I got the suggesting from @Batmannerism so I started this thread.
Name the worst, list the best, share your favorites.

Best:
Pa Kent - Superman
Doctor Octopus - Spider-Man 2 (he didn't die a monster :csad:)
Yinsen - Iron Man
Two-Face - The Dark Knight
Groot - Guardians of the Galaxy
Logan - Logan

Worst:
Cyclops - X-Men: The Last Stand (the worst cbm death of all time)
Pa Kent - Man of Steel (no wait, maybe this one is the worst)
Magneto's family - X-Men: Apocalypse (three words: Women in Refrigerators)
Killmonger - Black Panther (I'm sorry but the distractingly bad special effects completely ruined what could've been a great scene)

Best
Rachel in TDK (Didn't even care fully for the character, but the abrupt violence of her death and the feeling of dread and despair it unleashed... was real)
Harvey Dent in TDK
Bruce's parents in Batman Begins
Doc Ock in Spider-Man 2
Logan in Logan
Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman
Youndu in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Spider-Man in Infinity War
Harry Osborn in Spider-Man 3

Worst
Pa Kent in Man of Steel
Zod in Man of Steel
Superman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
Odin in Thor: Ragnarok
Bucky in Captain America: The First Avenger
Cyclops in X3
Emma Frost in DOFP

The worst for me is simple, Jonathan Kent in Man of Steel.

The entire scene just messes everything up. Characters actions are really bad and inconsistent, the physics of the scene make no sense at all, and to boot the sacrifice made is just pissed on later when the main character risks exposure for something really petty. It's not the worst acted death scene, but that's pretty much all the positive I can say about it.

For the best I have to say Logan.

It's a very emotional scene and Logan develops a bit as a character even at the very end, so it's a very effective death scene. That it's the end of the long run that Jackman had with the character also plays into the finality of it.

Best:
Pa Kent - Superman
Groot - Guardians of the Galaxy
Logan - Logan
Deadpool - Deadpool 2
Thomas and Martha Wayne - Batman Begins
The snap deaths in Infinity War

Professor X, X-Men Last Stand

Best:

Warrior's Three, Thor Raganarok
Venom, Spider-Man 3
Professor X, X-Men Last Stand

Nice catches on the highlighted two.

Mad props to @Spider-Aziz for running with the idea.

Have to say that Yondu is a strong contender for best, as is Groot from GOTG vol 1, to go out saving people you care about is a very noble way to exit.

I thought the death of Howard and Maria Stark was well done, and RDJ sold the reaction beautifully.

Professor X in Logan is just so damn tragic.....can't watch it again. Unlike many I actually Xavier's death from Last Stand, one of the few redeeming moments in that film.

Harvey Dent has a good death in TDK, with lots of build up.

As for worst.....well Pa Kent's death in Man of Steel damages the whole movie, so while not as hammy as Talia's death it's completely conceptually awful.

Forgot about Enchantress death scene that was terrible.

That's true, but IMO as it's in an almost completely terrible film it doesn't really stand out. Man, I hope James Gunn gets free reign on SS 2 and treats the first movie as though it never happened.

True there were parts of it I liked mostly Robbie, Smith and Courtney but agree it never really found its feet.

Worst deaths:
  1. Jonathan Kent - Man of Steel
  2. Superman - Batman V Superman (after being part of an awful plot, it's hard to even watch it on its own)
  3. Doc Ock - Spider-Man 2 (tentacles I wanted to destroy by killing myself while they're on, I became a smiling murdered cause you whispered in my mind once, and now after a few weeks of rushed development into a monster, I will do this rushed development as someone with remorse over being the murderous buffoon that I was all this time and say "I will not die a monster" just cause that slacker told me I'm nice) @The Joker :oldrazz:. I'm serious about this one, but you can easily agree with the following point.
  4. Norman Osborn - The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (there is a deleted scene or something about the guy who died off-screen due some unexplained sickness that shows us he's alive and in stasis)
  5. Malekith and Kurse - The Dark World (BOOOOOOOORRIIIIIIIIING)
  6. Two-Face - Batman Forever (after Batman told Rich to not seek revenge for the length of a movie, he does something that lets his deranged friend die)
There are more, but I can't think of them right now.

