Better Class Of Toyline (Official: Movie Masters Thread)

I think a MM Green Lantern and then B3 line after that is enough. There's more than enough action figures out there for you to collect if you're fiending that bad

not all of us have throw away loot like that so I'm glad there's no over abundance. Those 2 lines are MORE THAN ENOUGH
Well i wouldnt call it an obsession Mr. Boney, i would say im just a big fan of the Four Horseman's work and i appreciate what Mattel has brought to the table so far.

I see your point that there are plenty of toys out there to collect but when half of them are crap, i just choose to be a little picky which i have every right to.

If im gonna shell out my hard earned money on collectibles then they better be worth it.

There also doesnt have to be an over abundance of figures. If you remember clearly, movie masters wave 1 was comprised of only 4 figures and Wave 2 was only 3 figures. I wouldnt call that an over abundance IMO.

Oh yeah Hey Mikey that 5 pack is a steller idea.

12 figures (and 2 chases) over 2 years time is hardly a lot...

Thats what im saying dude. Glad you agree with me. Oh yeah and the Bat-pod too. Forgot about that one for a sec.

All i was saying before was something to keep us Dark Knight Movie Masters fans a little happy till next summer which last time i checked is an entire year away, just a few little things to throw us a bone. Basically your idea for the Five Pack would be freaking great.

Not asking for much ya know. Just a a couple of items that they can kit bash together is all.

I think were all a little sad right now that the MM's have come to an end. But with the announcement that Mattel will indeed make a Lantern MM line is the light at the end of the tunnel.

Now they did say there will be a standard line and deluxe figures which will probably be as bland as the 5inch standard dark knight figure line. Then they will probably dish out 6 or 8 Lantern MM's. And thats in two waves im sure. Guess only time will tell.

who do you guys think we'll get in the GL MM line?

haha, well assuming they dont screw up, then it hink we'll get Hal as a GL, Sinestro, maybe Kilowag, Abin Sur and other asorted GLs of importance

based upon past releases,i would guess:

Series 1:

Hal Jordan GL
Hector Hammond
Guardian
CHASE: Hal Jordan GL with maskless head

Series 2:

Hal Jordan Test Pilot
Sinestro
Abin Sur
CHASE : Hal Jordan in translucent green plastic

instead of a vehicle,perhaps a Target-Exclusive Kilowog....

I'm going to cut off Gordon's (HUSH) legs and glue his upper body&head to a Thug (movie masters) legs. I've painted that Hush Gordon's hair/mustache brown but how do I get or make glasses for him, since I have lost the originals?

first of all you dont want to glue but reesemble and modify the parts together to retain waist articulation.

and for the glass, some wire shaped appropriately should do the job

For the bolded, do you mean swap out the knees to feet section?

Because he's fairly normal body size to the MM, but since Jim Lee draws giant people his legs are just super long...

theres waist articulation on both figures right? pegs if im not mistaken, youd have to look it up on the net for exacts on splicing two figures, that way you keep waist movement

None for the Gordon HUSH figure, probably because he's from DCDirect or whatever it's called.

ok, wel, with enough modifcation you probably could keep that articulation from the goon, or if you even jsut used Gordon's head and stuff on the goon body

Figurerealm.com
is an awesome site for this kind of stuff, check it out and if you join the forums ask about the stuff you'll get help, im sure of it

i'm going to TRU again today, will pick up any Two-Face's i find for the board....

it's funny...i wish i could buy some new stuff! i was more excited by the 7 TDK figures i got this year than any other movie toys i bought this year....considering it's for a 2 year old movie! not saying it would've been Star Wars like ( if it was,we would've got a figure of the female Bank Teller that pushes the silent alarm),but i have a real jonesing to buy new batman movie stuff, and simply can't....and that sucks! i want more stuff!

Gordon
Alred
Lucius Fox
Bruce Wayne in tuxedo
Rachel Dawes
the other 4 Bank Robber clowns
R'as Al Ghul (Watabe)
Ducard/Ra's (Neeson)
League of Shadows assassin
Jonathan Crane
Police Officer Joker
Nurse Joker
SWAT Officer Gordon
Nomex Survival Suit Bruce
Bruce as League Assassin
Ducard as League Assassin

goddammit Mattel....

i know,i'm sorry....i'm just ranting again....:whatever:

lol totally agree with ya Mikey. I find myself driving to toys r us sometimes for obviously no apparent reason now since we have all of the new Movie Masters.

And yes it was definitely exciting going out on the hunt for these figures once again. I think i'll be heading out this weekend to the big toy store. Gotta get me the new 1:50 scale Batman Hot Wheels. At least those are slowly and i do mean slowly coming out lol. It's something to look forward to i suppose.

been thinking about this...hoping Mattel learned their lesson...they royally f-ed up TDK line...just completely f**ked it up....so i'm hoping they're better prepared for Batman 3...but in cas they aren't ,i heard a rumor a while ago that someone who is close to people from Mattel frequents these boards....on that note,if true,i'm presenting to them what i,as a fan and collector, want to see happen with the licence ... some of these figures are based on what i think will happen with B3,not on any actual released info...

