And because it was THE BATMAN, every film website on Earth ran with it.
I think rewrite is probably for the best. Why? Look, when the stuff was getting written before, it was when Ben Affleck was going to be writer, director and star. Now, if Reeves is at the helm, he will have time to assert his own influences on the story, which is probably a good thing.
I'm concerned with all Affleck has going on if he should really come back? I guess the performance of Justice League will matter.
But to be perfectly honest, I think it was a mistake to go with Affleck in the first place and pick a much older mid-40s Batman. Affleck is now facing all this derision and criticism when he got to a very comfortable place in his career where he didn't have to face the expectations of wearing a superhero costume. It was something he had tried before, and it didn't work out well for him and it got to a point where he said he'd never do one of these movies again.

And they also made sure to put a semi-colon on the headline to pair up "Affleck in rehab" and "Filming won't start until after the summer". Those two things aren't really related at all.Ya and some people insist there are no bias on building negative narrative against DC (for clicks or whatever reasons)?
Fans who care about this stuff already guessed 2017 filming is not likely, and 2018 start date is reasonable, some podcast guys have said it as well, and then this was confirmed by Justin Kroll today, then this article put out the headline "Batman production delayed..."
That is fantastic news if true. Hope Reeves puts his stamp on it....hopefully by being the main writer.Peter Sciretta‏ @slashfilm
'The Batman' Delayed as the Script is Rewritten From Scratch http://bit.ly/2msSzRk
Agreed. It's actually not a problem for the production of the film in the slightest. It's quite clear that it's not likely to go before the camera any time this year due to MR's commitments with War Apes, so a complete rewrite is fine. In fact, we should all be pleased that Reeves is taking this much control if the report is true.
this has been happening with the Video game news out lets since the comic movies became a thing one of the first people on it was victor Lucas of EPN.tv or just known as the electric play ground and jugdment day state side when it was just small thing on G4 that has been around since the time of both ign and gamespot with first the first E3.I'm sitting here trying to figure out why a gaming website would post an article about Ben Affleck.
If anything, WB should have taken a page out of Marvel's book and signed these actors to six-film contracts. Granted, that would have all but guaranteed that Affleck wouldn't have signed on in the first place, but then we wouldn't have so much drama over a major player in the DCEU potentially calling it quits after two films.
Why do people think this is getting a rewrite?

Ben Affleck sure has been giving The Batman a hard time, dropping out of the directors seat to focus on his role as the Caped Crusader after weeks of reassuring fans that hed helm the film back in January and worrying fans that his alcohol rehabilitation would get in the way of playing DCs Batman.
Yesterday, Affleck took to social media to inform fans that hes just finished rehab treatment for alcohol addiction and though many applaud the Hollywood actor and director for his courage to open up about and share his struggles, other fans seem to correlate this issue with the sudden directorial role drop out while others worry that the treatment might affect his work on The Batman.

I have completed treatment for alcohol addiction; something I've dealt with in the past and will continue to confront. I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be. I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step. I'm lucky to have the love of my family and friends, including my co-parent, Jen, who has supported me and cared for our kids as I've done the work I set out to do. This was the first of many steps being taken towards a positive recovery.
Speaking in an interview with Entertainment Weeklytoday, a source reveals that Afflecks alcohol rehab didnt affect the Hollywood celebritys involvement in the film, implying that it had nothing to do with his decision to give up his role as The Batmans director.
The source also assures that Affleck is still working with Geoff Johns, DCs chief creative officer, on the script for The Batmans sequel.
Still, though the reasons behind Afflecks decision to give up the reins on The Batman may remain a mystery, its great to hear that the celebrity is taking time to see to his personal health. A healthy Affleck means he wont just do a better job at being DCs Batman, hell be able to attend to his children and wife more too.
Affleck will return to the big screen in Justice League which premieres November 17, 2017.

No I would not. Still, the whole issue could've been avoided if they signed someone who was actively willing to star in quite a few films, ala Marvel.Would you honestly want someone around who's heart isn't in it?
He says he is working on the script, but I find it odd he doesnt explicitly say he will star as Bat man. The timing of the delay seems weird too. If the studio is going to recast, then they probably want to wait as long as possible to prevent the news from hurting JL's box office.

My understanding is that he is only contractually obligated for one more film, which means if he stars in The Batman, then he doesn't have to appear in JL2. With the exception of a brief cameo in SS (and maybe WW), he essentially has a three film contract. For an expanding DCEU where they will (presumably) want to make more JL and Batman films, that seems pretty insufficient. And now here we are.How do you know they didnt? Last heard Affleck was still in this movie JL and JL2.
What people assume /= what Affleck actually feels.
