Sequels Black Cat (Casting)

Using Black Cat would be the death of the current Spider-Man movie franchise.

Here's why:

  • She has no character depth. She's only eye candy for the obnoxious, horny fanboys. I can't take her seriously because of it.
  • She's a Catwoman ripoff! Need I say more?
  • She'll become Spider-Man's sidekick. Really ... Does Spidey NEED a sidekick? I don't think so!
  • With Gwen Stacy in the picture now, do the movies need yet ANOTHER love interest? People keep saying that the movies won't get rid of the romantic bull***t. Black Cat would just make it worse.

The Spidey franchise pretty much died with the 3rd movie.

Bringing in Black Cat can't kill what's already dead...

this is a casting thread between fans. this isnt really going to happen. give it up, this is just for fun

batboy99, i love scarlet..but to me she's carol danvers/ms marvel not black cat....and even if she doesnt get cast as MM, scarlet is such an amazing actress that she deserves a more prominent marvel character than BC.

nah, shes too young for carol, though id be happy if she was carol, plus an actor/actress can play more than one role, but ya, shes too young to be Carol. If they had a younger cast of heores, id say yes, but they dont.and shes not amazing(and this is coming from a friend), i mean, alfred molina was in sm2, he's a pretty big name actor. I dont see why scarlett cant be
I can say the same thing for bell too, but i wouldnt mind her as BC( i do think shed be good next to the rest of the cast, but i want Felicia to be HOT, the way she was intended to be and not pretty or cute like bell. She needs to be hotter than Dunst and howard combined), but to me she comes off as the witty typed girl(especially im VM), thats why i like her for Harley Quinn best. Plus, scarlett is a good actress, she can handle a role like felicia and has the..assets ;) (though thats not a priority)

you make some valid points batboy...after thinking about it, scarlet would be a much better BC than bell. i would almost feel bad for dunst and howard if she were cast because everyone would forget they were even in the film:yay:.

ya know, i used to be one of those people that said "one actor should not play more than one marvel character"....but the more that i think about the more i resolve that if a person is right for a role then they are just right for it, any previous heroes they have played means nothing. scarlet could, and in my SHOULD, be cast as both black cat and ms marvel.

the one point i dissagree with you one is that scarlet is "too young" for ms marvel...the cast that marvel has assembled so far is a late 30's early 40's...but i dont think that they entire avengers cast should fall into that age bracket. if all of the heroes are in that age bracket then in 5 to 10 years they are all going to need to be recast. i think aome of the avengers need to be younger so that the continuity can run longer before every character has to be recast

cool! another scarlett supporter

Just a very obvious and poor Catwoman rip off. Except this one has bad luck powers :whatever:

She's nothing more than a Catwoman replica, no thanks.

She's a Catwoman ripoff! Need I say more?

Let me quote something off of wikipedia and drop some knowledge on your pointy heads - and pay attention to the bolded points:

Marv: I didn't plan Black Cat to be in Spidey. I created her for Spider-Woman (look at the letter column of the first B.C. story and you’ll see). I then decided to leave Spider-Woman and moved her over. So, I never even thought of Catwoman when I did her. I got the idea for her from a Tex Avery cartoon, Bad Luck Blackie.

Felicia Hardy's signature costume, cat burglar profession, and her steady relationship to Spider-Man predate Selina Kyle's similar depiction in comics by almost a decade, although Selina was shown to have turned good as early as Batman #66 although returning to a life of crime later(This would be elaborated on later as the Earth-Two Catwoman was revealed to have never returned to a life of crime and in fact married Bruce Wayne/Batman). Catwoman spent most of her comic life as a purple-dressed female super villain who used big cats to commit anything but subtle crimes. Selina Kyle's modern comic book incarnation as a black suited cat burglar with romantic ties to Batman didn't occur until 1987 with Frank Miller's classic Batman:Year One.

Read it for yourselves.

Oh and Black Cat hasn't had bad luck powers for something like 2 decades [counter :whatever:].

IMO, Spidey has never had as an interesting dynamic with any other supporting female character as he has had with the Black Cat. The whole thing with her being hot for him because he's Spider-Man but not being in love with Peter himself was brilliant. If there's such a thing as comic book chemistry, they have it in spades. I fear they brought "jackpot" in Brand New Day to try the same kind of thing, but there should only be one vigilante gal in Spidey's life and it's BC.
I think it'd be a great subplot to bring into a Spidey movie, but only if he's single at the time. I have to agree that a triangle would just be tired.

As for casting, Elisha Cuthbert would be spot on perfect for the most part. She's definitely got the looks and the body type for it, but she kinda lacks in personality somehow. If I could take Kristen Bell's personality and splice it onto Cuthbert's looks, you'd have a bonafide winner.

Thanks Johnny. I gave up trying to convince some of these misinformed individuals about Black Cat YEARS ago. Glad to see there's someone else out there who actually READS the comics, instead of just looking at the pretty pictures.

Anyway; my choice for BC;

I'm glad somebody pointed this out. Good job man.

She could, definetly, but id prefer her as Selina instead.
For Felicia, i like scrlett johansson,Estlella Warren, and for an ''older'' looking BC, Ali Larter

ali larter? shes only "meh" in my opinion...youve already convinced me about scarlet....but beyond that its kristen bell . if neither of those i think they should go with someone alittle less well known from everyone else.

maybe .......alexz johnson?

220px-2099725_FreightElevator_135.jpg

ali doesnt have the assets, and looks too old compared to Tobey

and no to alexz, cmon now

no Black Cat

it would be pointless to add her.