Best Deaths:
  1. Mike Sullivan - Road to Perdition (I said comic books, did not exclude to superhero movies)
  2. Obidiah Stane - Iron Man
  3. Joker - BATMAN (there is something special about attaching his foot to a gargoyle to stop him from escaping, and the old statue not being able to handle the pull to stay attached to the building, but it pulls him down)
  4. Gamorah - Infinity War (I do not need to speak further of this. It is the death that made a Titan cry)
  5. Ulysses Klaw - Black Panther (it's more about what his death led to than how he died)
Like the list above, there are more than I can think of right now.

Doc Ock, didn't die a monster, he didn't!

I need to watch Interstellar again.

What did you think of Gamora's death? Does it deserve to be listed as one of the best?

I thought it was effective, but I am little hesitant to list it as one of the best because I think it will be undone in the next movie (I could be proven wrong, of course) and it is a case of putting a woman in the refrigerator. But it was well played and is Zoe Saldana's best acting in the MCU. She's heartbreaking in it.

(And yes, Interstellar really holds up IMO.)

Funny how 3 of mine are from the group of characters most well know for fart/**** jokes.

Best
Yondu
Gamora
Steve Trevor
Groot
Spider-man

Worst
Cyclops
Warriors 3

But we know Spider-Man and all the snap targets will be resurrected, yet his name is listed in this thread by multiple people as one of the best. :oldrazz:

(That should be good)

I wouldn't say that Ms. Saldana's character was fridged. Though her unfortunate demise did directly cause Peter's f*** up, her death had a purpose - to reveal the soul stone - beyond just getting him steamed.

Gamora behaved heroically - she tried to solo the big purply guy, rescued her tortured sister (bad move, but understandable given Nebula's revelation in GOTG 2) and tried multiple times to end her own life rather than give up the stone. And we got to know more about her origin and her relationship to Thanos. A better example of fridging in recent comic book films would be the ladies in Magneto's life, who's sole purpose in Apocalypse was to bring out yet another heel turn.

In no particular order, just some particular ones that stand out off the top of my head.

Best

Yondu - Guardians of the Galaxy Part 2
The Snap - Avengers Infinity War
Harry Osborn - Spider-Man 3
Wolverine - Logan
Thomas Wayne - Batman Begins
Jor-El/Krypton - Superman: The Movie
Sebastian Shaw - X-Men: First Class
Magneto - X-Men: Days of Future Past
Jean Grey - X2: X-Men United
Elektra - Daredevil
Steve Trevor - Wonder Woman
Max Schreck - Batman Returns

Worst

Jonathan Kent - Man of Steel
Superman - Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
Fandral and Volstagg (But not Hogun) - Thor: Ragnarok
Heimdall - Avengers Infinity War
Cyclops - X-Men: The Last Stand
Emma Frost, Banshee, Riptide, Angel, and Azazel - X-Men: Days of Future Past
Havok - X-Men: Apocalypse
Norman Osborn - The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Ben Parker - The Amazing Spider-Man
Toad - X-Men

You just reminded me of this one, adding this to my worst deaths as it really irked me as all it did was serve as like a key to get Killmonger in the front door of Wakanda he deserved better than that. I honestly reckon they could have gotten so much more out of Klaw, we only got a glimpse of his sonic weapon. Plus its so very rare we get to see Any Serkis out of a mo cap suit and I thought he was incredible in every scene. Also I didn't know why you kill him if you are going to kill of Killmonger in the end of the movie as well that's two of Black Panther's biggest enemies out after one movie.

Best

Wolverine - Logan
Thomas Wayne - Batman Begins
Jor-El/Krypton - Superman: The Movie
On first glimpse I read that as Thomas Jane, so you reminded me of another fascinating death:

Every calculated kill Frank Castle performed or led to it happening - The Punisher (That 2004 is full of awesome fatalities, the Saint family deaths -sans the guy early in the movie- were pretty creative and horrifying)
