Bioshock Infinite

Unbelievable. I'm pretty hardcore devout Christian and I didn't think twice about accepting the baptism. It's the same as spitting in the face of Allah? hahano not even close. Also he was ready to blow through countless people with guns and vigors and that doesn't go against his beliefs? It's a freakin game.

Link to a Kotaku story about someone who demanded (and got) a refund from Valve for Bioshock Infinite. He couldn't get past the baptism into Colombia, because of his religious beliefs.

Whaaaat?

Man, good thing he didn't get any further, then. I'm sure he would have loved Comstock...

And seeing how the religion represented is not Christianity anyway, being baptized in the name of the founding fathers (and not that Other One), I'm not sure what his issue is.

People are hypocritical.

Yeah, I'm a Christian as well and I don't get that.

I get that he might have uncomfertable playing a character who is forced to recieve a baptism. My reaction was to find a way around it, realized i had to and thought to myself "wow, this cult is cray cray"...But that's kind of the point, isn't it? For us to "feel" the moral issues of trading/sacrificing our own sense of spirituality/individuality in order to gain access into this supposed utopia? Having our character accept it in the game is in no way us accepting it in real life.

So any news on the DLC? Got the Season Pass installed on my PS3, haven't started playing it over to use the bonus items. I just can't imagine where the story can go from here.

Same here, man. devout Christian and had NO problem with any of the game. People really need to get over themselves!

This entire series is supposed to make you feel uncomfortable, that's the point.

Yeah, and the baptism is supposed to be that way as well. Booker was almost being drowned during it, too.

That, and the relation to Booker, Comstock, and the baptism (as well as that priest) is paramount to the game's story. If you remove every baptism in the game, or allow it to be skipable, then you wind up losing some key points in even being able to comprehend the story being told.

And I get why he couldn't play through, and respect that. But, in the Kotaku story he compared it to the NO RUSSIAN level in MW2, which is the wrong comparison to make. No Russian wasn't a key thematic element of the story that was the defining factor in determining a major plot point of the game.

The role baptism plays in the story is just way too important to cut out or allow to be skipped.

Also, I'm sure they knew what they were doing. There's alot of difficult subjects that get covered in the game. Which is why it's impressive that Irrational had the guts to do what they did. This is the type of game that would never have seen the light of day if it'd been focus tested. Never would have even been allowed to be releases if that'd been the case.

Ugh, this battle after (near end of game I suppose) [blackout]you can control over Songbird. I thought the game had a fair challenge on normal until this point but then it becomes the worst sort of escort/protect mission. In this case you have to protect one stationary glowing part of the airship from attack by the wave after wave after wave after wave of the Vox Populi as well as other airships attacking it, while protecting yourself, taking out the enemies, and summoning Songbird to attack the other ships. There's nothing in the entire game like this segment before it, and it's in this segment I remind myself why I don't like playing very many TPS and FPS games when they are designed in this particular way. It was fine up until here.[/blackout]

Just put like 4 or 5 return to sent traps on the core and its an easy win

Don't really understand the problem with the last battle, beat it in one shot the first time and it only took me 2 in 1999 mode. I had no idea they went after the core so i failed once.

I got past it but I have no idea how it happened. I didn't even change my tactics with the shock traps and wait to [blackout]call Songbird.[/blackout] Next thing I know the game tells me to [blackout]go to the bow of the airship with Elizabeth.[/blackout] I thought I glitched the game or something. :hehe: That's not good. I don't play with FAQs or anything like that my first time with a game until I finish the campaign. Which I happily will be looking at now. I noticed some other people (including humorist Zero Punctuation) pointed out the last battle as well as being one of [blackout]those Tower Defense aberrations[/blackout].

Anyway, all done now. [blackout]Bye bye Elizabeth. The Annabelle we got to know never now existed in this fictional world. Hope Annabelle grows up better with her degenerate father who doesn't send her over to another universe. At least I like to think so.[/blackout]

It was a great game overall. Two of three major things I thought were possibilities came true, but I was wrong about the how they would come true. [blackout]Guessed that Booker was Comstock and that Elizabeth was Annabelle (the game hints at this early on with Elizabeth being called Annabelle in a few spots) but the whole Lady Comstock angle was throwing me off, I couldn't figure out what any "deeper" deal was there. For a moment or two I entertained the possibility that Lady Comstock was also Elizabeth.[/blackout]

I loved using the skylines to get around and attack when the opportunities presented themselves. Using the various vigor combos was fun, but I stuck to my favorites as much as possible, which didn't include Return To Sender.

Hope it sold well. Will wait to see what IG comes up with next. Doesn't necessarily need to be another FPS. :woo

I agree, I thought it was a very weak final battle. I've always hated the "waves of enemies" routine.

I agree, I actually prefer 2 to 1 just because of the more consistent story and the gameplay mechanics are better. Not that 1 is bad, far from it but I prefer 2 just slightly more than 1

I prefer 2 as well. I think the combat was much improved and really liked the protect the little sister bits, added a bit of strategy to the game. The only thing I think it fell short on was the story, but didn't mind too much.

Ive had a full game trial of this installed for a couple of months now and only now decided to play it. This game looks gorgeous. Im really digging the art style and despite the change in scenery it really feels and looks like Bioshock

Its odd seeing people in this game, and I mean just normal NPCs and not crazies like the old series. Columbia really feels alive and I dug the atmosphere that was created.

Unfortunately it felt like it took forever to get started. I only got to do a bit of gameplay before it ended. I got up to just after you first learn to ride the sky device.

Too bad they didn't fix the shooting mechanics bc aiming and shooting still suck with this game.

Same, born again Christian here but had no problem with it. The only problem I had with the game is that I didn't think it was anywhere near as good as the first.

When I started playing this I kept expecting to get attacked every time I turned a corner. I was paranoid the whole intro.

I thought the shooting was phenomenal. It all felt very good which I didn't think with the first one. I thought the shooting in that one sucked

The shooting isn't bad. I only had to adjust the aiming sensitivity a bit and it's mostly fine.

Also helps that the wrench equivalent isn't nearly as crutch-y in Infinite as it was in the first game.

I really enjoyed the combat in the game. I don't quite understand some people's criticism of it.

So I just beat the game and Holy Hell. I guessed a bit of the ending but not the whole thing. Not even close. I freaking love the Bioshock series.
