Batman R.I.P.

DC Comics is not so stupid to kill a character that is a million dolars worthy :whatever:

True but batmans human, so if they bring him back, its gonna be kinda odd, ya know what i mean?

Also, watching all of those Superman historical documentaries that came out just before the release of Superman Returns, DC thought Superman was irrelevant and they felt he needed to die since no one was reading. Batman is more popular than ever now, I just don't believe that they would chop one of their biggest superheroes off the planet.

Exactly.

Superman was going through a slight decline in popularity and money-making, what they did was revolutionary and made them mega bucks along with re-invigorating the industry.

But Batman, at present is their strongest title, it makes the most money, has the most fans and has a *massive* movie out this year. It doesn't make any sense...

Yep! I just can't figure out why another "Batman wil die" thread had to be opened.

Batman RIP is an alternate reality tale of what would happen if batman were to die (confirmed in some Wizard interview they probably deleted)

Just thought you want to know.

Superman was also floundering in the mid 90's, and DC needed a sales boost. So that was a bit different.

Also, DC were intending to get Lois and Clark married but the TV show Lois & Clark told them them to wait until it happened on TV as well....

LOL so Batman is going to quit being Batman to shack up with some chick?

Ok...lets 'think about this... I haven't read much other than the Batman and Son arch of late, but there's been a lot of focus on the media frenzy around this Jezebel chick, so could the big twist be that some reporter finds out that Bruce is Batman? Kinda like DCs version of Spider-Man revealing his identity a while back? Which would then lead to him giving up the mantle of the bat?

Second idea: Batman has ridden the streets of the supervillains, he has fallen in love, there's no need for batman anymore?

Third: There's more to this Jezebel Jet than what has been revealed, she's not just "some chick". Lately, there's been a lot of Biblical references in Batman, and Satanism. "Bethlehem" etc. and Damian is of course the name of the devil's son, at least if we are to believe the "Omen"-movies. Jezebel is also a biblical name, and as described in Wikipedia: "The name Jezebel has come down through the centuries to be used as a general name for all wicked women." Could there be something demonic about this woman too?

The second idea makes no sense, as it wasnt Batmans goal to stop super villains, but to stop ALL crime in Gotham.

Reading this Batman RIP storyline although the dynamic between him and this current Bat-dude is intresing, I still dont get why Morrison thinks we would actually believe Bruce is that sprung over this Jezebel Jet chick. Speaking of which, where did this broad come from anyway? I hadnt been following all the bat-titles for the last few years. By the way, way to be subtle and clever there Grant.
Still dont know what to think about it, but much like the other (and often cringely embaressing) unpopular title of ASBAR, it does seem readable even with all the awful stuff. Lets see how it ends up though......

of course, I'm just putting up some options... "Batman R.I.P" seems like a stupid idea to begin with, so what about some stupid options?

This Jezebel chick is probably trying to control Bruce somehow
