I think I prefer the second one too, there's a more "dynamic" vibe to it.
On the other hand, despite being skeptical about his ears visible, I think the symbole on his temple really helps to make him recognizable.
Speaking about being recognizable, I find Miller not easy to identify here. I guess it's a good point for a super hero !
