Well his family didn't know he was a rapist, so he was embarrassed of them finding out. That is at least how I took it. But I think they are going with his family not knowing he was having affairs.

I have never said he was innocent though I did question if all the allegations were true. Given the this release of information it looks like most if not all of the women claiming he raped them were telling the truth which makes it even more disappointing he is a serial rapist.

Disappointing is an understatement. I can't be angry. I already was when it came out the first time he was doing this. I'm not devastated. I never admired or idolized him enough for that.

What he has done should be the end of him. All he has accomplished has been tarnished by this. He was a great man hiding one with a terrible one lurking inside.

All these things are what I felt before but I held out that sliver of hope he wasn't such a complete bastard.

This is Bill Cosby. It's hard to think that man is so vile. One time is bad enough but upwards of 40 is just incomprehensible.

You're probably right, but considering the length of time and the breadth of geography in which he might have committed these many, many acts, it would not shock me that someone, somewhere will find something to charge him with. Even something as relatively minor like perjury or hindering a police investigation.

I was just watching CNN talking about this. There is one case of an accuser saying she was 15 when it happened. Her lawyer (Gloria Alright?) said there are possible ways to scoot around the statute of limitations on that one. So.....it could be possible he may see some jail time in the future. Another interesting thing they brought up.....civil lawsuits for slander/libel against now have a big chance to be won. Calling people liars for saying you drugged and raped women when there are now court affidavits where you admitted that can hurt your case.

Denial and the celebrity idolization culture is creepy strong with some people.

I always found it was slightly bizarre how many people think they know a entertainer simply because they see their work. These people are still essentially strangers.

I watched Bill Cosby on TV growing up but I never felt like that meant I knew what Cosby was like when the cameras stopped rolling.

No one is beyond reproach in my eyes and I think your setting yourself up for disappointment if you put entertainers on pedestals.

A bizarre and sad coda to what was otherwise a pioneering career in entertainment, civil rights and philanthropy. No excuses for the behavior. But on a side note, certain celebs like Judd Apatow have seemed to make this their personal crusade, and labeling anyone who didn't call for torches & pitchforks right out the gate as cosigners of rape culture and the like. Most reasonable people simply recognized that law enforcement's hands were tied because of the length of time passed before formal complaints were filed. Recognizing this, you could argue that those laws need to change. It's time to call your state representatives and let them know how you feel. There are tens of thousands of rape kits left to languish in various American cities. Police departments of these cities/counties claim they're broke and don't have the money to process. Mariska Hargitay's been one of the few celebs to step up with some money and public awareness campaigns, organizing volunteers.

And while I am not Apatow's biggest fan, I agree with his general point. People continuing to deny this, even as dozens of women came forward. This isn't a court of law we are talking about here. Society has condemned for much less.
