I dont think DAcrowe was insinuating anyone is fickle for picking Ragnorak, me neither for that matter.

When you have been in these boards a while, you notice trends, and it IS a trend on here that the newest hilghly rated CBM tends to get more votes as it’s fresher in the mind and people haven’t noticed it’s many flaws yet. I loved Ragnorak and have no problem with it winning. However, CBMs with a heavy dose of humour, for me, tend to lose their ouster after a few re-watches. So IMO, something like Logan will have more staying power. But I could be wrong. It would be interesting to re-start this poll in a years time for that reason.

I think that’s all DACrowe was saying.

I haven't seen the "this is the best one this far" talk on any remotely broad scale for these movies so I certainly understand that people take it as "people are too dumb to realize that they just like it because it's new".

The only phase 3 movie I'd say had a relevant amount of such talk was Civil War. Ragnarok has had a good amount of being in the top tier and Homecoming had a bunch of talk about getting Spider-Man the most right, but that's about it as far as this general forum goes in my readings.

I also think that great action, humor and energy tends to be rewatched more in general than slower films with more negative emotions. I think Logan is great but among people in general I think it's likely to be the least rewatched superhero movie of this year. JL is much worse but as far as this forum goes the majority of people talk mainly DC.

You and Crowe may not have meant to insinuate anything, but I think it's important to consider how the message comes across. A lot of folks don't mean to say a lot of things, but that still doesn't change the way those things are received. With that being said, you have to understand that when you assert that the poll results are due to some trend, the implication is that of devaluing the opinions of whoever voted for the newer movie. Especially when it comes from people who voted for a different film or disagree with the results in some other way ("it's a trend!"), you can't really be surprised that people would find such statements contrived.

There's a lot of other factors that I don't think you guys are considering as well, but I mentioned those in other posts so I won't beat that dead horse. If I'm being brutally honest, I think this is just one big (and rather fruitless) exercise in confirmation bias. I have to ask though, if Logan was released 2 weeks ago and was winning the poll, would you, Crowe, and whoever else be speculating about how the results play out in the future? Would there be the same doubt or skepticism? We'll never know of course, but my point is that maybe the primary reason you're skeptical of the results is simply because you disagree?

Again, I'm not necessarily pointing the finger here, as I'm still waiting for GotG to fall out of favor as I expected it to years ago, yet it still hasn't happened. Logan is another example. I hated it but I quickly came to terms with the fact that most others loved the hell out of it, and that isn't likely to change. Maybe Ragnarok struck a similar chord with a lot of people. I know I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did, but here we are.

I think we should all just be happy that so many genre movies had such a big impact on people. Every time I think that these movies have hit a high point, the bar gets raised yet again. It really is pretty astonishing. Whether or not the results of a 70+ person poll change is small potatoes IMO.

Well it was getting called the best MCU movie ever just after it released, I remember specifically as it was what got me so excited to see it. Then it was a let down for me. Doesn’t compare to the first 2 Raimi movies IMO.

I don't have much love(or even like for that matter) for any of the Raimi franchise. So glad they're in the rear-view mirror and fading fast. Ditto the ASM series.

And now having seen Justice League...would still have to go with Logan. While I like each of the various other options, they all still, at their core, feel like comic book films, and that's perfectly fine. But Logan feels more than just a great comic book film- it's more that Mangold made a great FILM.

I might have to wait until next year to vote here. Try and rewatch almost all the movies again.

That's probably a good idea for everyone. I never eat my ranch dip just after making it either. It's gotta mellow in the fridge overnight before it becomes really good. But I'll be surprised if SM:H doesn't stay at the top come next year when I revisit all of them. That was a special one to me just like IM1, Superman:TM or BB.

Yes. Five excellent movies, six if you count legos, and JL. Also it was year that had all the big names on screen, if even in supporting parts: Batman, Spider-Man, Superman, Iron Man, Wonder Woman, and Wolverine. Probably will not see that again for a long time if ever.

Oh, that is an excellent observation.

Regarding your 2nd paragraph, around the time Logan came out people wanted to do TDK vs Logan threads. While I love Logan, I was actually one of the people discouraging it as I felt Logan would win a sequel it was new. I thought that was unfair on TDK at the time. But I think do that poll in a year and TDK wins.

So you see, it’s not bias, it’s fairness, at least in my eyes :oldrazz:. Logan will be a year old soon, Ragnorak is barely a month old. I am not sure which one will have the more staying, but would be interested to find out in a years time. And BTW, I loved GOTG still Marvels best movie for me. I loved the comics also beforehand so it’s not just a bandwagon thing.

As if you didn’t hate me enough :cwink:

Just saw Lego Batman. Best Batman movie this decade.

Visualiza was spot on in his assessment. You can try to mask it as just innocently stating a trend, but the snobbery of DAcrowe when it comes to the MCU is hiding in plain sight. You might want to ask yourself why you're always "called a hater" or whatnot in nearly every thread. It might just be the things you say, and not those silly MCU fanboys.

What makes it worse is how egregiously you turn right around when it comes to something you personally enjoy. In another thread you lamented that people who speak negatively of WW only do so because they're bothered by the girl power...

But there is very much a "it's only popular because of girl power and 'current events'" mentality out there. And you can hear the sneer with their euphemisms. Others still don't bother with the coded terms.

I hope you can see the double standards and hypocrisy you display rather than get defensive and blame it on the fanboys you seem to have such a low opinion of. Clearly this is a recurring thing.

Logan
Wonder Woman
Thor Ragnarok
GOTG Vol 2
Spider Man Homecoming
Justice League

I loved the first five CBM's on my list this year, while Justice League was entertaining, but messy!

Haven't seen Lego Batman yet!

2017 might well be the best year ever of CBMs in terms of overall output.

I think you're being pretty unfair to DaCrowe. The guy always supports his opinions with thoughtful points and has on many occasions praised MCU movies like Spiderman Homecoming this year. Just because he's not in love with every MCU movie doesn't mean he has some hidden agenda or double standard. In fact I don't know what's hidden with the guy because he straight up says his thoughts.

I don't always agree with him but I think he's done a lot more to prove he's being objective than being smug.

Saw JL, final rankings:

1) Logan
2) Thor Ragnorak
3) Wonder Woman
3) Guardians Of The Galaxy vol. 2
5) Spider-Man Homecoming
6) Justice League

No intention of ever watching Lego Batman

Voted Ragnarok, but GOTG Vol. 2 and Homecoming are so close. GOTG 2 in particular is virtually a tie with Ragnarok. There's so much I love in both of these movies. Amazing characters, hilarious scenes, unexpectedly deep themes. Logan also was fantastic and WW was really good (was meh on the ending, though, not just the final battle, but the reasoning it tried to convey). JL was "ok, I guess". Have wet to see Lego Batman, but from what heard and the bits I've seen, it's a good, funny movie that doesn't go the extra mile.

I've said it before, but here it is: best year for superhero movies yet.

Honestly i don't even get why some posters are being snarky over ppl having different favorites in the MCU. There are 17 damn movies in this universe with varying characters, tones and subject matter.

I really really love Civil War, my roomates favorite is the first Thor because he's a Shakespeare geek, My sister loves the guardians movies etc. Is it really that surprising that different people pick different MCU films as the best ones? Its not like its the exact same 3 people saying "this is the greatest thing omgz" after every new marvel movie comes out.

It's almost like a favorite sports team, there are so many options and reasons why. It's silly to argue over someone's favorite
