Beware the Batman

This episode didn't really pop for me in the same way the first two did.

I was really looking forward to Anarky, despite the fact that my comic based knowledge of him is slim. But what I do know makes him sound like a lot of fun and a great villian to translate to the screen. The resulting episode, however, doesn't really take him to the heights I was hoping for.

Firstly, I love his design (white knight vs. dark knight) but his voice was lacking for me. It didn't sound anywhere near as menacing as I thought it would be, so Andrea Romano may have scored a rare miss here. His recruitment of the two ''artists'' was mediorce but served the episode well enough.

I guess this could be a 13 year old in a costume, which would make the whole ''It's an honour to be my opponent'' easier to swallow. Time will tell if ANARKY becomes the truly interesting villian the show clearly wants to protray him as.

The subplot with Katana was alot of fun. Unlike most I don't mind the slow-burning nature of it all. The character is growing on me and I find myself really intrigued. What more can you ask for?

The fight coreography, the animation (Despite the usual background quibbles) and the music shined as usual. Man, was Anarky's theme awesome. I also quite enjoyed seeing more of Batman's vehicles.

A fun episode, but nothing to scream and shout about.

I didn't care much for this episode. I had never heard of Anarky before learning he'd be on the show. I assumed he'd be Batman's equal, but nope. Since CA had that article about the characters from the poster and said he was a teen in the comics, it makes me wonder if this guy is one too or an early young adult.

Why would you assume that Anarky, some one you have never heard of, a d-list villain, would be Batman's equal?

Based on how he looks and the concept of order versus chaos. Almost like what they did with Joker in TDK.

It seemed like they wanted to make him a Moriarty figure in that he's a patron of crime. That's the only real connection to Moriarty that I saw. He certainly wasn't able to match wits with Batman or defeat him in combat.

I know its probably unfair to compare everything to BTAS, but all (well, most of) the BTAS episodes had character and replay value. These episodes... they aren't bad, but I feel no desire to ever see them again. I don't know if it is the empty CGI, or the fact that most of the villains have had no backstories thus far, or what, but something about the show feels a little bland. It has great voice acting though and its at least getting the Bruce Wayne character right, I think, which is why I'm still watching and giving the show a chance even though the rest is just mediocre.

I thought the voice was spot on. Anarky came across like a *****e in this Episode. So I had no problem with the voice.

Tests is so far the weakest episode not because of the story but the set up of Anarky being the arch-nemesis of Batman sorry no but that's just not going to fly at all Sherlock Holmes has Moriarty, Superman has Lex Luthor, Batman arch-Nemesis is THE JOKER nuff said.

I get that TPTB want to showcase lesser villains to the audience but let's not dumb ourselves into a corner like "Smallville" did with the whole "No Flights, No Tights" garbage for 10 seasons I get this is a different media but still at some point be it the second or third season of this series their going to have to bring in the classic rogue gallery as well as Robin & Batgirl much like The Batman did in season 3 & 4.

Still the episode was still good, Batman is continuing to rises as a crimefighter, I also love how Bruce is playing Katana and toying with her, I love how you expected she discovered the cave but instead it's a secret room to his study hall. The action sequences were good.

I hated those two stupid goon pawns of Anarky I hope I never see them again.

Agreed 100%. Its why in Joker's early appearances he was called "The Clown Prince of Crime," a parallel of Moriarty's title "The Napoleon of Crime."

I didn't really think of Joker since Anarky doesn't act crazy/goofy/whatever. I thought he'd be pretty straight forward and be a real challenge for Batman. But, he seemed childish (if they plan to reveal him as a teen) and kinda lame. He just didn't live up to how he was hyped and how he looks.

I read a theory that [blackout]Anarky will fall into a vat of acid and become the Joker[/blackout]. Which would be interesting to see.

That has more to do with nostalgia than quality. Let's see how you feel about re-watching after a year or few.

No show starts off with a bang these days when there is higher competition, not to mention your comments like "villains with no background" is something a serialized format will tangle on, it's not like all villains we're introduced with origin stories in BTAS or something.

Which is why i hold hope that Anarky with his inexperience is a young teenager who develops a proper philosophy of Anarchism.

Either Anarky is a newb starting out, just like Batman is, or he's been catching Batman off-guard for a greater plan.
