Ben Affleck To Team With DC’s Geoff Johns On Standalone ‘Batman’ Film - Part 3

I'm talking action. That's where she uses it. What's more likely. Patty watched Zack old flicks and got inspired or she doesn't know how to shoot action?

I enjoyed the opening prologue, comic book come to life :woot:

My point originally was that i saw slow motion action in the WW trailer, which reminded me of Snyder. And that worried me. It doesn't matter if Zack cooled down on the slow-mo in his last two films, it was still there in BvS, and if it wasn't, that's irrelevant to my point.

I was thinking If Affleck does step away from the Batman project they could always do a prequel. I later read BOF and Jett suggesting as such although he suggested a trilogy of prequel Batman stories and that's literally because he's against Batman teaming with super powered folks rather than because he thinks it's a good idea.

The WW slow mo looks fine, so fine that when it was first released most hypesters were like - "ya, F Snyder, this is so much better"

There's just no way to win for Zack.

Wrote this BEFORE Jett's article :woot:

Just in case Ben leaves next year, Here's my free statement for WB to use next year -

"WB is proud to present The Batman from critically acclaimed WAR of Apes director Matt Reeves, who has come up with a fresh and exciting vision for the character. Years BEFORE the emergence of Superman, Batman battled the Clown of Prince, with Robin's life at stake, Jake Gyllenhaal will play the Caped Crusader the younger version of Bruce Wayne in his prime, with Ben Affleck producing to help this amazing story come to life in summer of 2019" and push for the narrative of how great Matt and Jake are, and how Matt push Ben aside or Ben might come back later (obviously not but when Jake is great everyone'd be Like F you BA). Please Jake make this happen =P

and then have Jake playing a late 20/early 30 y/o Batman in the prequels, and he can age up just a little bit for other Batman related spin-offs/cameos.
Then hire Eva Green or someone around 30-35 y/o so she plays a touch older Selina in the current timeline, and play a late 20/early 30 y/o Selina in the prequels.

P.S now we have Reeves and if WB does not F up, I'm not worries about what Affleck wants to do, if he leaves, we get a fresh trilogy, if he stays for one more, then it really depends on whether Reeves want him or not, whether Reeves actually wants to do a Bat solo in the current timeline, then hire a new actor to only play 2 prequels later. So I'm quite excited actually, not sad like 2 weeks ago

and you know what's cool about doing a prequel?

A Joker without tattoos and less mental.

Would you still use Jeremy Irons as Alfred?

As for Jake G as Batman that's the one CBM role I think he'd nail. When people fan cast him as other parts like Hal Jordan etc I can never see it. But that I can, after all he was second to Bale for Begins.

Jake Gyllenhaal could totally nail it acting wise but I just wish he was taller. Now that we've had Ben as an over 6' Batman, going back to under 6 feet seems kind of weird. I know they could compensate for it with apple boxes and boots on set, but even then Jake has a smaller frame in general.

Jake wouldn't work as the younger Affleck. I'd prefer a reboot with him in the role. Mid 30s , in his prime Batman. Malcolm McDowell as Alfred. Denzel as Lucius. Cranston as Gordon. Casey Affleck as the Riddler.

I enjoy Gyllenhall as an actor, but there's no way in hell I want to see him as Batman. His eyes are too close together and he'd look stupid with a mask on. Remember Kilmer? No thank you.

I don't think Jake G would have to play it like a younger Affleck even if it was technically in the same world. I think of it like James Bond. It would just be a new actor taking the mantle.

I thought Kilmer looked fine as Batman for the record.

Haha ok then. I wish SSH had a better mobile interface. It's so limited. But I refuse to switch to fill website mode and deal with those ridiculous pop-ups.

Younger Affleck?
...why not Casey?...

A good excuse as any to have his eyes covered the entire time like Spidey and Deadpool just w/o animating them.

Voice is too high, he mumbles too much and he's just wrong for the part overall. But he's a fantastic actor, much better than his brother, and he would be incredible as Edward Nygma in a reboot. Too bad his brother is Batman, cuz now they can't use him for anything other than a brother role. I think Jake Gyllenhaal would have been a great Riddler or Joker in this universe. He'd be a good Riddler in general, again, not in the Nolanverse because his sister played Rachel Dawes so it would have been strange. Casey would have worked in the Nolanverse (as Nygma) now that I think of it. He even has a past with Nolan.

Jake could either look terrifying with a cowl over his face, or absolutely adorable hahah. It's so hard to tell. A cute puppy or a friggin psycho. His eyes are insane.

Unlike the Afflecks, unless you told me I wouldn't have guessed the Gyllenhaals were related.
Jake G's a flexible performer at this point to where it's too trite of a pick.
He's been fancasted for anything and everything.

Are we already kicking Ben out?

I agree it's a possibility that he bails at some point soon, but not enough to already discuss his replacement!

I was discussing solo being a possible prequel or having some lengthy flashback scenes.

Or if you want to pretend Affleck is leaving and play fancasting, at least fancast less terrible choice than Gyllenhaal.

They've already made the decision to introduce us to this Batman at this point in his life. It's time to move forward, this is the choice they made. Going with a full on prequel just creates more problems. Plus if they are gonna show a younger Batman at any point in the film, they'll just age Ben down or do that freaky CGI thing.

For sure not full on prequel.
Just enough to touch base with that Robin suit Alfred forgot to clean.
