Have you ever seen "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" (2011)? Is your only exposure to the franchise the Charlton Heston film from the 60s/70s? If you answered no to the first question and yes to the second one I highly recommend you give the "rebooted" film series a try, it's played much more straight.
I was never really into the Planet of the Apes franchise either, but these new films have made a fan out of me. Rise of the Planet of the Apes is a strong film, and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is (for my money) one of the best sci-if films in recent memory. I'd definitely suggest checking both out.
Matt Reeves has been a fan-favorite to direct a superhero film for a while. Watch Dawn and you'll see why.
I liked Let Me In but I prefer the Swedish film.
10 Cloverfield Lane is on my Netflix queue. Hopefully I'll enjoy it more than I did with Abrams's film.

I'm more hopeful today than I was yesterday. Purely speculation on my part, but I think the horrid reception to these films has tainted Ben's interest in participating within this universe.I would actually put off a second JL film for at least 5 years, no Gotham Sirens or Black Adam movie, just the core JL members. Let them develop first and foremost, then do another JL film. Stability is the key right now. That is of course if Affleck is still around. I'm still not 100% convinced he will be at this stage.
Umm Reeve's directed Cloverfield. Not 10 Cloverfield Lane.
And JJ Abrams didn't direct either...
Let us know what you think.Only Charlton Heston film, and I did try to read the book at one point. Okay, you guys convinced me, I'll look it up.
It's just that I am very picky when it comes to SF and it is not the type of science fiction I am usually into. I always saw it as one of those silly sci-fi stories '50s and '60s are well-known for. But it won't kill me to watch these films and it seems to be a must if I want to get familiar with Reeves.

Now I need someone else to direct Superman.
It matters when it's a completely different genre.Ayer gets hate but this is the guy who directed End of Watch and Fury. And the guy wrote Training Day. That gives him more than a pass from me. The guy is a talented filmmaker, it doesnt matter if you like SS or not.

I adore what Martin Campbell did for the spy action-pic (both times he re-invented it), but I don't need to see him take another shot at a comic book movie ever again after Green Lantern.
Certain directors are practically different creators when you move them into a new tier of budgets or genre. The gritty, character-based Ayer that I expected and loved to tackle a comic book property, is not who showed up to direct Suicide Squad. If WB happens to have another directorial fall-out with one more person...I'm actually hoping it's Ayer. Couldn't care less about his apology to be honest. He's had one more shot than the hundreds out there who would die for that spot.

Agreed and would honestly be ok if he parted.Certain directors are practically different creators when you move them into a new tier of budgets or genre. I like Fury a lot. I think Ayer directed the Suicide characters as a team really well. I blame the script for the plot and not giving some characters enough moments. The movie was rushed so I wouldn't blame Ayer too much. He made creative choices that made the movie successful and the casting was great. Most characters were done really well.
Glad Ayer is getting another chance with Gotham City Sirens. I hope he gets a better screenplay to direct. I think Ayer will improve more than Snyder with all the chances he got.
Emerald City trending. Tarsem Singh.
it's too lateAnyway sorry for diverting. Back to Batman and Reeves.

Dont be naive. This is a shared universe. Do you think they're going to give full creative control to anyone? Especially somebody isn't st the level of Affleck post-Argo or Nolan post-TDK? Hell no. Even those guys would have to work around some things here and there if they were a part of the DCEU.WB allowed Nolan almost full control of Batman Begins (with a few mandates), and look at the films he had under his belt at that time.
Reeves has Cloverfield, Let Me In, a very successful Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and an impressive-looking War for the Planet of the Apes. I don't see a doormat director here. His stock is only continuing to rise.
Can't allow yourself even a little bit of excitement, huh?![]()

I'm looking forward to this a lot more than a Affleck film. But I'm not excited. I'm a fan of Cloverfield, but I only saw it once in theaters. Same thing with Let Me In, which was well directed but not that original. Dawn was OK for me but I can't criticize his directing most of the time. I have to see the new one to get a better picture. No matter what, he elevates the script. But if the script is god awful, it may turn out to be an average movie at best. I can't get excited for that.
I'll wait and see.
