Trust me....get yourself some clay and start playing around with it. You'll quickly learn how to manipulate it and, bit by bit you'll start to develope your own personal techniqes..... and sure enough be well on your way to making things like this...That's how I started.

I hope that didnt sound too much like Yoda preaching to Luke.....:) :p

The mouth is too small now.

Just kidding, it looks perfect.

I love it David! GOOD STUFF, DUDE!

Here's another progress pic of the cowl.

Understanding how the lines work on this cowl is not easy. Getting to look real is even harder....in other words if I make it symmetrical, both sides of the cowl even and exact...it just doesnt look right. So...working on that aspect now even though the differences are minimal...they're practically 2 different halves of the same design.....weird but cool I guess...:)

During the day I have a job...so I work on this in my spare time.....does it really matter how long I take??
Others have resculpted their suits all over again......where their original sculpts were done fairly quickly.
What does that tell you?....it tells me to just do it right the first time no matter how long it takes.

I'm not looking to win a speed sculpting contest...I'm am however looking to do it right first and foremost.

Believe me, this is doing it right. That really looks to be a perfect sculpt. Good stuff, David.

david take it easy !! there are still people making 89 suits so... take your time it will be awesome !

Nice. Just wondering, do you make weapons and gadget replicas to go along with your suit(s)?

David, simply amazing, You have a real niche for doing this kind of thing. To make something like this out of clay, Wow! So you just found a face mold and fitted the clay too it to make the cowl? How will you put the latex on there, what holds it?

Thanks all for the kind words. :) After a day like today...it's nice to finally get home and read the kind feedback.

Unfortunately once I've molded it and cast it up I cant in any way sell copies...none what so ever....trust me I wish I could but it's just not possible.

This project started off in early 2004....grew and evolved into somethig that was MUCH bigger....I ended up opting to just play it safe and not make any copies at all....unfortunately it'll be only for myself..:(

The cowl is just about done. The part I'm most proud of is the back....and of course the only part I havent posted any pics of yet...;)

Weapons??...just might make those too....the double barrelled spear gun is almost a sure thing but first I want to finish the suit.

Do you make Generic batcowls David, or is anything bat-related off limits? I know you work with some batman fan films

Put it this way....generic to me means things like chest and leg pieces. No logo's or insignia's.

This is a Robin Forever Chest sculpt I'm also working on and if I dont put the 4 gold tabb's on it or the R logo on the chest....in my opinion this could be a generic chest piece...customized as you want in whatever color.

Just started it so it's real rough at this stage...Pleeeeaaaase be easy on me folks..... :D

Same with leg pieces....that to me is generic and something I'll work with others on.
......as long as there are no identifying marks on them.
As for cowls....I wont push my luck there..I dont want to upset anyone in high places.......... :batman:
