BvS Batman Vs Superman Manips & Art - - - - Part 13

Batman's cape is VERY much a functional tool. Not just in terms of gliding and cover, but in completing his intimidating image, which is one of the biggest tools in his belt.

None of those things outweigh the fact that a cape is a hazard that can get stuck or get grabbed in a fight.

Superman's cape is often justified, as it was in MOS, and similar to how much of his suit is justified, by the fashion and customs of Krypton. 'Hope' anyone?

Yes, and I'm totally fine with that cape being part of Kryptonian fashion, but that still does not make it practical.

Also I really dislike the chest emblem literally meaning 'Hope'.

Now, that said, the exact same could have been used to justify the trunks for Kal, especially in MOS.
First off, speaking in MOS specifically now, Kal's suit is centuries removed from "modern" Krypton, coming from the ancient scout ship. This is emphasized/showcased in the colours. Superman's suit has more colour than all other modern Kryptoinian's put together, lol.
Modern Kryptonians clothes are all but monochromatic.

Tell that to the people who think the Jor-EL AI made the suit at the same time he was talking to Clark.

That applies to your limbs, and any weapons you possess. An untrained person with a gun is just holding a weapon to be used against themselves.
This is a fallacious argument.

I didn't say it made it practical, I said it was a "justification."
His \S/ isn't "practical" for anything either. Superman's cape also is not impracticable/a threat to himself: "You don't tug on Superman's cape."

Well, they're probably half right. It's probably that he was "assembling" it, but he was still using centuries old resources. In otherwords, it more than likely was fashioned from the materials and uniforms the ship would have obviously had on board. As we know that the ship contained at least one representative with the same house glyph, confirmed in the prequel comic, but even still, why wouldn't they simply have all the houses available to be represented in their garments.

It makes no sense for Jor-el to make something entirely from scratch, with a plethora of available suits, glyphs, and capes.

Actually no it isn't. No superhero that wears a cape would ever have the same control over it as they would over their own limbs. As for the weapons, those usually no attached to the neck like the cape is.

Actually the practicality of the S, in the context of Kryptonian culture, would be that it makes him easily identifiable as a member of the House of El.

That still doesn't explain the colors. Everyone in that comic also wore the same black outfits current kryptonians wear.

It's nice, but.. I can't help but feel it would carry more weight if whomever made that didn't fuse the Batman Returns suit with the Batman Begins one..

I thought it looks better than I remember it.

Gadot is pretty much the same size as Carter. Funny how people don't comment on the former :cwink:
First, no, she isn't, at all.
Second, Carrter's WW is from the 70's, and we all know how physical fight scenes went on 70's tv shows....

I guess you've never watched a single Batman movie or cartoon, or read any of his books.

Um, yeah, on KRYPTON. On Earth, he has no need to be distinguished from other houses.
On Earth, at this point in the DCEU, it serves just as much as an identifier as the big red flowing cape on the flying man.

Really, you're being pedantic and grasping straws with this one.

Hmm, that might be true, I haven't read the book since before the film came out, lol. I may have simply mis-remembered it.
. . .

You know what, you're absolutely right:

No I think we're just not having the same conversation. In the context of the fantasy world DC Comics sure a cape is no problem. But I'm talking about in the real world fighting close quarters while wearing a long cape is hugely impractical.

Whether it's useful or not on Earth is irrelevant to the point I'm trying to make. The Emblem is there for an in-story practical reason that makes it easier for the audience to accept it. It's more than just an adornment like the cape.

...not counting, of course, The Spawn, who's cape is literally alive...or at least animated...:sly:

:yay:

Capes look great....more trouble than their worth in "real life" dahling...Edna Mode..

Only S and B should wear them!

Everytime I make a classic trinity manip a lot of people say it should be Adam West instead of Michael Keaton, so now I made these posters inspired by the recent BvS posters with 60s' Batman (and now a lot of people will say it should be Keaton instead of West :whatever:)

It should be George Reeves instead of Christopher Reeve. :o :oldrazz:

I guess I should have specified that I was referring to the people like Phoenix Jones when typing that.
