Maybe they're like IGN, but obscure :oldrazz:

Anyway the article is about The Batman production.

'The Batman' Delayed as the Script is Rewritten From Scratch http://bit.ly/2msSzRk

Or in other words...

Matt Reeves: "This script is dog****."

So much for the 'great' writing team of Affleck, Johns & Terrio. Mind you, I'm happy if Reeves keeps them away from the script, given how badly it probably needs a change of direction from what Snyder's been doing. The soft reboot is becoming more and more likely, and that's officially a good thing

Because that's who WB would give this statement to - /film, not Variety, EW or HR.

Fine by me. All of this drama surrounding the current script has caused me nothing but worry. Clean slate please.

It's actually not a problem for the production of the film in the slightest. It's quite clear that it's not likely to go before the camera any time this year due to MR's commitments with War Apes, so a complete rewrite is fine. In fact, we should all be pleased that Reeves is taking this much control if the report is true.

I thought they were happy with the script? Oh well. Reeves clearly wants to do his own thing.

Sounds like good news imo and clearly they weren't happy with the script. Still think Deathstroke will be the main villain, heck I think he might be even more prominent. I think if Reeves uses him we get an anti-Batman interpretation. With Johns and Affleck I thought it was going to be a terminator style character.

Yep. This could still be true, but aint gonna trust /film. Seems like something cooked up in search of clicks after he read the Kroll tweets.

It's easy to believe the worst when it comes to this franchise.

For me, this potentially the best news we've had about this movie in ages. I trust Reeves far more with producing a great Batman movie than anyone who has fingerprints on Batman V Superman. If he has been granted full control over The Batman, he could potentially do for Batman what Mangold has just done for Wolverine... and I believe Reeves is just as talented as Mangold, if not more so.

Yeah. I would hardly constitute this as bad news at this point in time. If they don't start shooting until spring 2018, that gives them nearly a year to lock a new script down. Plenty of time.

I'm all for Matt Reeves having complete control over the script.

Did WB announce they were happy with the script before or after Reeves came on board?

If Reeves has full control, I’m curious where he most draws his inspirations from. At 50 years old, he’s a senior to even Nolan. But a great benefit is…he’s American.

And that’s relevant because a little pocket universe that is the Timmverse was fully thriving when he was in his early teens. If he’s a huge fan as he says, there’s no way he hasn’t seen this show. Especially when it was at its peak in his formative years.

Could a BTAS-inspired adaptation come sooner than expected?

He's fifty? Holy ****. I pegged him at late thirties.

In any case, I'm very excited to hear him talk a little bit about the film during the Apes press tour. Not to say I want him harassed with Batman questions, mind you, but it's bound to come up. At the very least, hopefully he'll give us an idea as to what his Batman will be like. If he brings up the animated series, I'm pitching a full tent.

:hehe:

The trick to a BTAS-inspired adaptation is to make sure the story is really easy to follow with as little dialogue as possible. The kind of stuff that works in dystopia stories.

I wasn't talking about Reeves, I was talking about the report that the script supposedly needs a total rewrite from scratch.

Speak for yourself.

I am

WB was happy enough with the scripts for BvS and SS to produce them the way that they did. What does it matter?

I am all for them taking their sweet-ass time with this film.

Me too. It doesn't guarantee it'll be great but at least it can avoid being like BvS & SS if there's more time/thought put into it.

And because it was THE BATMAN, every film website on Earth ran with it.
