Well, you had to add "IMO" to both my posts, Transformers sucking and FF2 ruling :) .
I really hated Transformers... I can't recall feeling that bad on a theather... It was extremely childish (Power Rangers childish), long, it had disconected nonsense all over the place, bad acting (except for Shia), and as said, not the best robot design... FF2, I loved it, it felt like watching a Silver Age comic on the screen, without looking ridiculous...

But, again, just my opinion, and taste

I like them both. I just like TF more.

Transformers had the best battle sequence of this year. For about 15-20 minutes there was nothing but non-stop action. What more could you have asked for?

^^
-A plot?
-Interesting developed characters?
-Emotional resonance to what is happening on the screen?

Take your pick.

I have to say, Optimus vs. Megatron because I've been a TF fan since I was young and to see it developed on screen was just amazing. This is how I'd rank them.

The final battle downtown - Transformers
Village shootout - Hot Fuzz
Tangier rooftop chase/fight - Bourne Ultimatum
Peter vs Harry
Dumbledore vs Voldemort
The Maelstrom battle
Car chase - Deathproof

F-35 vs McClane in the semi truck - Did Not See

We're talking about action scenes here. Not the whole movie. :yay:

Let me guess. You're one of those arrogant, pretentious, highbrow movie geeks who don't seem to realise that some movies are just pure entertainment, right? :oldrazz: :woot:

<takes a sip from his brandy after removing pipe from his mouth> I beg your pardon!

Seriously, though, nah I am not. I understand movies are meant for entertainment. But if a movie fails to make me give a damn about what is going on and is just eye candy and formulaic plot threads used to connect the action, then I tune out and couldn't care less what is happening on screen. Pure entertainment spectacles that make me give a damn are the best kinds. Example: Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Back to the Future, the first Pirates movie, the Bourne movies, the last three Harry Potter movies, the Spider-Man trilogy as a whole, Batman Begins, Burton's Batmans, Jurassic Park, Jaws, ET, Minority Report, Stardust, Die Hard, etc.

Someo f my favorite movies this year are Hot Fuzz, Black Snake Moan, Superbad and Knocked Up. If that makes me a pretentious high brow movie geek, then so be it.

But when a movie is hallow, silly, and full of nothing but emptiness to be filled with profit and merchandise sales, I find it very boring to watch as it is all spectacle. The difference betweenTransformers and Jurassic Park is Jurassic Park was amazing, suspensful and made you care about what was happening with genuine and earnest belief that audiences should take the story seriously but also have a lot of fun. Transformers is no different than The Day After Tomorrow or Independence Day. But hey, it had pretty colors, so who am I to argue?

I'm just saying The Bourne Ultimatum and Order of the PHeonix looked just as cool as Transformers this year, but they were both a lot more fun because I could root for the characters and not be obligated to like all Michael Bay movies.

It's funny. Out of that list the only ones I like are BB, Die Hard, Bat 89, JP and Back to the Future, but I love TF, The Day After Tomorrow, Independence Day, etc. I did care about the characters in those movies, but we're all different. The Spider-Man movies actually made me not like Spidey anymore. I used to love him as a kid.

I loved Hot Fuzz too. Haven't seen Knocked Up or Superbad. Are they better than 40-Year-Old Virgin because that bored the crap outta me.

I was only joking when I called you that. Hopefully you see that, but I think you know the kinds of people I'm talking about.
