Best Movie All Time Poll

I have to think more about it but I'm pretty sure the Godfather will reach the first step for me too .....

my favorite action movie of all time is; THE MATRIX

my avorite non sci-fi movie is: shawshank

my favorite fantassy is: LOTR trilogy

special mentions for
raiders
T1/T2
aliens
empire strikes back
spiderman 2

:lmao:

The Dark Knight? Seriously? People consider this a contender for "best all time movie?"

:lmao:

I laugh at it too. People still have their fanboy blinders on. It was a great movie. One of the best of '08. But 20 years from now, there is no way it will be remembered like The Godfather is today and fanboys will be calling the newest Batman remake of the time the greatest movie ever.

In case no one knew the best all time movie tournament has started. Hope its what ya hoped for

20 years from now I don't think ANYBODY know what will be concidered a classic to be honest...and anyone who says they do is BSing. There are a lot of older films that are better than some of the films concidered 'classics'...a movie not only has to be good but it has to be lucky "right place, right time" sort of thing in my opinion. I mean I'm sure if some of those "classics" came out today a lot of people wouldn't think they are as amazing as they are concidered now.

Personally I think The Dark Knight is one of the best films of the decade, definitely top 15 for me. And its Nolan's 2nd best (only after Memento...but the two are close imo). But I do admit it is slightly overrated but I personally don't mind since I loved the film.

20 years from now.................I'll be 50.

^I thought that was you in your avatar for a second :hehe:
I will be 38...wow ...I'll probably have kids by then and show some small signs of balding.

dammit people--everyone's younger than me! :hehe:

While I wouldn't select TDK as the best movie ever, I do disagree with people laughing at it.

I think choosing a "best film ever" is a very tough thing to do as films can be great, but, at the same time, unenjoyable (I mean, who really "enjoys" Schindler's List? It's a powerful, powerful film, but it's supposed to be very sad and unsettling).

They can be great, but quite unmemorable (I mean, half of the movies that win best people, everyone forgets about within a year...but they're still very good films).

What TDK, I'm sure, does for some, is it provides an extremely enjoyable movie watching experience, while enforcing that enjoyability, with quality film making that (as most will admit) is one of the better films of the year.

I think that combination of being both a good (or great) film, and being highly enjoyable may very well propel it to the top for some people, I don't judge them at all for that.

As great as The Godfather is, I've seen it once, and really doubt I'll see it more than two or three more times in my life, whereas movies like TDK, or a Star Wars movie, etc., I'll watch again, and again. And it can be argued, that that's an important feature for a movie to have; enjoyability, "rewatchability", and memorability.

I also disagree that people think TDK's great just because it's the newest Batman movie. That's ridiculous. Will that make people overrate the film when compared to other Batman films? Sure, but unless that Batman remake 20 years from now is genuinely better than TDK, I highly doubt it will be viewed as such.

And TDK is a very memorable, enjoyable film. I haven't seen a single movie that's made almost a billion dollars worldwide ever be forgotten. Whether it be Gone With the Wind, Star Wars, or TDK. It's a memorable film. It's a very good film. Is it the best film ever? No, but that's my opinion. And I respect the opinions of the people who feel different.

Well, duh--I said it, so you gotta know it's silly. Wait, no.. I do say some good things.. Don't I? :O

^No, I've never seen you say anything that approaches "good."

Anyways...

The Lord Of The Rings. All three films as one movie. I don't care if it's obvious.

I've made it clear that in the past that I don't rate The Dark Knight highly but it's far from the worse film nominated on this list. No superhero movie should be considered, they're all too basic, nobody has had any real ambition with them yet.

As for my own nominations, probably one of these...

The Godfather
The Empire Strikes Back
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Schindler's List
12 Angry Men
The Lord of the Rings: The Fllowship of the Ring
To Kill a Mockingbird
Memento
North by Northwest
Fight Club
Saving Private Ryan
The Bridge on the River Kwai
The Maltese Falcon
There Will Be Blood
No Country for Old Men

In no particular order:

Aliens
Apocalypse Now
The Shawshank Redemption
Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
The Dark Knight
Terminator 2: Judgement Day
The Matrix
Saving Private Ryan
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
Pulp Fiction
American History X
