I have to appreciate the swerve that It's a Wonderful Life and maybe Die Hard are out when those are the two movies people were declaring would be the winner. It's Game of Thrones up in here.

Just wondering, what to you guys makes a really good Christmas movie....

I go with my wife's thesis, born of cramming a dozen Christmas movies in a week of cultural catch-up ( she didn't watch many movies as a kid ): togetherness. Christmas is about the ties between friends and family, and these ties serving as a source of strength, making people better as they are drawn closer together. A really good Christmas movie embodies this concept, with people learning to value and be improved by these ties.
