Beware the Batman

That was a good episode. I loved the "Wayne manor is a fortress" line and it does "feel" like one. Too bad Batman was able to so easily get into it.

I'm surprised Bruce didn't do a through background check on the hired security guard.

Silver Monkey was cool but he got his monkey butt handed to him by Batman.

The doctor was so stupid and annoying. I don't know why he needed to act that way. I can see him being grateful to Katana for helping him but man did he need to be that goofy?

I like the cg in the show. The smoke and fire look great along with the subtle textures.

it was Silver Monkey in disguise. he takes off the face mask and throws it on the ground after he knocked out those 2 other security guys at the gate.

anyway, today's episode is so far the best one so far. loved the motorcycle chase scene and the fact that Wayne Manor was under attack.

loved that they introduced the League of Assassins & Lady Shiva, though we didn't see her. also like the fact that Katana already has history with them. looking forward to knowing more about this.

This was the ebst episode yet, the action was so wonderful, the music is again one of the biggest gems and yeha, Silver Monkey, Lady Shiva, Katana and her Soul Taker sword!

I take it that Bruce will not be a former member of the LoA in this series. Didn't seem like he had any prior knowledge of them.

The motorcycle chase scene was awesome.

The cherry that tops it all. Kevin Conroy in the DC short which was pretty funny. Not sure if it was a "new" short but it was new to me.

Man this series is amazing, I would love to get a live action movie based exactly on this show minus Alfred the way he is. Also wouldn't want a side kick too. I'm liking it better than BTAS.

Bruce was in the League of Assassins? It doesn't sound like his type of gig with the no killing rule he has.

X-Ray said Bruce was not in the League, i also assumed Bruce would have been in the League of Assassins, but it seems only Katana has been a member.

The speculation was just born with how Batman Begins had that, and this tv series taking clear inspirations from the Dark Knight trilogy. Not to mention the League of Assassins are supposingly the season 1 villains, we will see Ras' al Ghul in the season as well. I wonder will we see Talia, Ubu, Bane or Merlyn in this season.

Oh okay, I didn't know if that was from the comics. I hope they stay away from the Dark Knight trilogy because I didn't like them. The first movie I fell asleep in. The last movie was a waste of my time, even fast-forwarding most of the movie. The second one I liked a lot.

I really liked this episode... except for Dr. Burr.

And I liked that Bruce wasn't part of the League of Assassins in his past.

Was this the first time they showed the streets with parked cars?

I just wish they would do larger story arcs in the show. Instead of having single story episodes. Maybe do like a season long progressive story arc.

That's exactly what they're doing...

- Batman and Alfred's relationship
- Alfred's backstory
- Everything with Katana
- Anarky will have more appearances
- The ARGUS (?) club

etc...

Really lacklustre pilot but this series gets better and better and this episode was awesome. Hopefully this series continues its upward trajectory.

This episode was by far my favorite. Silver Monkey was the least cheesy villain thus far. And it was as intelligent as I am coming to expect from this show.

Probably in the top five cartoons on the air at the moment.

I LOVED Dr. Burr! He was hilarious!!! I thought it was cute that he had a crush on Katana.

It lightened up the episode a bit. I'm actually surprised how dark the overall tone of the show is!

Love that Lady Shiva is in the show even though we didn't see her.

Katana is being done the right way in her development. The sword is epic.

I'm with Lencho Dr. Burr was WAY too much. Did it lighten it up? Sure. But was it necessary? No.

My review ratings on the show so far:

Episode 1 "Hunted" - 6.5
Episode 2 "Secrets" - 8.5
Episode 3 "Tests" - 4.5
Episode 4 "Safe" - 8.5

The animation and art direction are always going to be a drag to me, but it is what it is.

The super fortress with spring loaded missiles and guard tower(I know there wasn't one) seemed a bit too much.

Even Katana thought the training room was odd for Bruce Wayne.

Pretty cool that Lady Shiva is voiced by Superman's mother, Lara from S:TAS... Finola Hughes.

"Safe" was a decent episode. I liked that it showcased some of Batman's dark sense of humor. Katana's story, as usual, was interesting. Silver Monkey was a boring villain, however, and that doctor / scientist they were protecting was simply annoying.

The emptiness and lack of detail in the locations leaves the show feeling flat visually for me.

Having said that I thought this weeks ep was the best yet, Batman vs Ninja in a bike chase, an assault on Wayne Manor (oddest looking Wayne Manor ever), backstory for Katana, League of Assassins, Silver Monkey, and Lady Shiva in the background, can't grumble with that.

I like that they have the main villains set for the season and I thought Silver Monkey was a cool, oldschool looking villain.

I wonder when Katana is going to get her costume.

Good story, tight action and fight choreography. Voice work is top, though they should lighten up on the goof factor with some characters. This ep it was Burr, 2 eps ago the slow candy bar eater Gordon questions. I am starting to notice the emptyness of Gotham, but cgi shows tend to get more detailed as they go on. Still canfused by the firearm situation though. They look fake and seem to fire discs sometimes but then this ep Alfred out right states Silver Monkey was dodging bullets. I don't get it.

All in all a show moving from strong showing to strong showing. Good entertainment for the young and the young at heart.

Yeah, the guns and the emptiness (and Alfred on some cases) are the only things that keep bothering me about the show.

This series has been great. DC is horrible when it comes to live action films but they know their animation and it's partly because their characters fit animation so well. But I got one question...how long before the Beware the Batman Wayne Manor action set comes out with an Alfred action figure (all other figures sold separately)? That would sell like Castle Greyskull sold back in the day.
