Black Friday thread: Shop Like a Beast!

Good for you if you don't have to work in retail, but the reality is that for some areas that may be all someone can get. It's not choosing a career like medical field or something. It obviously isn't just "life" when these corporations and customers are choosing to having shopping at this time. Why not just leave it at midnight and let people have their full holiday? Yeah it's tradition and yeah it is American to want to have a day of thanks and eat, watch football with the family, etc..

Does it not change the meaning of Thanksgiving to spend time on actual Thanksgiving shopping? LOL

You are right if Americans continue to care more about shopping and material things, and don't give a crud about Thanksgiving as a holiday they might as well get rid of it for good.

I live in Massachusetts where old school laws essentially forbid stores to be open until midnight on Friday. I do get jealous of people in NH who can shop early lol.

Black Friday is evil. Man people have even died from this mass greed right after saying what they are thankful for at the dinner table

Aren't all holidays nonsense?

Holidays are for kids and those fake happy families you see in picture frames.

Once you're a grown up it's a nuisance.

Well for some people a Thanksgiving or Christmas may be the only time of year they are (or should be) off and can visit/catch up with all family members at once. It's actually always been a more meaningful tradition in my family than Christmas believe it or not.

i have gone out on black friday maybe twice in my life. i prefer to shop online if i shop at all. i don't want to perpetuate the notion of stores being open on thanksgiving or christmas ultimately by shopping on those days in a brick and mortar store if i can help it.

there are some stores that are refusing to open, which i respect. heck, it's refreshing here that there are still some businesses that do not open on Sundays. it's rare these days for sure, but it's a nice change

:toth

I'm planning on buying a PS4 and about 10 games. The real tricky part is passing on deals that seem good today, but may be even better in 3 weeks.

I never shop on BF, it's all crap I don't need.

Yes, like Chic Fillet. They're worthy of so much respect.

Some of you can just split the difference and buy some **** on that day and send it to the starving African kids. :o Though I won't feel guilty about getting a PS4 for 1/3 of the price.

i've thought about upgrading, but i don't really know if i need to. i hear their blu ray playback is not good at all. and if i recall, they aren't backward compatible with their games either

Are you thinking about getting a PS4 so you can watch blu-rays on it and play PS3 games?

If that's the case, I would say you're better off sticking to what you have. PS3 games do not work on PS4s and if you already have a Blu-Ray player in a PS3, there's no need to get a PS4, even if your PS3 is not working too well. You'd probably be better off picking up a new one for cheap. But if you're interested in PS4 games and stuff, that alone is a great reason to upgrade.

Movie watching would've been one of the main things I did on it for sure. But I'm not that big of a gamer so j hunk as long as they're making the games for both systems I should be okay with sticking with my PS3. More than anything I think it was more of an impulse buy. Would have to be a really really good deal for me to pick one up

I have three children and the holidays for me is all about making those three children, and sometimes my wife, smile and feel more than blessed.

I do know that if you have any sort of list and the ability to shop now, do it. Stores will jack prices up at least 25% come December. It's no joke. Shop now or forever hold your peace.

If I notice a deal on something I want I'll go out and get it, but it's usually later in the day, at least after noon. I'll never wait in line for a store to open. If the game, movie, what have you sells out then ok, most of the time it'll drop in price again during the holidays. I really enjoy Thanksgiving and spending time with family, I'm not going to worry about getting in line to get some deal that is actually probably going on all weekend.

Walmart to Offer “Season’s Best Online Specials”

Walmart has some great news! Starting today (through the end of the holiday season), Walmart will offer their “Season’s Best Online Specials.”

Sounds good, but what does this mean for you? It means every day the retailer will release 10 new Rollbacks (which you can find here). The deals will be in a wide variety of categories, including apparel, electronics, home goods, and toys.

Black Friday is like the purge.

I will get in a fight with an overweight woman over some bluerays.

I'm half tempted to go work for a retail store just to see the Black Friday massacre that happens yearly but since I live in Canada it's really more subdued than the insanity in the USA.
