Better Class Of Toyline (Official: Movie Masters Thread)

Sounds pretty inflated, but I used to work at a book shop that sold overpriced collector's editions. The owner's philosophy: they're worth what someone will pay.

That's what happens. I find if you're patient and do your research, you can find almost any figure at a decent price, whether it's a short packed chase figure or not.
When I was collecting the Justice League animated 10" figures, I was seeing on the web various figures (Wonder Woman, at 90+ bucks, Martian Manhunter at about 48 bucks, Hawkgirl about 50 bucks), but I was patient, kept checking in at KMart and Kaybee and found them all at about 11 0r 12 bucks. The only exception was the Atom, which still only cost me 15 bucks from an Amazon.com seller.
I find the key is patience, and staying away from an "instant gratification" attitude.

Oh believe me sir, I was patient. I waited all summer long for it to die down, but in my area, the Movie Masters were hardly ever around.

May I suggest Amazon.com? I've found a bunch of stuff there from different sellers, some expensive, some cheap.
I got an Alex Ross JL translucent Martian Manhunter for less than 7 bucks, some other seller on Amazon had it for 40, and a Red Son GL for under 3. They have the MM stuff, but the prices can be a bit much, again I figure if I wait a while, I should be able to get them there at a better price. AFAIK, it's not like they're OOP yet. (Are they?) BTW, I got the BB and TDK Batsies at KMart last week for about 10 bucks each.

I defy any geek on this board to be older than I am!

Anyway, and hardly for lack of looking, I have seen in Vancouver only two MM figures, in a jumble of stuff at the Bay (big department store), a BB Batman and a Scarecrow. My TDK Joker and Batman I acquired through Amazon sellers. Batman was very reasonably priced, the Joker (in May) was kind of pricey and now is priced at about a third of what I paid (though the Canadian dollar was on par with the US then). However, the sellers themselves were very professional and charged reasonable postage rates. My DCD Joker I won on eBay, from (again) a very professional seller in Ontario, and for less than the figure is going for now. I have barred myself from buying anything else, though if a set of small figures representing more of the cast of characters from TDK were to emerge the hunt would resume and I'd just have to clear away stuff in my apartment to accommodate them (I'll end up being one of those crazy ladies they interview on the local dinnertime news about their collections of memorabilia).

Been checkin the latest ToyFare and found the following:

Joker - worth $85

Scarecrow - worth $24

Unmasked Batman - worth $30

Fear Toxin Batman - worth $60

Gotham City Thug (Any Variant) - worth $18

The odds of finding some of these: Priceless

I can't believe that The Joker is actually worth more than the chase figures. But that's bound to change, as people say they're finding Jokers everywhere now.

Wow that's really hard to believe about The Joker being worth that much...especially since I have 4. 1 of which I'm getting rid of soon for a Scarecrow. I'm going to Wal-Mart later tonight, so I'll see if I can get anything rare.

Damn, Fear Toxin goes for $60!?

How are Jokers still that high? I swear now whenever I look at the TDK MM figures in-store I always see at least one Joker...

the other day i happend to be at target when they got a fresh shipment of MM"s and all they had were tdk bats, bb batz, and 1 joker smh

Well, let's see, I was reading Batman comics BEFORE the advent of Adam West and friends, Back when Dick Sprang was still Batman's artist, prior to the "New Look".
I turned 54 this past March, how about you?

My first experience of Batman was Adam West et al. I turn 50 in November.

OK, GUYS, JAWS OFF THE FLOOR NOW.

I prefer to think of it as being the same age as Gary Oldman.

And I spoke too soon; I was in Toys'r'Us today (I don't have kids but my best friend obligingly had one and asked me to be godmother/honourary crazy auntie) and saw several MMs: mostly BB and TDK Batmen, plus a few Scarecrows. Oh, and about a million of those Staff Strike type Batmen in orange suits, though also a few Fear Shot Scarecrows in that range. Not a Joker amongst either lot. And I have yet to see a Thug, or a chase Batman.

gotta remember, though,it's ToyFare,so take any prices they list with a HUGE grain of salt, since Gareb Shamus is well-known to be in the secondary toy market and is known to inflate prices on both toys and comics in his magazines to boost his profits...this is the same magazine that has NECA's "Zombie Ed" figure from Cult Classics Hall of Fame series 2 listed at about $20,which is interesting because the figure NEVER CAME OUT! nor is it likely to,since HOF series 2 came out LAST fall!

And not to mention that I posted this a ways back...but a TOY is a TOY and will only ever be worth what someone is WILLING to pay for it. And Toyfare is usually a couple months off anyway. The Days of $80 Joker sales on Ebay is over...thank God

Honestly right now I would see the Chase's and the Thugs being the most sought after and valuable. Perhaps even Scarecrow, because Joker is alot easier to find than he is, at least in my experience.

Well, I saw at least two Scarecrow MMs at my local Toys'r'Us. I'll look back in a couple of days to see if they've been snapped up.

Honestly it seems like everytime I go to Wal-Mart, they have at least one Joker. I'm going on another hunt here in a couple of days, so hopefully I'll find some goodies. *crosses fingers for thugs or chases* I was just thinking about what a mess it will be when the Two Face movie master is released. Pure and total chaos.

How do you find all these figures at your stores?! I searched every store within a fifty mile radius today, and only found one Joker and a handful of Batmans. I've never seen a Scarecrow (what I was looking for) a thug, or any chase figure.

Stupid middle of nowhere...

Where exactly do you live? I'm pretty much in the middle of nowhere and have never seen a Scarecrow in store(Got both of mine off ebay for pretty decent prices). I haven't actually seen a thug since the figures were first released in May....AND I PUT THEM BACK! all that suffering for a Joker could have been avoided if I had just grabbed him, now i'm suffering in the exact same condition for another thug. Specifically the Joker mask version. Which I saw two of when they first were released. KRAP!:cmad:

Personally, I just keep an eye on the boards and when i hear about a new wave of MM's comming out, I check my stores on a regular right as they open (for walmart right before they close) and i get first pick. Got all of wave 1 and 2 including the chases that way.

Yay one of my local TRU's has the TDK Batman so I picked it up...so exactly what's the difference between the normal release (the one I got) and the 'kicking' variant? I think I remember hearing different paint apps?

Just went to TRU and found a two pack TDK MM exclusive and bought it - looks cool!

All of a sudden, every single store around me has Jokers. Target, Walmart, even my local comic shop. I picked one up last week. I might get a second one sometime soon to open up. Haven't seen any Scarecrows though.

So I decided to open my TDK Batman today, so very disappointed. Even before removing him from the tray I noticed there's some splotches of yellow stuff (looks like glue) on his cape. Then his left bicep joint was locked so I had to twist it to start it up and now it's pretty loose. Same problem with the left wrist. I think this is going back to the store. :/ Maybe I should buy a BB one and paint it to look like the Fear Toxin one or something instead.
