Batsuit.

The latest Superman trailer made up my mind.

Blue and gray, with the oval, capsule belt and trunks.

I'll bet they go with this look. Nothing ulitarian as we already have seen this a dozen times and REEVES has taken it to extremes with Police issue pouches and SWAT gear and hockey pads...lol... This will be more fantastical with a little grounding, just hoping they get someone big and broad shouldered to play him, not some european white trash frail actor.

Ugh.

I just want it to be designed by someone who has a very different stye to whoever did Corenswet's suit. Not because I don't like it--it's grown on me an INSANE amount-- but because I don't want it to look like Superman and Batman go to the same tailor.

The DCEU suits look like they were designed by the same person (because they were, obviously) even though one's meant to be an alien undersuit found on an ancient ship from a superadvanced civiliztion... and the other is a billionaire's high-tech body armour with the theatrical trappings of something that traumatised him as a kid.

I still think that something like this (using Batfleck's suit as a template) would be just perfect alongside Corenswet's Supes

Given James' comicbooky approach to Superman, I wouldn't be surprised if we got a couple shots of the cape that looked something like this.

Cut out the slurs or else you will be looking at a permanent ban. We don't tolerate that sort of toxic, offensive language here.

I don't have any particular expectations for this new Batman, but I'd like to see a move away from the armor-type look...
I've never particularly liked it (and sometimes hated it), in any medium, but above all : I don't need to be systematically given "rational" explanations as to the possible protections of the suite or the functioning of the cape of a pulpy character like Batman.

Anyway, I found an old manipulation that I had done, probably before Reeves revealed his take.
Seems relevant to the thread, so here it is (apologies if I've already posted it):

Seems like the ideal to me, especially with the oval of course !
It looks streamlined, classic, but detailed enough to feel like something relatively practical and not just a cosplay. And it's mostly made of materials that don't interfere with the actor's flexibility.

Also, I don't need a buffalo in the role either. When I see Mazzucheli's Batman, or Steve Rude's, or Michael Keaton's, there's never a moment when I doubt his strength... because it's fiction.
It's up to the director to make us believe it.

Here’s a crack at a very different direction from previous adaptations. I think the initial reaction will be negative, but hear me out. While it could be refined, I think the concept could be a jumping-off point for a new direction for the costume.

The basic idea is to adapt something similar to Neil Adam’s suit, but with rationale behind every choice:

1. The underwear is a reinforced harness that attaches to the grappling gun.
2. The bodysuit is like a worker’s jumpsuit — practical, comfortable, cleanable, made for work, somewhat loose.
3. A major problem with adapting Adam’s suit is that it looks too plain on the big screen. Most films have therefore added armor. Snyder added detailed musculature. Here, we avoid both. Instead, the idea is that Batman has to carry many pieces of equipment so that he’s always prepared. So the base layer is adorned with necessary gadgets for avoiding detection and collecting evidence (telescope, smoke grenades, flash bangs, radio, batarangs, torch, glass cutter, glass slides, etc.).
4. The suit doesn’t look scary. That’s by design. Instead, it looks humble. The idea is that Batman’s fearsomeness shouldn’t come from his appearance. A child shouldn’t fear him. Instead, Batman’s fearsomeness comes from how he moves, how capable he is, and what he can do if you’ve done something wrong.

I'd be curious to see this without all the extra accessories (just the utility belt will suffice), a lighter gray color, and the gold trim removed from the bat emblem.

Here you go, boss.

I honestly find this direction very exciting. It feels like a return to the pulp comics/Zorro roots of Batman, and I think the simplicity honestly makes him more frightening on two counts: (1) he’s got to be out of his mind, because who else would go out like this? and (2) he’s got to be insanely capable, because who else could survive like this?

Alas, I don’t expect to ever see something like this onscreen. But I think, with the right tweaks from a skilled costume designer, something like this could really work visually and thematically.

At the risk of being alone on an island here, I really vibe with that.

Normally I'd be against putting trunks on Batman, but I actually think it serves as a good differentiator from Pattinson, as does the cloth-like material versus The Batman's suit of tactical armor.

I still don't like the white eyes in live action, though. It takes away more than it gives. It robs the actor of their ability to emote without saying a word, which is one of Batman's key strengths onscreen.

Here’s an even pulpier look, where everything is fabric or leather. The cloth mask would behave more like BTAS. I love the iconography of him being able to just pull the mask back.

The larger, more neutral shaped lenses actually work really well here. Make them more mirrored/reflective instead of solid white and we might be cookin.

Some of you may recognize this art. From David Williams (BroHawk on Deviant Art), who used to post here under the name Wams.

I basically want this. It's very evocative of the B:TAS suit, and it's one of the rare instances where I think the lenses actually work really well.

They should get different suit designers. Let each one design their own heroes suit.

Darken the blue

I would like them to use the Kingdom Come logo (like they did for Superman), but shrink it down and put a yellow oval around it. I would like to see what that looks like.
