Which character had the better trilogy? Take all 3 films in account.

TDK > CW > TWS > TDKR > BB > TFA

I consider TFA a good deal behind all five other films, so TDKT wins on consistency and lack of reliance on other films.

TDK and it's not even close. Batman Begins alone is a better film than any of the three CA.

It's Cap for me. If TDKR was better, my answer might be different.

Cap. I'll admit I'm biased slightly by my love fore the character, but as one of the handful of people who really enjoyed TFA, I'd have it just a bit below BB. And I VASTLY PREFER CW to TDKR, while TDK and TWS are very close. So Cap wins out for me.

Just like I said before when this poll was posted, before it got closed, no matter how good Civil War was it couldn't make up the huge advantage that TDKT developed over the first two films.

The Cap movies will be competitive right now, because fans are in a glow after the release of Civil War. But:

1. Cap is not really a trilogy when it is so heavily informed by his adventures in the intervening Avengers films (and Iron Man 3 as well in the case of Tony's new attitudes in AoU and now CW).

2. The Dark Knight Trilogy has been this yardstick for 4 years now (8 years for just TDK not still being the individual superhero film yardstick). That speaks volumes and is unlikely to change for a very good reason (they're great movies that stand above most, if not all, of the rest of the superhero genre).

3. ... and I personally prefer by a ridiculous margin Batman Begins to TFA and The Dark Knight to TWS. I also like The Dark Knight Rises better than CW (though that one is closer).

Well, the best movie out of all 6 is TDK, and the worst is TFA, by some distance, though it's certainly not a bad movie.

But this amoung other things is why TDKT wins for me.

Cap's is better in my eyes. On top of me just enjoying the movies more it embraces the comic book genre much better and excels in that (and in the action genre), while the TDK trilogy ventures a bit into the crime genre where it doesn't excel as well among the competition.

CW > TWS > BB > TDK > TFA > TDKR

It can of course depend on how CW fares on multiple viewings. Right not TDK is the one that has dropped the most for me on consecutive viewings, although I don't think enough to lose any place in the ranking.

It's a bit surprising since while I haven't been a big fan of either character in the comics Batman has still stood a bit higher on his own compared to Cap for me.

I'd probably go with The Dark Knight only because the Cap trilogy doesn't function as well as a stand-alone trilogy because you're also required to see the Avengers films (and the Iron Man trilogy in the case of Civil War) to understand everything that's going on.

Overall, the Captain America Series.

And I wish this was a public poll.

How is cap a trilogy? The avengers movies are also part of Captain America's story and his growth as a character, especially AOU. In fact, I believe Captain America has the most screen time in AOU, and certain scenes in that movie set up Civil War.

I just don't think it makes sense nor is it fair to consider it a "trilogy."

Good point. CA's trilogy isn't really a trilogy because it doesn't work without all the other MCU movies.

Forgetting any debate as to whether Cap may/may not be a legit trilogy and strictly limiting my opinion based on the quality of each one of the six films in question, TDKT wins.

Judging them solely as films and leaving out all of the ways Cap's story branches out in the MCU, both trilogies are on pretty equal ground to me. Each has two excellent films (BB and TDK, TWS and CW) and one pretty good film (TDKR and TFA).

Cap is the best MCU trilogy but TDK is the best CBM trilogy for me.

Cap.

BB and TDK are great films, but TDKR is a massive disappointment.

Whereas the Cap films get better and better, which is the ideal goal of a trilogy.

For me Batman Begins is better than The First Avenger. The Dark Knight is better than The Winter Soldier. Civil War is better than The Dark Knight Rises.

So TDK trilogy wins.

Same.

Or altenatively:

Best Film - The Dark Knight > Civil War
Second Best Film - The Dark Knight Rises > Winter Soldier
Worst Film - Batman Begins > The First Avenger

TDKT still wins.

I wouldn't swap The Dark Knight for Marvel's entire combined output, so the Batman trilogy.
