not only popular but less childlike and borderline idiotic

if you just try to "read" what the DBZ poster writes, you'll have better luck understanding a letter writen by an 9 year old

I think it's the other way around. You DBZ posters are crying sour grapes because Superman is more popular. Face it, the man has been around for more than 60 years. He's an Icon. I don't care where you want to hold a poll (as long as it's not skewed and trully random) you will see that more people will vote for Superman over Son Goku. Popularity is a big intangeable and will be the deciding factor in a match such as this.

well, actually, while Superman is a more recognizalble figure world wide, in terms of revenue I think DBZ tops him because of the massive difference in the popularity of comics and manga between here and Japan. American comics are just a drop in a bucket compared to Japenese Manga.

If this site had more Japanese posters, DBZ would easily be winning

Some of what you say is true. Japaneese manga (in general) sell more copies worldwide than western comic titles. In some cases there are titles that sell in the millions (in Japan) versus hundreds of thousans (for the best titles) in the US. This is inpart because the Japaneese cluture is more visual than western cultures and takes a preference to media that is more grapical (as opposed to textual) in nature, but that does not indicate that Son Goku and the Dragonball Universe is/was more popular than Superman.

The Dragonball stories ran from 1984-1995 as a part of Weekly Shonen Jump Manga. Most of the Dragonball stuff you can buy that is manga related are reprints of that original run. I find it hard to believe that in such a short time (22 years) a chacater or series could have sold more books and merchandising than a 60-year-old character like Superman (or for that matter even Spiderman). As a sanity check I Googled the name Dragonball and got 15.2 million hits. I then Googled Superman and got 53.2 million hits. I know that that is kind of crude, but it is an indication that Superman has of far more intrest than Dragonball or Goku (at least among the internet population) so your statement is kind of misleading.

Anime Gokou could probobly destroy the universe. -based on that Burori can destroy a galaxy.
Manga Gokou could destroy a star-system.

While pre-crisis Supes can just move planets...

Yes, but still, DB is the most sold comic. with over 125million x42 sold books.

And pray tell, where did you get those facts from?

I also sincerely doubt that DB has outsold Superman completely.

Destroying things is easy. Normal human beings can destroy countries and (in theory the world) and they have no real super powers. That is not saying much if you want to use that as a measure of power. I have yet to see a Sayajin move (or for that matter hurl) a planet or create a star (or kiss a woman and make her forget she knew him). Superman is doing this now (forget about pre-crisis).

Naturally...
Swedish Shonen Jump, magazine.
It stod under the title,
MOST SOLD COMIC EVER WORLDWIDE.

But the character from anime and manga are completely different.
Raditsu faster than the speed of light.
Burori capable to destroy a galaxy.
Chou Boo-han can destroy reality by torn up dimention's.

There even SSJ2 Gokou would kick Superman Prime's ass.

But in the manga, not even supa Bejito would be able to harm him.

Shonen Jump is a weekly magazine that features a number of comics (not only Dragonball). The magazine sells about 3 million copies a week in Japan, but the Dragonball run stopped printing original stories 11 years ago. Anything you buy now is in reprint. Superman is still selling original stories and I am quite sure that he has sold more books (as well as merchandising) than Dragonball. For crying out loud, he had a 50 year head start.

Here is a list of some other feats that superman has accomplished. I seriously don't think that Sayajins are that powerful.

THAT list didn't seem that impressive
(but i have seen ones that are).
based on that list of feats goku
should be able to beat him
at the cell games

Exactly. DB isn't going to be outselling a comic that's been around since 1938

125M total sets.
That's 5,25G comics.

3thousands times the earth that power aint even enough to destroy the sun, not to mention the solarsystem or even galaxies.

Blocked a blast which could destroy a island... Jackie Chun could destroy the moon which's 1 third of earth size... Island, lol

It's a better comic than Superman, since 42 volumes sold more than thousands of Superman.

However Superman will be more sold since they still making the series

I don't see why not

The avergae comic nowadya is considered a hit if it sells 100,000 copies a MONTH. In its hey day Shonen jump sold over 8 MILLION copies a WEEK.

Even factoring in the head start I say its possible especially considering the decline in popularity of comics at the tail end of the golden age and Spider-man and Marvel thoroughly ass kicking Superman and DC during the silver age

Definately head to head Shonen Jump trounces superman to this very day

No destroying a planet is NOT easy:rolleyes:

Every nuke on earth blowing up at the same time wouldn't destroy earth so stop talking rubbish.

LOL you think the utterly ******ed amnesia kiss is a good show of power? bwhahahaaaaaaaaaaaa

Whats really funny is Goku stopped having stories 10 years ago whilst supes is still going to this very day. Thus his feats get more extensive and his power gets raised all the time. Head to head (ie when they were both published) Goku would have picked his ass with Superman. In fact if Torayama finished DB partly because he found it difficult to do anything more with Goku because he'd have to keep making him more and more powerful. Those were the rules he made for him (a SSJ has potentially unlimited power). He painted himself into a corner with the character.

Superman aint that bad, serriosly I think he's cooler than Gokou,
exept that he runs around in a PJ with his underpants showing.
And maybe the fact that he is afraid to show his identity.

And Chou Son-Gohan was more powerful than SSJ3 Son-Gokou in the manga.

At the time, but that means nothing. Gohan was at his peak.

Goku was not.

What are you drinking man?

In WWII there were approx. 4 working atomic weapons. The first two were tests. The remaining uranium based and one plutonium weapon were used on Japan. There were ZERO nuclear weapons until 1953-54.

To "blow up earth" requires approximately 240,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 joules (240 septillion J) of energy to overcome the gravitational binding energy of earth.

The bomb on Hiroshima had about 63 trillion J of energy. To blow up the earth, you would need 3.8 billion of those bombs...So you are basically saying that in WWII there 400 times that so there were 152 billion atomic weapons in WWII??? You're crazy. There has never been enough nuclear material on earth to destroy the planet.

WELL, ONE OF MY TEACHERS TOLD ME THAT.
AT OUR PEAK WE COULD DESROY THE EARTH 400 TIMES. -DUNNO IF IT WAS WWII THOUGH-
TODAY JUST 25.

BESIDE NOT EVERY NUKE IS AS POWERFUL AS ANY ELSE.
THERE ARE BOMBS THAT CAN DESROY COUNTRIES AND THOSE WHO JUST CAN BLOW UP CITIES.

Just a suggestion, but after a certain age, you can stop typing in all capitals. The largest nuclear bomb was 50 megatons detonated by Russia in the 1961 and that's hardly enough to destroy anything except a very very very small island. Nuclear weapons are no where near as powerful as you think. The danger is from radiation and fall-out, not initial blast.

Your teacher was probably referring to the cold war, but you should learn to do your own research instead of listening to teachers which I doubt are privy to military intelligence on nuclear arsenals.
