Batman Forever

Well, you know I have actually edited that footage myself for The Real Game Begins and I've seen it pretty closely, repeatedly. The guard is not dead, he is gagged and he is moving. You can even him him trying to talk.

I love the deleted scenes...Just wish they would've added another deep layer of richness to this movie...

I. Love. Jim. Carrey.

Wow. apparently, they removed the best parts from forever. Its a great scene.

It really, really is....and wouldn't be out of place in Batman Returns.

Forever could have been so good....it makes me weep inside. Watching those deleted scenes, reading the Peter David novel, you can almost convince yourself it was.

I have never read the novelization. What diferences are from the novel to the movie?

Where can I find it?

I have no idea. I read it once in electronic form, years ago, along with what I think was a draft of BATMAN TRIUMPHANT. I should have hung onto it. Now, I may be viewing this through rose-colored glasses, but it was darker, grittier, and more serious all around. It basically featured all the good, serious elements of The Riddler and Two-Face and a younger version of Robin, with more for Gordon to do, as I recall. If you read the novelization of BATMAN FOREVER, you will find some elements of it. It's no secret that Goldsman was brought in to "lighten things up". Actually, THE FRIGHTENING script that was out a while sort of reminded me of it. It had that sort of a mystery/action tone.

I'll read it again and go through the major differences. There are a lot.

I would advise finding a copy yourself as it's a great book. I usualyy avoid movie novelisations liek the plague but Forever is a genuinely good novel in it's own right.

The movie novelization of "Revenge of the Sith" is pretty good, too, Kev. :)

I don't care what anyone says, I think Val Kilmer was a pretty good Bruce Wayne

Yep he's still my favorite overall Bruce Wayne out of all the actors. He played all aspects (public, private, Bat-Wayne) closer to what I dig about the comics Bruce Wayne, not just one or the other like I felt with the other actors.

He's my favorite too out of the others.
Kilmer really pulled it off very well with both parts (Bruce Wayne and Batman)
Others did it their own way but Some played Wayne very well but not Bats or Bats but not Wayne very well.

I have always thought Val Kilmer played a better Bruce Wayne and Michael Keaton played the better Batman.
Keaton never went into Wayne mode, even as Bruce he was broody and moody.

Kilmer was great as both. As Batman, he was more of a superhero than Keaton (albeit a dark one), and it really worked that way.

Great pic! at least there was a notable height difference between Kilmer and O'Donell...Clooney and O'Donell looked almost the same in B&R

I completely hated the part where Two Face is constantly flipping his coin until it gets to the scarred spot. Completely un-Two Face.

I'd say the quality of the script, pacing, (Oscar nominated) cinematography, production design and editing make up for that.

AGREED...

does anyone else love the hotness, yet insignificance of Drew Barrymore's character in this movie? Also, the greatness of the song playing in Nygma's apartment in the scene where he comes home from killing Stickly-

"If you hate your boss at your job...But in your dreams you can BLOW HIS HEAD OFF...In your dreams show no mercy..."

brilliance...

What song is that?? That scene with the music had a "The Crow" feel to it. That's not a bad thing either.

I saw Batman Begins before I saw the other Batman movies (well, I had seen them, but I hadn't paid the close attention I did since I saw Begins and got into Batman).

Batman and Batman Returns were decent, but nowhere near the depth of Begins.

Forever, while not as awful as Batman and Robin, was nearly unbearable to me. It was too bright, too colorful, Two Face is portrayed like a 60's Joker.

I'm so glad they rebooted the franchise the right way.

the Flaming Lips - Bad Days.

I actually got the BF soundtrack and actually do like it (I've had it since I was in 5th grade)

and while we're on the subject of Batman and the Crow, to be honest, Begins reminds me a lot of the Crow at times, I guess mainly because of the darkness of the movie, but also Batman and Gordon's relationship and the way they interact in the movie remind me a lot of Brandon's Crow and the cop.

The only thing I remember liking about Batman Forever was Seal's 'Kiss From a Rose' song from the soundtrack.

There is an awful lot to like about Forever, it's close to being great. Lots of nice ideas in the script, a charismatic lead and I find Nigmas's obsession disturbing despite (or maybe because of) the high camp factor

I liked quite a few songs from it, but probably because it was one of three cd's I actually owned at the time.

Actually Forever has a lot more darkness and shadow that it does colour. Most of the movie takes place at night, even those neon signs are surrounded by black.

haha....yes, thanks it's been forever(no pun intended) since I heard that song.
