Sci-Fi Bioshock Movie

the only video game adaption that has a shot atm is Uncharted it has a good director at least

Bioshock had a good director on board too, he made 28 Weeks Later which was a good movie

28 weeks later was fantastic especially the intro. One of my favourite moments in film.

If only we could be sure Fresnadillo could get total creative freedom for a Bioshock movie. It would rock!

I'm guessing that a drama centered around the rise and fall of Rapture with Daniel Day Lewis as Andrew Ryan would be far too much to ask for? :oldrazz:

the movie is'nt happening anytime soon according to Irrational Games executive Ken Levine

Irrational Games executive Ken Levine recently spoke to Industry Gamers and had this to say on the status of the project:
“We got very close to having it get made – we had a deal in place and a director. But for us there is no burning desire to have a movie made just to get it made. For us and for Take-Two, its really got to be something that will A) Give the fans something that they want and B) For those who don’t know BIOSHOCK really introduce them to something that is consistent with the game, and is going to be a good representation of the game”

So it seems that the project isn’t dead but they are taking their time. But then Levine went on to say;
“There are differences between games and movies no doubt, but the movie has to draw from the same DNA in terms of the world and the story beats. But you know we don’t have a need to get it made", effectively indicating it’s a low priority.

Since this film is unlikelly, Bioshock Infinite seems less gory and to have as good a story, so why nt see how the game turns out and possibly adapt that one instead?

Kind of looks like that might have been ditching the art deco design of the game. That's all very bland and looks like it was constructed in the 70s or 80s.

From three pictures, and one of them being a holding area for the bodies/suits, it's hard to tell what direction they were going for. They all look dark and kind of bland though.

That's what I'm saying. Its all conncrete, steel, and rust. Pretty much the exact opposite of Art Deco. Bioshock's design is major part of what I love about the game. If they had ditched that design, I'm not gonna lie, it would have damnpened my enjoyment of the film.

I meant that with only three pictures we don't know what their concept for the rest of the scenery would've been. This is primarily about showing off the Big Daddy.

The art deco design made the game as awesome as it is, imo.

And that's why I said "Kind of looks like" instead of "Definitely looks like".:yay:

I would have liked to see this movie come out. I love the games, especially BI.

Bioshock (and Bioshock Infinite) is probably my favourite game of this generation and as such I would love to see a film based on it.. If they do adapt it though I would certainly hope that the core story (and twist) is kept in tact as well the design as that is part of it's appeal.

I could see someone like Alex Proyas or Alfonso Cuaron doing a good job.. maybe even Duncan Jones depending how Warcraft turns out. It's kinda cliché to say too but having someone like Peter Jackson or GDT involved would help ensure that some love and care goes in to the design of it all too.

I have yet to see pan's labyrinth, and i hear it's GDT's best film, but from the films i've seen of him, i wouldn't like to see his type of humor in Bioshock.

Right now, i think that adapting Bioshock Infinite would be for the best, it's as interesting but doesn't need as much gore.

I would let Peter Jackson strictly produce it, not direct it though. I think he's past his prime at this point, even though he should be in the heart of his prime.

Is The "Bioshock" Movie Back On?

A year ago it seemed the dream was over - plans for a film based on the highly acclaimed video game series "Bioshock" at Universal were dead according to Irrational Games co-founder Ken Levine. Now though, it looks like it may have new life at another studio.Kotaku reports that Sony Pictures has registered three new web domains – bioshock-movie.com, bioshock-movie.net and bio-shock.net - which suggests they're interested in reviving the property.
It certainly isn't out of the question as the company is leading the charge to bring numerous video game properties to the big screen including "Uncharted," "Watch Dogs," "The Last of Us" and "Gran Turismo".
The first two games in the series take place in the city of Rapture, an underwater utopia built for unethical scientists. The third game, "Bioshock Infinite," took place in Columbia, a cloud city utopia for religious zealots. In both cases, these cities have gone off the rails and are now highly dangerous places which you, the player, find yourself in.
"Pirates of the Caribbean" director Gore Verbinski was originally attached to helm but ultimately withdrew. Issues with the previous versions related to both budget and the film's rating which would have to be a "hard R".

A game like Bioshock should be an R-rated film.

I think Bioshock Infinite could be made into a good hard PG-13. It could get away with not having an R.

A movie set in Rapture and involving Slicers, however, would need to be R.

Infinite could squeak by with a PG-13 but it's an M-rated game and it's adaption should reflect that. I don't like the idea of watering down a source material to justify a lower rating.

I don't like it either, but you know they are going to. At least with Columbia they could get a PG-13. With a skilled director and proper care they wouldn't need to water it down too much. Unfortunately, I don't see a skilled director helming a Bioshock movie from Sony.

Dude, I don't know where his career is heading at this point. His last few movies have bombed, and the last Resident Evil movie didn't do that well. In fact, the last Resident Evil felt so dated, clinging onto the late 90's with it's Matrix style.