TDK Movie Masters - January 2012

reintroduce the line into stores with a last TDK lineup...this way you give us some more figures, and have peg space allotted before the B3 line hits,so hopefully a more seamless distribution than last time,as all they have to do is refill the pegs...

Hong Kong Batman- with backpack and sticky gun
Police Officer Joker
Goon #3
CHASE: Hong Kong Batman with unmasked head

there's also be a mail promo , send in 3 UPC's from ANY MM figures (both past and future) ,plus $5.95 shipping, and get a free "Casual" Riddler figure (no hat and jacketless)...this could help build hype and anticipation for the movie by releasing a "promo" figure ahead of time, like hey used to do with SW...and make it unique enough that people will want it...plus,you have an instant scalper item, guaranteeing interest in the line again...

Batman 3 Movie Masters,Series 1 - May 2012

Batman - TDK/B3 suit (same design as before, but with a cloth cape and new sculpt)
Catwoman
Commissioner Gordon
CHASE: Batman - Battle damaged

Batman Movie Masters ,Series 2 - July 2012

Batman - new suit (to rpelace the destroyed old one / you know they'll give him a new suit!)
Riddler - full costume
Alfred
CHASE: Batman - hologram...clear blue plastic (they'll probably introduce hologram technology in the films eventually)...

then, i would retire this line, and create a NEW one - Batman Legends...figures from all 3 films, encompassing new figures, and some older ones, ala the Star Wars Saga Legends figures...

Batman Legends Movie Masters,Series 1 - November 2012

Batman Begins - new sculpt, cloth cape
Nurse Joker
Two-Face
CHASE: Batman Begins - fire variant( paint some flames on him)

Batman Legends Movie Masters,Series 2 - March 2013

Sonar Batman
SWAT Jim Gordon
Neeson Ra's (end battle)
CHASE: SWAT Gordon - masked head (also doubles as generic SWAT officer)

Batman Legends Movie Masters,Series 3 - July 2013

Bruce Wayne (suit and tie)
The Joker (shrunk down 12" mold)
Scarecrow ( TDK Brown Suit and Shirt)
CHASE: Bruce Wayne ( easy repaint to a tuxedo version)

Batman Legends Movie Masters, Series 4 - November 2013

TDK Batman
Riddler
Watabe Ra's Al Ghul
CHASE: reissue of Unmasked TDK Batman

Batman Legends Movie Masters, Series 5 - March 2014

LoS Assassin Bruce Wayne
Bank Robbery Joker (with unmasked head)
Catwoman
CHASE: LoS Bruce, with masked head ( also doubles as generic LoS assassin)

...etc.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

i really think a concept like this could work...getting the figures onto pegs before the initial release (which the last TDK line would do) should help alleviate some of the problems of last time, specifically stores that didn't even have room or peg-space available for them...plus it gives a few months to reintroduce these into the system, and by the time May would come around, any kinks should be worked out,and it should just be a matter of refilling the pegs with the Batman 3 figures instead...

and the Legends concept to keep the line going after the movie starts to fade...this way you still have product on the shelf, you give it a new packaging design, give people the opportunity to grab some figures they may have missed the first time ( the sure to be hot villians) as well as new figures that people have wanted, guaranteeing new sales from kids and collectors... you keep the "hot" figures in circulation while still giving the niche figures (SWAT Gordon) to collectors...and the completionists, even if they already have a Two-Face or TDK Batman, will rebuy them just because it's in a new package ( see,Star Wars)...

i really think something like this could work, and could guarantee Batman MM's on the pegs for us for years to come...

oooh, i like!!!!

and the checks in the mail Mikey! (or is it cheque?) has been since the 8th

Brilliant Mikey, Brilliant!!! Like where your head is at with this. Hopefully that rumored Mattel Rep does frequent these boards just to see how damn loyal we are lol.

Ok back to the topic. I believe that Mattel will definitely take your idea and hopefully use it. The perfect opportunity is obviously coming up next summer with The Green Lantern. What they can do is break up the Green Lantern MM's to stretch through say April of 2012. Then come May of 2012 release like you said Mikey, One last The Dark Knight Movie Master line. It should flow easily due to the Green Lantern MM's that would have just previouly have been out for some time now.

So the last line of TDK MM's could consist of 6 figures and love the idea of the mail away figure just like good ol star wars. Then come July 1st we can start seeing the first wave of the new MM's for the third batman film.

And totally agree with Batman Legends MM line. This will keep us fans coming back for years and years. Mattel should learn a little something from Hasbro and star wars. Give the fans what they want and they will keep coming. Now im not saying saturate the Movie Master line with multiple versions of one figure but give us the obscure figures like Alfred or Luscious that we want. Leave the multiple repaints or retools for the kiddie batman lines.

I just want a damned Tumbler lol
and Supes, hopefully they will do a Superman MM line

like your idea MITN....

Green Lantern next year...even if we get 3 series of that (which i think we will at most),that should hopefully take us into early 2012,and the pegspace would - hopefully - transition seamlessly into new Batman MM's in Spring 2012...

of course,we're all jumping the gun here...we're assuming we even WILL get Batman 3 MM's....i think the chances are good (especially with GL ones coming) , but still we don't know for sure we will get more...though they'd be stupid not to....

but it IS Mattel....
