BvS Batman's Voice Thread

I'm still not digging MegaTron's voice--- I mean Batman.. I think using it in a dark alley here and there would be fine but honestly I don't dig it. My biggest thing is that it's going to sound silly when talking to fellow League members and unnecessary.

I can't imagine that Batman will use the mech voice in private with the JL, once the JL is officially formed.

It'd be cooler honestly if it changed his voice to sound like a human voice other than his.

May as well get another actor then.

I could still see him use it with the JL and he's trying to maintain his secret identity. Probably dial it down though.

Well ideally it'd just be Ben/Bruce changing their own voice. The point is the sound of a modulated voice doesn't convey any real mystery or mystique in this day and age.

Even though I enjoyed the new clip for the most part, the voice is still not growing on me. This is really hard on me considering how much I love Affleck in the role, the suit and everything else I've seen from him so far. I only wish they toned it down a bit and I think it would sound fantastic, its just too overbearing.

I come from a music background and I've always had an issue with over-produced music or vocals with too many effects, and this is right up that alley.
Maybe seeing longer scenes with the voice rather than a few words, will change how much it is liked.

All it takes is one whiff of a dog turd to know it stinks ;) No but honestly I'm hoping it grows on me.. But I ain't diggin it.

Maybe it changes seeing it throughout the movie. We've only seen a brief line or two :o

I'm not sure I follow. A modulated voice vs someone lowering there pitch? In today's world a modulated voice is pretty mysterious sounding. Hell Bale essentially put a kibosh on the pitch change.

The modulated voice was one of the better decisions the production has made for this movie. Makes him sound demonic and also further differentiates the fact we know it's a really well known actor beneath the cowl.

Funny, it doesn't bother me. Maybe because I watch Arrow lol but I doubt many people will care about the voice. It's not like Ben is following up Kevin Conroy, anything is better than Bale's attempt imo.

Anyone else tired of hearing "Do you bleed?" LOL!

I do like his voice though....

I perfectly understand why some people find a technically tweaked voice to go against the organic aesthetic of the suit (it did seem odd to me as well for a while), though I must say that it is a dichotomy that has been there for a long time with the character, since Batman, while appearing like a monster from gothic fiction has for decades used advanced or even cutting-edge technology of various kinds for his crimefighting. I know that I'm not saying anything we don't already know, but I do find that kinda interesting.

A modulated voice, which doesn't even sound mechanical, does not negate the more organic apparoach to the character. In fact it only amplifies it.

Especially considering the modulated voice sounds demonic or beast like ... which is the image Bruce is attempting to project to frighten citizens, or cime in Gotham. Something inhuman. Bale did his best to do this naturally. The voice emodulator does it effortlessly, and without any unintenional humor in the process.

It sounds scary, or intimidating like something the character from Saw or a horror film killer would use. It's excellent choice from Snyder. Plus, it further separates his identity or persona from Bruce, or the audience's case, Ben Affleck.

Well it's true if the modulated voice is subtler and almost doesn't appear modulated at all. This one sounds a bit more mechanical in some instances than the others, though I agree that it's not nearly as "robotic" as some people claim it to be.

I like it better than Bale's smoker's voice. The voice changer was definitely the way to go.

I can't explain it but, I wasn't so bothered like usually by the voice in the clip Zack showed on Conan. Could be that it was somewhat in isolation?

It sounded most robotic in the original teaser. Seeing the same scene months later, in context, they've calmed it down in all scenes to not sound like Robocop and more like a demon from a horror movie with overlays of voice, deepened:

"That SOB brought the war to us"
"I thought she was with you"
"Do you bleed? You will"

Perhaps it's the lack of those drums and deep sounds from Zimmer's and Junkie's score in the background this time. I think it added to voice sounding more metallic in the original teaser and to some extent in Trailer #2. And it could be they also toned it down a bit.

Or you just got used to it, I'm pretty sure it's what happened to me. All I know is that it was a bit jarring when I first heard it and now it's not anymore.

Agreed. Again, not sure if they calmed it down or it's just the lack of those tones from score underneath, but it does sound better.

^ Jarring is what I consider to be a GOOD thing, unless it's unintentionally campy.

Good jarring: Do You BLEED? YOU WILL!

Bad jarring: WHERESHDATRIGGURR!!

:funny: Fair point.

I was dying of laughter when I first saw that scene. "YOU'D NEVERR GIVE IT TO AN ORRDINARY SCHITIZHEN" spoken with those puckered lips, while he was turning Bane around, killed me. I think it's the worst the voice sounded in the trilogy.

Honest to god the worst Batman moment I've ever seen in my entire life. I physically cringed.

I may just have to replay this scene every time I lament on the batvoice they've gone with for this film.

It's only encouraging that I'm warming up to it. It could have been worse. I just want the mechanical nature of the voice to be reduced. At least he sounds intelligible and when he's angry, I don't imagine it'll be as bad as when Baleman got angry and the voice became ridiculous.
