BvS Batman/Superman Pushed Back to 2016 - Part 1

So does this mean official filming won't begin next month? Has pre-production halted as well? And what does that mean for Cavill and Gadot who have already started training to get into superhero shape?

Filming has been moved to Q2, which is April-June.

We haven't heard about that, been wondering the same thing tbh.

At this point whether Terrio is or isn't involved really doesn't make a difference to me. Its hard to spin the delay positively. I know there are people who dont want to hear that , but given WB's track record, im beginning to doubt that this thing, or at least WB's original vision of this thing, is gonna end up getting off the ground. Its not about bashing WB or DC or any other sort of fanboy nonsense arguments .

Its based on their track record minus Nolan inc with these projects. They're a film studio who's focus isn't exclusively exploiting DC properties , so alot of parts come into play. I do think talking about any sort of DCU on film now is premature and a bit laughable given this new delay.

I guess at this point , I'm curious as to what the landscape will be in 2016, assuming they get their act together.

I'd say of course it's going ahead but Superman films have gotten further than this and not ended up getting made :csad:

If that's the case I guess that gives Affleck and Gadot plenty of time to train and get in proper shape. Maybe the pressure is off a little for them, since their deadline has been pushed back a bit. Injustice, is there a source stating this?

The decision was made following the shift of the start of production to second quarter of this year

WB Press Release.

Well how about this saying Terrio is still involved? Not good enough....well continue to panic at will

I called it first... :o

Now seriously, here's what I think is going on. Ben Affleck thought the story pitch was awesome, then he got the Goyer script and almost had a heart attack. So WB hires Terrio to do a complete draft (not only a re-write) on the story pitch by Snyder/Goyer. New script isn't yet finished, hence the delay... basically the production delay to the 2nd quarter of this year falls withing the timeline of Terrio being able to do 1-2 drafts. Just my theory though...:o

I don't see how this can be spun positively in any way. It's a total mess. It's quite obvious that there is no one with a clear vision setting out how they want the DC universe to progress.

This movie was due to begin shooting and they have now only discovered the script is subpar. Quite astonishing. One year is plenty of time to shoot and finish post production.

WB/DC need a leader and one fast or there will never be a JL.

Have WB even committed to anything beyond this movie? Where does this leave JL? 2017? 2018?

I never agree or believe that jett character but for this one quote from his recent post.

..and right on cue – some fans flipped out with cries of “I knew teh movie was going to suck...”

Instead of trying to map out sequels, let alone a mythology, they should focus
on making a good film. If they pull this film off, it will top Ave gers money; this is not something they should pull into, unless they are 100% certain. I believe in them: they delivered a fine trilogy and reimsgining of Superman.

Oh, and never trust Jett. He has a long history of being an unrepentant
troll. Troll is the nicest term that describes him accurately.

I hate it when people state their speculations theories and imaginations as fact. I hate it even more when people make a mountain out of an anthill. I can understand your frustrations but you need to calm down and stop with all the doom and gloom.

If only they knew the Man of Steel script was subpar before it was too late.

Let's go over some big movies that were pushed back, and suffered little when they came out.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (WB) -- November 21, 2008 to July 15, 2009
Star Trek (Paramount) -- December 25, 2008 to May 8, 2009
The Great Gatsby (WB) -- December 25, 2012 to May 10, 2013
G.I. Joe Retaliation (Paramount/MGM) -- June 29, 2012 to March 28, 2013
Man of Steel (WB) -- December 2012 to June 14, 2013

Three were already completed in time for their original release dates, while The Great Gatsby underwent retooling in the editing room and reshoots. In WB's history of moving back big films, the new dates actually worked in favor for them.

Something few people are focusing on is the simple fact that a film of this novelty and momentum would make bucket loads of cash for any studio.

If WB was simply concerned with money they could have pushed forward(as they no doubt have in the past) and share holders would have no doubt been satisfied. This move seems to be fully fueled by an appeal to quality. Given Affleck has now attached his name to this(and with his career and name at stake), I see the people involved beyond the art of cash grabbing.

This particular announcement being met with more groans is fickle imo....but expected around here.

Better now than never, no?

Patience, Grasshopper. ;)

And you are not concerned that they were about to start shooting with a script they were not happy with? Of course it is better to get it right but to be so close fo shooting and then to pull the plug for ten months shows clearly the need to have a leader.

They should hire someone like Dave Heyman ( HP) who has made 8 movies in recent times with WB.

Doom and gloom. It's my first post on the subject matter. I'll leave you all to to rejoice in the postponement.

I've read shooting to begin in May.

I reckon the only way to spin this positively would be the simultaneous production of BVS and JL.
