the words from Vince Russell:

The author of Beyond Batman, Vince Russell, shares on a page of the book that during this past year's New Year's Eve party he was talking with a friend about Bale being crazy to walk away from the role to which his friend responds "He could probably make $50 million for being in the movie 20 minutes..."

It was just a conversation between friends, which was highly speculative. I've even had these conversations with friends. But Mr. Bale was not offered $50M to play the role, in this account by the author.
