Best of Each Bond?

Yep, I came across that bit o trivia too that Goldeneye was intended for Dalton, but he dropped out because they took too long getting around to making another movie.

I think it's because they wanted Bond for the long haul and Dalton was only prepared to do the one after the long break. And they didn't want that. So Dalton graciously bowed out. I would've preferred him in Goldeneye to Brosnan.

Since CGI and de-aging is more prominent now, they could go back and replace Brosnan with Dalton for a special edition of Goldeneye.

Probably best decision as he'd have been 48 during filming for Goldeneye. It's probably controversial, but LtK is one of the best Bond films IMO. Gritty and dark Bond FTW

It's all pretty straight forward to me. Lazenby isn't even worth putting on the list because he only did one film.

Connery: Goldfinger - I could make the argument for From Russia With Love also
Moore: The Spy Who Loved Me - I genuinely believe this is the only film Moore did that I could have seen Connery doing
Dalton: The Living Daylights - Pretty easy this one, Licence To Kill just didn't feel like a Bond movie.
Brosnan: GoldenEye - Every other Brosnan film never lived up to this one.
Craig: Skyfall - Yep, I think Skyfall was the TDK of the Craig era. Casino Royal is great, but Skyfall is a step above.

I believe Goldeneye was originally written for Dalton.

Well, kinda-sorta. It wasn't exactly Goldeneye (rumored title was "The Property Of A Lady"), but an earlier version that was reworked and eventually became Goldeneye. Sounds like the scripts weren't remotely similar, the earlier writers had Chinese military villains, robotic tech stuff, and Scotland, Hong Kong, Japan and Mainland China as settings. Seems it was playing into the at-the-time upcoming handover of Hong Kong back to China too, that was featuring in a lot of movies at the time.

The 007 Film That Never Was: Dalton's Third Bond

They actually even put up a poster for the original version at Cannes in the early 90s too, before all the rights issues caused Dalton to bail. No title attached though.

Sean Connery - From Russia With Love
Roger Moore - Moonraker
Timothy Dalton - Licence To Kill
Pierce Brosnan - Goldeneye
Daniel Craig - Casino Royale

Moonraker is the quintessential Bond film. Prior to the 90's, I gotta figure it's the most popular after Goldfinger.

Did anyone enjoy Quantum of Solace? It feels so underwhelming when I first watched it. Def weak compared to Casino Royale and Skyfall. Overall though; it's pretty average for a Bond film.

I kinda hope the next film has a setting in Africa for some portion of the film. Just to see something new. Or a scene stressing Bond's former military service. Wasn't he a Royal Marine in the novels? I'd have liked to see him set in Afghanistan with British troops or undercover in Pakistan. For an opening scene of course.

Love QoS, will never understand people's 'problems' with it.

Watch the next Bond film rip off Black Panther. :o

This thread has made some interesting reading, especially regarding Dalton who I didn't care for as Bond, and some of the picks for Moore's best.

Connery: Goldfinger. Nuff Said

Moore: This one is hard for me. I really liked the Moore films (save for Octopussy which was dull as drying paint and You Only Live Twice which was forgettable) and for me its a toss up between The Spy Who Love Me, The Man with the Golden Gun and View to A Kill. Spy had the iconic Carly Simon song, Jaws, Agent XXX the underwater car but Stromberg never really did it for me, whereas Golden Gun had Christopher Lee as Scaramunga, the Kung Fu vibe and locals, Knick Knack and the Fun House but Midnight was a dull Bond Girl, but View had Christopher Walken as Zorin, Grace Jones as Mayday, the Bay Area, the Golden Gate fight and Duran Duran's theme. I can't choose!

Dalton: I have to abstain from this one because I haven't seen ether of theses in 15 years....

Brosnan: I know Goldeneye is the popular choice and I live it a lot...but I have to give it too Tomorrow Never Dies. I loved the opening and Jonathon Pryce as Elliot Carver was a great bad guy.

Craig; Skyfall. Nuff Said.

I think the Moore era is the hardest to select from because they are all much of a muchness. He is the Bond I was 'introduced too' first, in that his were the Bonds being released in my early childhood, and was taken to see them as such but he just didn't stand out for me, I know he's gone on record as wanting to play it as different as possible to Connery, but there is playing it differently and playing the character as completely different to the written character as chalk and cheese, the problem for me was he played Bond the same as Templar, in the Saint, two very different characters but RM decided to simply repeat the same characteristics for Bond. I just don't rate his era at all. There are some 'good moments' but there isn't for me, one film, you can say, in all honesty, the complete film is a solid 'Bond' film.

That's why For Your Eyes Only is my favorite of the Moore era, Moore's Bond was notably darker in that film compared to the rest of his run.

It's hard to really judge You Only Live Twice as a proper Moore film when it starred Sean Connery. :o

Also, Britt Ekland was Goodnight, not Midnight.

Moonraker is underrated. It is let down partly by Jaws and some parts that are too much broad comedy, but there are also some really good parts to it. Drax is an excellent villain and him and Bond have some of the best exchanges in the film series.

The cable car fight is good too. And the ending when they have to chase down those missiles or bombs that are heading to earth is fairly tense. It's a film I would've liked to have seen in the theatres. It also has a great John Barry score. I like the disco version of Moonraker at the end too.

*commits seppuku for my dishonor*

Shame on me...I was thinking "For your eyes only" and typed you only live twice lol

SHAME

I'm real curious where the next Bond flick will be set. I'm really hoping for new places and a new Bond girl. Maybe a Dutch or Eastern European? Heck, what about an African or Arab for a Bond girl.

Goldfinger
L&LD/TMwtGG/Octopussy
TLD and L2K are roughly equal for me
Goldeneye
Casino Royale
Don't know how I forgot The Spy who Loved Me. Don't know how but Roger Moore, despite not being my favourite Bond (probably the wimpiest of the lot), managed to be in a big chunk of my favourite Bond films.

I hope Felix is back for Craig's final film, Wright is brilliant with the character and the chemistry between them both is very strong.
Same here. I wish they'd have squeezed something for him in either Skyfal or Spectre. Wright's busy with Westworld, but I hope they can get him in it.

All it needs is one or two short scenes to round out their relationship/friendship. Hope so.
